Then find someone to help you. We can't unlock your phone. You are the one who enabled the passcode. If you don't wish to do any of this then you can erase the phone and restore it as new.
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • How is Photo Optimization working on your IPad 3

I have 21000 odd jpg photos on my Ipad3 64GB.  Although I have managed to overcome most of the syncing problems without reducing photo size, I think they are taking up 47GB of space (39GB showing on itunes as photos + 8GB in other) this matches what is in the ipod photo cache.  Which isn't being used for any other apple device and the number of files in the photocache equals the number on the Ipad.
The typical picture pixel size is 3264x2448 and average memory size on computer is 2.7MB, on the ipad it is 2.3MB.  A reduction of only 15%.  When I download great looking hires wallpaper photos they take up only around 0.5MB each and despite  the fantastic screen I can't see that my photos look any sharper.
I know the additional compression from itunes will depend on the photo but things should average out with large numbers of photos.  But  for those who have managed to sync a reasonable number fo photos how does this compare with your compression.
One reason I ask is that early on in my sync efforts I was achieving a reduction of closer to 100% for up to 16,000 photos i.e. only 1MB per photo it seems to have increased after reinstalling ios itunes etc as part of the efforts to get the syncing work.
I have spoken to a number of people at Apple Support but no one knew what the optimization would/should do.
    Thanks

    Hello there unknown223,
It sounds like you would like to connect to a 4g network with your iPad 3. A 4g connection for your iPad depends on your provider. This article outlines which providers have a 4g connection for iPads:
iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular: About 4G LTE connectivity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5205
iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular supports 4G LTE connectivity when used with the following carriers:
    Country
    Carrier
    Canada
    Bell
    Rogers
    Telus
    United States
    AT&T
    Verizon
iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular does not support LTE in any other countries, carriers, or networks.
iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + Cellular is compatible with all carriers that support iPad Wi-Fi + 3G, with additional support for fast 3G networks, including HSPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSDPA.
Note: Data plan is sold separately. 4G LTE and fast 3G coverage is not available in all areas and varies by carrier. See your carrier for details.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

I keep having the message the software required for communicating with your ipad is not installed correctly please reinstall, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of itunes 8 times and no luck does anyone have any advice?

First, for the forum view issue. Go to My Settings (on the right) and in General Settings change the Topic Page View to Flat. Click Save. Posts should show up in the order they were written.
    Have you seen this?

Also, since you said that you've gone through the 5 Rs, I would assume that you used the iPod Updater to restore (since there is no other way of doing it and you don't "run" the 5 Rs).
When you restored, did you use the latest updater?
You may also want to try formatting the iPod through Windows. Connect it to the computer and when it appears in My Computer right click it and go to format. Does anything happen? Can you format the iPod through Windows?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • Traveling with your iPad? A warning.

If you are planning on traveling to/through Israel with your iPad, don't. Israel has banned the iPad there and is confiscating them from travelers. The problem is purported to be the WiFi frequencies used by the iPad. (Yes, the same frequencies that seem to be OK in laptops and smartphones, which are NOT banned).

    Jake81 wrote:
Israel is banning iPads for the same reason some universities such as Princeton are banning them from their networks. The ipad's wifi signal operates on a frequency that doesn't play nice with other machines on the network.
Not exactly.... Israel is not allowing iPads because of a radio frequency concern, while Princeton is requiring students with iPads to follow certain steps to make sure they do hold onto their DHCP lease longer than they should. Princeton has asked Apple for a fix and in the meantime has advised their students to follow certain guidelines to make sure it renews the lease when appropriate. Only in extreme cases will they prohibit an iPad from accessing their network- if the student follows their guidelines they will have no problem.

  • 64 GB 3G iPad: There is a problem with your iPad

I just got my 3G iPad and I have this error when plugging in my iPad for the first time:
after waiting for the "Waiting for iPad..." message to end, iTunes shows this:
There is a problem with your iPad
We're sorry, the iPad you connected is not recognized and cannot be activated for service.
We recommend you visit your nearest Apple Store for more information.
To find your nearest Apple Store, click here.
This is a bummer. I just software-updated my MacPro to the latest version of iTunes, too. Are Apple's servers swamped due to the 3G release or do I really have to take it into the Apple Store?

I phoned a manager at a local Apple Store and he suggested trying to get the iPad into restore mode. Holding the "power button" (as I call it, they call it the screen lock button) and the home button reboot the iPad, and iTunes no longer had that "There is a problem with your iPad" screen. I was able to press the restore option in iTunes, and subsequently reinstall the iPad to its "factory setting."
I'm now restoring the iPad 3G from a backup of my iPad Wi-Fi. There was a bit of a delay at the "Waiting for activation" portion of the process, but I'm past that and it's installing a ton of my apps. Hopefully useful for anyone else who gets that error screen.

  • Your contacts are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud

tl;dr: iPhone works properly with iTunes 11.1 and iPad does not. Can't sync with both iTunes and iCloud to separate, distinct Calendar/Contact/Notes groups.
    Explanation:
Ever since iTunes 11 was released (I'm on 11.1 now) I'm unable to sync Contacts, Calendars, and Notes via iTunes because I'm using over the air syncing from iCloud. As late as iTunes 10.7, this was okay, because "On My PC" groups would sync perfectly with iTunes, and iCloud groups would sync perfectly with iCloud.
In fact, this still works, today, but only on my iPhones.
However on the iPad I get the message "Your contacts are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud." (Well, yeah, I know that. My iCloud contacts should continue to sync via iCloud. I don't want to turn off this behavior.)
The "workaround" used to be sticking to iTunes 10.7, which had correct behavior for both iPad and iPhone. Of course iOS7 nuked that option.
Is anyone aware of another workaround? (Merging my professional Outlook stuff into my iCloud stuff is not a workaround.)

I can place a bounty. $20 USD to your Paypal account for a fix.
