i want to do a new connection in a function or a stored procedure
like a connect scott/tiger@host under sql/+
it could be written in pl/sql java or dbms
example: i am connected with scott/tger with sql+. i call my procedure/function and if i am doing a select user from dual i want to see the user name written in my stored procedure which different of my current user

I have installed Sap Netweaver Test drive on a linux virtual machine (windows host). The installation was successful and I was able to start the instance (application server and the database), yet I don't know how to create a new connection from my SAPGUI client (7.20) to this server. The static IP address of the server is 192.168.1.160.
I entered the following values for my new connection entry
Description: SAP Netweaver
Application server: 192.168.1.160
Instance number: 01
System ID: DB2
SAProuter: /H/192.168.1.160/S/3201/H/
But it does not work. Any idea about the values needed for creating a new entry?

How to add a new Connection To listener..

As the title says im trying to create a second database but keep getting the error
"Listener does not currently know of the SID given in connect"
How do I make the Listener aware that I added a second connection ?

if you have created new database on new server with create database script, then you have to create listener Not if the listener has already been created. It only has to be made aware of the new database, either by adding to the listener.ora SID_LIST or by self-registration from the new database. You definitely don't need a separate listener for each database on a given box, which is what you seem to suggest.
and naming services, for this purpose use oracle net manager, and create naming profile and then listener and test the connection.Hunh???

SQL Developer New Connection

I am a student, just downloaded SQL DEVELOPER.
I need to know how to create a new connection. I followed the HELP button under connection and the following directions bellow:
"To create a new database connection, right-click the Connections node and select New Database Connection. Use the dialog box to specify information about the connection (see Create/Edit/Select Database Connection). You can also create a new database connection by selecting an existing connection in that dialog box, changing the connection name, changing other connection attributes as needed, and clicking Save or Connect."
I am getting an error that states the following:
Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I also added the system generating login SYSTEM but I could not figure out the password. I tried sys, system, admin.
Any help it will be very much appretiated.

Did you create the database, or did it already exist?
The default system password is manager, but you are normally asked to specifiy a password when creating the database.
If someone else created the database, you will have to ask them for the password.

Under Network Preferences, select the WiFi
click on "Advanced..." button
Select the network you want to delete from the list and click on "-"
Click "Ok"
Click "Apply"
Well done ;-)
You may also want to delete the wireless key from Keychain.
Open Keychain, seach for the old wifi network name, slect it and click delete

I had this problem too and solved it by doing a clean install. After that it was gone.
This is a drastic method since it takes quite some time to reinstall lion and all your software.
Thoughts I had why it started working after a clean install are the following:
It looked like the airport wasn't able to reconnect fast enough before the connection timed out. So what could have prevented my mac from being able to connect fast enough?
Apps that consume processor cycles. I love what I would call 'System Enhancers', little apps that enhance my workflow (Moom, Alfred, Dropbox, Default Folder etc). I'm not saying that these are the problem, they might be programmed processor friendly, but check if you have apps that consume processor cylcles. It might prevent airport from being able to reconnect quickly enough before it times out.
Mobile Config profiles. Another thought I had was that I had a mobile config 802.1X profile installed for the company were I worked. It used TTLS to connect to the corporate network. This profile might have gotten in the way.
And a sidenote...
Routers with hardware acceleration might also be a problem. My router is a Wireless Gigabit Router 300N WL-351 and has hardware acceleration. As soon as I activate that my wifi connection keeps dropping. It is as if a Macbook Air can't handle that amount of optimisation.

I am looking to write a custom JAVA code / Shell Script which needs to establish a connection to execute a PL/SQL API on Rel 12 db.
The challenge is to be able to connect without specifying APPS Password anywhere (just like Oracle Apps does it).
This Shell script / Java code is not called from within Apps hence I need to establish a brand new connection along the lines of using ....

like in 11i world or possibly using APPLSYSPUB username

I need to keep this as closely aligned to Rel 12 coding and security standards as possible.
This code will reside in $XXCUSTOM_TOP/bin file or under XXCUSTOM.oracle.apps.java....... if its Java.

Have you looked at Oracle produced dbc file and its contents? That might help. It is under $FND_TOP/secure. It uses GWYUID=APPLSYSPUB/PUB. I am hoping that the APPS_JDBC_URL would help too.

We have setup a DR environment with a standalone Primary server and a standalone Physical Standby server on RHEL Linux 6.4. Now our application team would like to know:
When the primary DB server is crashed, the standy DB server will takeover the role of primary DB through the DataGuard fast failover. As the applications are connected by the primary DB IP before,currently the physical DB is used as a different IP or listener. If this is happened, they need to stop their application servers and re-configure their connection so the they coonect the new DB server, they cannot tolerate these workaround.
Whether does oracle have the better solution for this so that the application can automatically know the role's transition and change to the new IP without re-confige any connection and shutdown their application?
Oracle support provides us the answer as following:

Applications connected to a primary database can transparently failover to the new primary database upon an Oracle Data Guard role transition. Integration with Fast Application Notification (FAN) provides fast failover for integrated clients.
After a failover, the broker publishes Fast Application Notification (FAN) events. These FAN events can be used in the following ways:
Applications can use FAN without programmatic changes if they use one of these Oracle integrated database clients: Oracle Database JDBC, Oracle Database Oracle Call Interface (OCI), and Oracle Data Provider for .NET ( ODP.NET). I am writing a custom SSIS source that uses a standard SSIS Flat File Connection Manager. I have got a working UI that shows all usable connection managers in a dropdown list and allows the user to pick one. I would like to be able to have a button that
the user can click on to create a new connection manager, and it would open the properties window for the new connection manager so it can be set up.

That's what I've got so far. I had assumed that adding a new connection would automatically display the properties window to the user (right?). However, in my tests, what actually happens is that it creates the new source with a random GUID for a name and no
other properties set up, and puts it in the connections pane, and that's it. Not real useful.
Obviously, something else is required to make the properties window appear, but I can't find what it is. There's no ShowUI() member on any of the classes I have, and I haven't been able to find out the name of the UI class that's used by the flat file source.
Does anyone know how this is done? I know it can be done, because such a button exists in the normal Flat File Source UI.
