Like other responders, I find your questions less than precise. Project files are not QT 7 compatible and will not open. Only the "Build" files can be compatible with the QT 7 player. I.e., all export options should be compatible with QT 7 and QT X players except for AVI (X264/MP3) compressed data which will only play in QT 7 if additional codec support (e.g., Perian) is installed or only play in QT X if audio if converted to AAC and re-wrapped along with the video to a different container.

Most USB storage devices come pre-formatted for FAT or exFAT use. However, Mac OS X can read and write to such devices without problem. Normally, the only issue you may have is files size. If the device is formatted using the older FAT format, then files are typically limited to 4 GBs. All current Mac OS Extended, as well as, the exFAT formats support files in excess of 4 GBs. So you may or may not need to reformat your USB device as may be needed.

The best advice would likely be to complete your Movie Maker project, export it to an appropriate MOV or device targeted compression format, and then check the file size of the finished file. If it exceeds 4 GBs, then use the Disk Utility app in your utilities folder to check and/or reformat the USB device if needed. If reformatting is needed, be sure to select a DOS format that is compatible with all platforms into which you are likely to plug the device.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: During my tests of the free demo app I found this software does not properly convert certain source files employing custom anamorphic encodings. (I.e., files are encoded at their source file's anamorphic matrix dimensions letterboxed in the source file's display dimensioned widow no matter what output aspect ratio option is selected.) This may not be a problem for most users but be aware of this potential issue. Example:

i downloaded a digital movie through redeeming through itunes. I can play it on my ipad and iphone but I can't on my PC...why?

I purchases a movie that contained an insert paper that provided a code for me to go to iTunes and download that movie in a digital format.  I tried to download it again to be sure it actually downloaded, but I get a message that the code had already been used.  So, I guess it downloaded.  I understand the movie should be downloaded to the iCloud, but cannot find it.

h264.mp4 is actually the most common 'standard' (4000 video 'standards' aaaaand counting)
mp4 is indeed universal (Mac, Windows, Linux), and since YouTube, the h264 codec has a good installed base .....
you can bump into probs only when it comes to sheer amount of data:
for instance cheap 'digital frames' are sortof over-whelmed, if you try to playback 720/30p in high quality.
I'm not familiar with 21st cent devices as SmartBoards ... again, it could happen, you have to reduce resolution/fps/bit-rate to avoid clutter&stutter in the video.
I'm using such encoded files successfully on Playstation3, WD HD TV or flatscreenTVs with integrated usb-connection (via stick), etc
    imho, it should work welll .............. < fingers-crossed >

  • AVI defies codec - yet won't play for QuickTime

    Hi,
I've just got a bunch of avi files, and am trying to get them playing in QuickTime. I get the white screen, so download every codec under the sun to try and get it working (I know being on Tiger means I haven't really got a good start).
The thing is the production company says it was made without a codec - is this possible? The movie info includes:
    YUY2, 320 x 240, Thousands
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
    I've downloaded:
    DIV X 6 Decoder + Encoder
    3ivx D4 4.5.1 for OS X
Flip 4 Mac WMV Import + Export
    MSmpeg4v1.component
    MSmpeg4v2.component
The file does play in VLC, but I can't edit from that. I've tried changing .avi to .mpeg, .mov etc, but QuickTime doesn't like it.
Is YUY2 the problem? Many thanks,

  • Exporting .mov file from CS5.5 Premier Pro for playing through QuickTime Player

    Dear All,
I would most appreciate any assistance on a problem that I am experiencing with a current project.
I have a HD1080i50 project which I have completed editing. The work consists of two video tracks on top of a black video track that presents two identically sized images side by side that run con-currently. To achieve this presentation I have solely reduced the scale of the clips to 44% and then positioned them side by side. After rendering, within Premier, the playback is exactly as I want it and the imagery is sharp and clear. The problems occur when I either try to export the project as a mov. file (to play using Quicktime), or when I export to Encore and produce a DVD. In both cases, the audio is fine but the imagery is slightly blurred.
In the first instance, would someone be kind enough to recommend the optimum export codecs to creat a .mov file for playing through QuickTime?
To date, with earlier projects, I have not experienced this problem. I am obviously doing something wrong in the export settings process and would appreciate it greatly if anyone can advise. Should more info on the project be required to respond, I am happy to provide it.
    With thanks in advance.

