How to do a very smooth slo-mo in after effects

How do a very smooth slo-mo in after effects....please help i really need this.....tnx

1) The Effect Way
Take you clip and drag in onto the new composition icon
Enter the composition settings
Set it to twice its current length
Exit Comp settings
Drag THAT composition onto a new composition and go to FX>Time and drag TimeWarp onto the layer.
If you use the default settings your clip will become half speed.
Please refer to the Manual to understand the parameters.
Now render your movie out.
2) The up to double or tripple Fps way
Drag your clip onto the new composition icon
Let us assume that your clip is i.e. 29.97
Enter the composition settings and set Frames Per Second to either the double or triple amount of the current clip's Fps.
Extend the length of your composition accordingly.
Exit composition settings
Enable Frame Blending and make sure you set it to pixel motion.
Render the video out (make sure the frame rate is set to that of the composition)
After rendering out, import the movie again which is now either 59.94 or 89.91 (Depending on double or tripple)
Select it and choose (right-click) interpret footage - in the dialog select your original FPS - in this case 29.97
Exit out of interpret footage dialog
Now drag it on to a new comp icon. It will play back in nice slow motion
PLEASE, refer to manual on Pixel motion etc along with any other term you dont understand.
To get optimum and best results you would typically want to use a combination of both above scenarios.
But that would be too much right now... Given that you are inexperienced in creating SM....
Experiment with it and in no time you will have marvelous SM.
Hope this helps

  • A very important question for every After Effects user

a very important question for every After Effects user, from product manager Steve Forde:
    http://adobe.ly/1exI6tI

Tom Daigon Great idea everybody! Encourage Adobe to do ONLY ONE THING with AE for 2014. Since theres not a heck of a lot of development that can be done on the present foundation, they can really stretch the rental scheme out for many years. And once you get used to the concept, every year they will do ONE THING to placate you. So now they have you swallowing no "ownership" of software and limited development.

  • How to create a facebook "likes" counter in adobe after effects?

I was wondering if anyone could guide me to a tutorial on how to create a small icon that updates for example, the number of steps a person has taken or how many likes a video has got. For an example, I want to shoot a video where someone is running and I use a device which monitors my steps. The device shows the steps as 2 running shoes and in my video I would like to have this icon with the steps being counted beside it in my video.

My approach would be to take a screen grab of the look you want, in the highest resolution possible.  Rebuild and adjust what you need, either in Photoshop or After Effects.
To create a counter that steps up numerically, you can either use a text layer with an expression to keyframe the numbers, or create a solid and apply the Numbers plugin, which also allows you to keyframe the numbers.
Here's some options straight from a Google search: after effects number counter
If you're seeking a tool that will automatically count the steps of the person walking/running, that's a very complex proposition.

  • Teach me how to create the opening "hallway" sequence using Adobe After Effects

I need to create a memorial video for a loved one that passed away. Can someone teach me how to create the opening "hallway" sequence using AE? here is the video from youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4191kcW07f0 . Thanks

I'll give a very brief overview but, presuming that you are new to After Effects, understanding and executing on this overview will require learning the basics of After Effects.
You'll be creating a 3D scene based on a few 3D layers: one each for the floor and each wall. Each of those 3D layers will be a precomposition layer; the wall layer with the pictures will be based on a precomposition in which you have placed your pictures as individual layers. You will create some 3D lights shining down from above. You'll create a 3D camera that you will then animate to move down the hallway.
As I said, that is a very brief overview. Understanding each of those pieces will require some learning. After Effects is not a simple application, so you do need to be prepared to put in some learning time if you are going to do this yourself. Here is the place to start: http://adobe.ly/AE_basics
All that said, I would recommend that you hire someone to do this for you. Learning a new and complex creative application under the time pressure (and other pressure) that you are under may be too much to ask.

  • How to simulate gravity acceleration animation (free fall) in After Effects.

    Hello,
I want to make men falling from the sky. That meens that they don't have to fall with the same speed but they have to be accelerating in order to simulate gravity drop. They have to accelerate by "G" (9,81m/s)2.
How can I achieve this accelerated animation by just manipulating the keyframes?
Or, what is a very simple expression which includes G acceleration (9,81)?
I don't like expressions, so it has to be an extremely short, simple and very effective one.
    Thanks

You could also do this by simply manipulating the curve in the graph editor. Select separate dimensions and animate y as shown:
Since there are no feet and inches in AE being absolutely accurate to the real world is purely subjective. In this case I've just created an approximately parabolic curve by stretching out the handle on the first y keyframe speed graph and then moving the second handle next to the second keyframe and positioning it to the top of the curve.
If your object is going to hit the ground then you'll also need some kind of bounce or deformation. Again, this is completely subjective but if you type in realistic bounce expression or bounce expression in the Search After Effects Help field at the top right corner of AE you'll be directed to this series of great expressions by Dan Ebberts.
I would strongly suggest that you try out these expressions and then save each of them to an animation preset so you can apply them to any layer with a single click. It will save you a bunch of time.

  • How can i Edit a Text layer of an After effects projects without opening it in After effects ?

hello Adobe i'm a web developper student, and i want to build a website that can help to edit text layers of an animation made by After effects of Flash professional
so how can i get or export an editable file of a video project that i can edit by coding ? i'm a beginner in multimedia.
    thanks

That's outdated tech. XFL has been scrapped and just the same there has been no notable work on AE's XML project export. You need to use scripts like pt_OpenSesame to export the projects to an intermediary editable text file or create your own set of tools, including possibly expressions as well.

  • How to work with Premiere Pro cs5.5 and After Effects cs5 together?

