How to do an earthquake effect in final cut pro?

I know you can do one on imovie is there a way I can do something incredibly similiar in final cut pro?

I don't see anything involving Earthquake at all and I looked at every single video filter? Is it like in newer ones and I need to upgrade or something?

I can't find the setting that enables the GUI control overlay to manipulate the parameters of the Focus blur effect in Final Cut Pro X. When I have the clip and the focus effect selected I only get a center element overlay. At one point I had controls for all the other elements of this effect.

In the Timeline position your Playhead at the starting position.
In the Viewport position the Shape Mask at the starting position.
In the Inspector click the Add Keyframe button.
Press Control-V to open the Animation Editor to see your keyframes.
Move the Playhead and the Shape Mask to a new position.
In the Inspector click the Add Keyframe button.
Continue adding keyframes until you have defined the Shape Mask’s movement.

Please help. I have searched everywhere and they haven't told me how to apple New Blue FX effects to Final Cut Pro X. I know it is compatible since it says on the New Blue website but I can't figure it out. PLEASE HELP!

Simply drop the effect onto the appropriate audio track. Set the frequency for the hum frequency (50Hz or 60Hz depending on your power supply). Include whichever harmonics you think might be present eg. 100, 150, 200Hz.
Note that I have generally had more success by using Soundtrack Pro's noise removal tool.

Animation. How do I import still images in final cut pro x (from dragon frame) duration 3 frames pr. image? We have allready tried to set stillimages duration in preferences to 0,08 sek, but it does not have any effect!

You can drag your images to the timeline, select all, ctrl-d and set the duration to 3 frames by typing 3 and enter.
Or you can use Quicktime 7 to "open image sequence", select the desired duration, export your animation to quicktime and import that into FCP X for further editing.

Open Motion, look for lightningin the generators. From there, it's a question of figuring out how it works and what you need to do to make it work for your sequence. That's about as free as it gets and it will ony be as good--even if someone else did the work for you--as the amount of time you're willing to invest.

So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...

using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?

I use adobe after effects and I am thinking about deleting motion and compressor ( I can always install again). If you have a good reason to keep those apps let me know because I don't want to be hasty. If I delete them and stick with after effects and final cut pro... You'll go from FCP X to and from Motion a lot easier than AE. Motion does pretty much anything AE does, most of the time faster and easier. Without Motion, you can't do custom templates. You can't customize the encoding of files without Compressor. Why would you want to remove them from your system? Leave them, use AE if you want along side of them. But I'd learn Motion first. Cause AE doesn't read FCPXML, so going back and forth between them is a PITA.
And until Apple releases the round trip between FCP X and Motion fully, we have this gem:

Answer: It depends on what is causing the flickering. It could be due to the pixel dimensions being too large for the Sequence settings in FCP. It could be due to thin horizontal lines in the image. It could be due to areas of the image in high contrast with each other. Or it could be due to a combination of several factors.
If the image is too large, reduce the pixel dimensions to a more reasonable size.
If it's due to thin horizontal lines, deinterlace the image, or slightly blur the lines in Photoshop.
If it's due to areas of high contrrast, reduce the contrast of those areas in Photoshop.
In FCP you can also try applying the Flicker filter to the image in the Timeline and/or a Gaussian blur filter with a setting of around 0.2 or 0.3

I can't figure out how to work on .TOD files on Final Cut Pro. I'm using a JVC Everio HD40 camera. None of the sequence presets work. Is there a plug-in or something else I could try?

.TOD is JVCs version of an MPEG 2 file.
Use Log and Transfer from the File menu and convert to ProRes.