In the first instance, would someone be kind enough to recommend the optimum export codecs to creat a .mov file for playing through QuickTime?
Sure, but we need to know what you intend to do with the file. Is it for distribution? Archiving? Watching on a computer, or watching on the web? Do you absolutely need to have a QuickTime MOV? There are many variables, not the least of which concerns the exact specifications of your sequence and the footage you're using in the sequence.
To make a better recommendation, some more information is needed.

  • I have QuickTime Pro 7 on a PC (win xp). I have several QT movies saved on my PC that I can play using QT. I would like to be able to play these movies on my iPad2. I've tried to convert them to iPad format using iTunes but that option doesn't

I'm trying to figure out how to get QuickTime movies (taken with a video camera) off my pc and onto my iPad2. I can watch the movies on my pc using QT. I bought QT Pro and installed on  my PC to convert the files to a format that iPad supports (like mpeg4). I converting the files to mpeg4 but they didnt play on iPad. Do I need a different video player on iPad than the default video player? Do I need to do something else on the iTunes side?
    Thanks for any help...

My only guess at the error message is the very odd 13 frames per second recording. I don't know what to suggest.

  • How do I copy music files in Apple Lossless format on to a flash drive so I can play on a digital media player.

I have an iMac 21", running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, processor is 2.7GHz Intel Core i%, Memory 8GB 1333MHz.
I would like to copy some of my iTunes music in Apple Lossless or AIFF to a flash drive which I would like to insert into a digital media player in my home Hi Fi system. How do I copy the files in these formats. Thank you.

Drag the song files there, either from the iTunes application window or the iTunes Media folder in the Finder.

    Hello iPIZ,
It sounds like you are trying to export your iMovie project as a QuickTime file.  The steps in the following article will guide you in creating a QuickTime file of your iMovie project:
    Export a QuickTime file
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#move6e0cb2ad
The file name will immediately appear in Finder, but you won't be able to play the video until the video completes the export.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

    I do!
    Use iDVD.
IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk ONLY as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

  • Can I export iTunes files in an MP3 format to a thumb drive so that I can play them on my car stereo?

Is this even possible?  I know dragging and dropping the items from iTunes onto the drive doesn't work.  Anybody know if/how it can be done?
    Thanks.

Some corrections needed (but I use an older iTunes and no longer bother to try to keep up with newer versions or Apple doings):
Unless Apple has changed things back to the way they were 5 years ago, your music purchases are DRM free and you can now convert AAC to MP3 within iTunes (unless your files are from DRM days).
Again unless Apple has changed things, creating mp3s from AAC files in iTunes will not replace the AAC.  It will create new files (make sure iTunes preferences are set to create mp3).  In iTunes you have to display the "kind" column to distinguish because your AAC original and mp3 copy will appear as duplicates since they will have similar tags.
You say dragging doesn't work.  Please clarify. No files copy?  The files copy but won't play?  Dragging from an iTunes playlist to a drive will normally copy files (it does with iTunes 7.5) unless the drive is locked.  Files will not play if your car doesn't support the file format you try (dragging AAC files will put AAC on the drive which is still not universally supported), or if you format your drive to an unsupported format.  That should be specified by your car's player but likely will not support Mac formatted drives and you should probably leave the FAT32 format that many drives comes as.  If you formatted to Mac then you should reformat the flash drive back to DOS.

  • Why does the option to watch a movie even appear if it then will not play because not downloaded? Worse, then only 23hrs left to watch!! Paying for what is not delivered!!

ITUNES:  Why does the option to "watch movie now" appear & when chosen movie will not play because still downloading. WHY SHOULD THE OPTION APPEAR IF MOVIE CAN"T BE PLAYED. Then when movie is viewable, only 23hrs to watch! PAYING FOR MOVIES WITHOUT OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW does not make happy consumer. Emailed Itunes over and over about problem and stilll paying for services unrendered.

When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised  filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.
    Have a nice day!
