How to do currency conversion in Business objects

Hi,
Can any one please let me know how to do currency conversion, As I am getting different types of currencies. So I want to do currency conversion.

Hi Sankar,
you could easily setup a variable for the actual currency and the actual currency conversion routine in the BI query and the BusinessObjects tools would then leverage the BI variables

11/19/2010 + 3 this should give me the date 11/24/2010 which is actually excluding Sat and Sun and adding only the business days to the date.

How to get meta data of business objects in BOR

i need to get all the meta data information of business objects present in BOR.
for example purchase order BUS2012
1. I need to get for example the attributes information how to get it?
2. if business object contains further child business objects then how to get attributes of those child business objects also?
I am writing ABAP code, i want to retrieve all attributes with help of ABAP program .
any ideas?

Hi..
You have to use SWC_GET_ELEMENT CONTAINER '( string name of your attribute)' your_attribute.
All attributes are part of container issue.. SWC_GET_ELEMENT command can give you these values.

How to extract Cognos Data into Business Objects?

Hi All,
I would like to know whether anyway to pull Cognos data into Business Objects?
1. Pull data thru Universe from Cognos Cubes?
2. Pull data using Crystal reports from Cognos Cubes?
3. Or any otehr method of pulling data from Cognos Cubes?
If nothing is possible I would have to explore using the RDBMS Tables to build Universe, WebI and then present in Xcelsius. Anybody is aware of getting data from Cognos?

Cognos Reporting on SAP BI data
We need to create a new project to import the structure of the SAP BI cube or Multiprovider.
Enter User ID and password.
Click on OK
It will ask you to enter the User ID and password again. After enter the User ID and password it will ask you to select the language.
Then it will ask you to select the metadata source, select the Data source as shown in below fig. and click next.
Select the data Source as shown in below.
Here we are planning to import SAP BW cube so we have to select SAP BW and click on next.
Select sign on and Click on OK.
Here we have to select our desired cube or multiprovider and click next.
Now we have to select the language again.
Here Cognos is giving the flexibility to use different options when importing cube structures.
Here I am selecting to use the technical name of the objects and to bring same model as it is in SAP BI.
Finally it will show list of all objects which are imported from SAP BI.
When you click on finish it will take to the frame work manager. There you will see the SAP BI Cube Structure.
Now it is exactly imported like SAP BW extended star schema model.
Here you can compare the technical names of the dimensions in both in Cognos and SAP BI is same.

Here I am comparing the values of the info Objects with in one dimension.
               Cognos Model                                                   SAP BI Model
If there are any hierarchies in BI, it will form separately as shown in below fig.
When you open the main object of Program definition, we will find 3 objects under this.
It is always recommendable to use Level 01 objects.
This is how it looks when you open all the above 3 objects. You can use any of those depends on your report requirement.
When you open the info object if you see number of different items, that means this info object has got attributes in it.
0COMP_CODE is the technical name of the info object in BI.
In Cognos if it technical name starts with 1  Short Text of the Info Object.
                                                                   2  Key of the Info Object.
                                                                   4  Long Text of the Info Object.
                                                         5  Medium Text of the Info Object.
LELEL00  Is Summarized values.
LEVEL01  Is Item level values of Info Object.
Once you see this in bw/bi environment, i hope you know how to gather and use it in BOBJ environment !!

How to Retrieve a List of Business Objects using DI Server?

In DI Server (and DI-API) I could not find how I can get a list of business objects, for instance ServiceCall objects.
and more - say i need the list with a filter on customer code and call status?

How to handle the events of business object (BAPI)

Hi,
How to register to BAPI event and handle?
For example, for a business object 'inv', there is an event as 'created'.
I want to insert entry in a z table when an inv is created.
I assume that the 'created' event is triggered when an inv is created.
How i can register to that event and handle that event so that i can
insert an entry in z table.