I have edited my movie in premiere pro cs5.5 and made the rough cut. In premiere, i have edited the video, put in soundtrack and foley. Now, i need to add muzzle flashes & blood splatters in some scenes and final color correction using After Effects cs5.
When i import the premiere project in AE and make the changes, and then i export it back as premiere project. When i open this prmiere project, it shows vaious kind of errors and no changes are retained that i did in AE. Also, when i import the premiere project (which has 4 different sequences) in AE, all the media that has been imported in the premiere project also opens in AE making it difficult to organize the media.
How should i work now so that i add vfx and color correction using AE cs5?
I thought of exporting the video from Premiere pro and then open the video in AE and add vfx to some scenes and color correction to the full video and render it out again. But, this is the first time i am using AE and i am not sure if this is the best way. PLEASE HELP.
Or, i could import the whole project in AE, add vfx, do color correction AND then export to video from AE. But i think, it will be better if i export the video from Premiere as it has loads of options to choose from while exporting to a movie.
The dynamic link does not work between Premiere Pro Cs5.5 and After Effects cs5. Even if it does, its not working on my pc.
All the footage is in HD and i want the final result in best quality HD too. PLEASE Help!

If you are working between After Effects and Premiere Pro but with versions that are not the same number, you need to just work with movies rendered and exported as intermediate, lossless files.
Dynamic Link only works between After Effects and Premiere Pro of the same version number, and only when they are installed as part of the same suite.

  • Smooth render/new to after effects plz help

    Hey everyone,
Hope you guys can help me out. Im so fed up with my situation.
I have older 720 x 576 video avi clips that I wanna use.
I use the same source fps to render it, same size(best settings) and after it's rendered, the video doesn't look that smooth. It looks like its slower almost. If I watch original movie it's do much smoother and faster looking in a way.
Can somebody tell me the exact settings I must have to render it as smooth as possible.
    720 x 576 25fps avi
    Thanx guys:)
    Werner

    Hi,
thanx so much for answering my question. appreciate it.
i saw that only certain render formats have option where you can choose codecs. is that what you mean by codecs? the only thing i have is copy the source 25fps, 720 x 576 and rendered it as avi.
i want to import the footage that i render in after effects to premiere sometimes. dont know what format is the best.
thanx again for all the help
    werner.

  • How do i downgrade software so i can use after effects cc

  • How should i build and export a composition from After Effects to be dropped into a Premiere project

I've built a project in Premiere which i plan to burn to DVD. It's exporting at 1280x720. Pixel aspect ratio is 1.0. I'm exporting with MPEG2 setting.
After Effects won't let me make a project with 1.0 pixel aspect ratio, and it isn't letting me use MPEG2... it's giving me this medial 02 error...
    Help!

Well where should I start? AE will allow you to use square pixels. In fact the 1280 X 720 frame size is the HDV/HDTV 720 P preset and it's square pixels.
You don't set the compression until you render and, if you want the highest quality, you don't render MPEG formats of any kind using the Render Cue, you export them using the Adobe Media encoder. Where is After Effects telling you you can't use MPEG2??? How are you trying to get there.
If you are going directly to Premiere Pro (Which only exports or renders using the Adobe Media Encoder) you don't even need to render, you can just import your AE Composition into PPro.
Secondly, A DVD is not High Def in any form. DVD's are all 720 X 480 pixles (in NTSC countries). The only options are widescreen or normal.
Please read the sections on Rendering in the help files.

  • How do I import a Premiere Pro file into After Effects

So I'm an editor, I cut trailers and TV spots. I enjoy making my title cards on After Effects because it gives me a lot of options but I'm having difficulty. How do I import / edit a Premiere Pro file into After Effects? I imported the project file but the whole thing was a mess and nothing made sense. Can anyone explain this process to me?
By the way I used CS5.5 versions of the software.

It actually works better if you go the other way... link an AE comp into your Premiere project.
Create and link to After Effects compositions with Dynamic Link

  • How do I import Flash with 3-D into After Effects?

Every time I import a SWF file that has 3-D in it, into after effects the file doesn't work.
How do I make this happen?

Hi Mylenium, Thank you. I had actually tried exporting it as a png sequence before writing this, however, I screwed up and forgot After Effects Preview mode was set to 50% so I thought that the png sequence was horribly pixilated... My bad... You suggested that I go back and try it again and it worked excellently. Thanks.

  • How do you export to mobile (iPhone 5S) in After Effects CC CS6

I can't figure out how to export a video animation I did in AE CC CS6 to be playable on iPhone 5S full screen and res. I can get it to play small and centered and when I try to fix this it goes all black. Please help!!

First question, how are you getting the video to your iPhone? Second, is the video horizontal or vertical? Third, what happens when you rotate your screen. Video on my iPhone always fills the screen if the video orientation matches the orientation of the phone. IOW, if the phone is vertical and the phone is horizontal the video fills the width but there are bars top and bottom. If the video is vertical and the phone is horizontal the video has black bars on the left and right side.

what is this due to? can you use iphoto 6 to embellish and then save the high file size image and how to do it?

Steve, you're amazing. Do you keep a deadbeat

  • How do I decrease the file size of my After Effects video without losing the quality?

I made a video that was 7 minutes and 11 seconds long for my brothers wedding. The quality is really good but the file size is 1.52 GB and I would rather have that be in the megabytes so that I can send it to family members. It does not have to be so low that I can send it in an email but just not so big to where I can't burn it to a disc or place on a flash drive. I realize that I have not provided much information but I don't know what you will need to help me with this problem. If you would please tell me what information you need below then I will happily provide it for you.

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/684381?tstart=0 and please do a search on H.264 and WMV encoding and recommended settings - here on this forum and on the web in general. This question has been asked to death and answered equally as often. Even a lazy search will turn up hundreds of usable answers.