How can i change released BOR business object

Dear Gurus,
I am in the upgrade project. During dev upgrade I made BOR object types to unicode compatible by applying a note 563417. Out of these objects some objects are showing unicode checks are not active in quality system. For that I want to store the above zbusiness objects(released one) in a transport request. How I can do this.
Please help me.

How to move currency conversion types

my problem is currency conversion types and fixed&target currency is showing development but in production its not showing aft i came to know i hav to move
currency conversion types to production. i checked in rscur tcode where i got this list here i cant understand which currency type i hav to move

How to run crystal report in business objects xi 3.1 sp3 enterprise

hi, i created crystal reports thru crystal reports 2008, i have the crystal reports locally on my machine. the source for the crystal report is stored procedure to get the data from database
the main thing is i need to import these reports into business objects xi 3.1 and i need to run the report in business objects. the bo server is on solaris and the reports i have r in my local machine (i.e windows).
i am using this way to import the report into bo server.
In Crystal Reports: File>Save As>My Connections (Define your BO Server) and save the reports to your BO Server.
but the main thing is i cannot run the crystal report in cmc. what am i doing wrong, do i need to set any database configuration in business objects ?

Normally you should run your CR reports in the INfoView. You can start a report either by double clicking on it or by selecting View in the context menu. Still in order to fetch data you have to press the Refresh button in the CR viewer window (in the InfoView).
In the CMC I assume that you are using the Run now option in the context menu. Please note that this will just schedule your report immediatelly. hen the report is scheduled a new instance is created hich is available in the History of the report. In order to see a report in the CMC select again View in the context menu and you can again fetch data by pressing the Refresh button.

How to restrict permissions for individual business object fields?

I know that ACE can restrict permissions (read/write/delete) for entire business objects (Business Partner, Opportunity, Activity...).
Is it possible to assign security permissions (read/write) to individual attributes of business objects? For example, I want that some users could not view phone number for Business Partner.

We had similar requirement for transaction but that was more to do edit or non-edit authorization at field level, but i feel this will work for your scenario too.
First there is no standard tool available to do this, so, you'll have to create your own authorization objects in transaction SU21 (Basis will be able to do that) lets say ZAUTHOBJ, and then assign permitted activities for this object i.e. create/generate, change, display. Then you this authorization object in UI coding to check the permission level and give access at field level. Don't forget to assign this object to your PFCG role.
I'm not technical so can't tell you where to put the code on UI (may be some prepare output method), your tech team will be able to help you.
Also, its good idea to have seperate auth object for each field you want to restrict because of scalability in future.

Exsisting Crystal Reports conversion to Business Objects reports

can existing crystal reports can be converted to Business Objects reports ( Adhoc, webi, deski types ).
If yes, what versions of CR can be converted to BOBJ reports and what versions could not be.
Where woud I go to get the information and procedure to get this done.

Hi Venkat,
Unfortunately there is no direct method or tool which can convert the existing Crystal reports to WEBI or DESKI. The best way to go about converting the reports would be to re-create the reports in the required reporting tool.
All these three reporting softwares are different in working and are designed to suit different reporting needs. So based on the requirements, you can select the tool which best suits your requirement.

How to do Currency conversion thru transformation rule BI 7.0

Hi all;
I am loading data from flat file to the cube. The flatfile contain Source currency (USD) and Incentive Amount base on Source currency.
In my cube I have an object call Source Incentive Amount and anohter object name Planning(Local) Incentive Amount.
How do I convert that Source Incentive Amount(USD) to Planning(Local) Incentive Amount (EUR) thru a transformation rule so I can map 1 Incentive Amount from the flat file to 2 Incentive objects in the cube.
Note: The planning(Local) currency is not on the flat file, I have to pull it from the cost_center object and I don't know how to pull that either.
Please help.

How to use Currency Conversion

Caf.core has a service called CurrencyConversion.
How to use that service in java webdynpro since I could'nt find any interface or class for it.
