How to do frame by frame image restoration?

I have a short silent movie (a .mov file) that was created from an old 8mm original film. I can open the file with Premire Pro and can view it frame by frame. I was wondering if it is somehow possible to do a frame-by-frame restoration of this movie (such as eliminating random spots and occasional scratches), preferably with Photoshop (that has many nice image restoration tools) without losing any of the movie's original resolution? I would welcome any ideas on how this might be accomplished? Thanks.

i've done both methods, and depending on what you need, one could work better....
i had a 7 second sequence that had several 3d rendered objects that intertwined.... i had to get rid of 1 of those objects, and so i exported that sequence as a tiff sequence and just went frame by frame in photoshop doing it. but i was doing every single frame.
another time i had a video that had like what you were talking about some roughness throughout but not constant. that time i followed david's advice and it was very quick and effecient for that particular sequence.... you may prefer his method better for this situation....
never worked with "film" yet, so i dunno if they have it available... but i wonder if there would be any plugins that may help remove like holes and whatnot? i dunno.... i do know that Photoshop CS5's content aware healing will proabbly do WONDERS to fix film holes and stuff.

Creating GIF images, how do I edit all frames at once?

Hey everyone. So I now how to make GIF images already. The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to figure out how to edit all the frames at once. I would like to brighten them up and add curves, maybe sharpen.
I tried selecting all the layers, but then all the image editing options greyed out and weren't available.
I really don't want to individually edit 58 frames, lol.
Is there a way to edit all at once?
PS - I'm using Photoshop CS3, if that helps!

In PSE 10, go to Full Edit mode.
Open your image.
Open the Content panel.
In the first dropdown choose "By Event".
In the second dropdown choose Christmas.

How do I delete a few frames of my image from the beginning?

To remove a single Frame, I would zoom the Timeline to the max. Then, in that Clip, find the Frame that you wish to remove. With the CTI (Current Time Indicator at the last good Frame, hover the Cursor over that spot, until the Scissors Tool pops up (PrE 11 & 12), then click to Cut that Clip. Then, use the right arrow key, to move 1 Frame to the right, and perform the same operation, as above with the Scissors Tool. That will Cut your Clip on either side of that Frame. Rt-click on that Frame, choosing Delete & Close Gap. What version of PrE are you using? ATR, in Reply #2 covered the Scissors Tool, so there should be no difference here - other than placing the CTI on either side of that Frame.
Note: there are considerations to using that method. I assume that you also want to Delete the Video & Audio for that Frame. If they are linked, then the Scissors Tool should Cut both. If they are not linked, you will probably need to do that for both the Video & Audio. Then, if you have Video, or Audio above/below that Frame, you will not be able to automatically Close Gap. Just something to plan for.

Flash CS6; AS3: How to load image from a link on one frame and addChild(image) on other?

How can I addChild outside the frame of images loader function? When I try to addChild on the other frame of the same loader, I get an error.
I need to download all my 10 images only ONE TIME and place it on the screen in the other frames (to the same movie Clip).
Also I can only play this as3 coded frame once. I know how to add an array of images, but I only need to understand how to do it with one image.

im trying to create a 60fps timelapse but i just can't get each image to show for less than 2 frames, i've gone to edit>preferences>import and set the still footage length to 0:00:00:01. and i've set the sequence footage to 60fps(although i'm not positive what this does)
i then bring my photos down to create new composition set it to 0:00:00:01 still duration and then each photo shows for 2 frames, any ideas?

If you import a single frame as an image sequence it will be 2 frames long.
If you import an image sequence as an image sequence you won't be able to see the individual frames in the timeline as being 2 frames long. However, if your composition is set to 60 fps and the image sequence is interpreted as 30 fps, when you step through the footage there will be pairs of identical frames. Change the interpretation to 60 fps and the image sequence will be half as long but each frame will be unique.

How can you get frame by frame control of the image on a movie buttom?

Working on IDVD 7.0.4, I'm trying to position still frames for each of my movie buttons. I read the help pdf and the slider worked an several images, but would not let me move frame by frame to select. When I found the image I wanted and selected it, as soon as I clicked away it reverted to a spot several frames later in the movie. Is there a way to move frame by frame in the still mode?

Is there a way to edit each frame as an Image in FCP

Hello Folks,
Just wondering how can I edit each frame as an image in FCP pro... let's say my cam shoots @ 24fps and I import that to FCP, well how can I import these 24frames into a photo editing program such as PhotoShop so I edit each frame and color correct and stuff like that? Also how would I bring it back each frame to FCP?
What is this process called? Frame editing? I'm not familiar with this because I was told it is duable, i know in Adobe Premier the frames export to a folder where you can edit each image in watever program you want and bring them back to adobe.
So how can I do this in FCP?

just for clarity:
whilst there is indeed a direct Export option, there is no direct Import option. For Export: use FCP's File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion.. >> Image Sequence option
For Import you can first use Quicktime Player's File > Open Image Sequence... option, and export it out to the codec of the original clip/sequence using the File > Export... option. After that you can then import that clip back into FCP.
its worth noting that this is not "roundtripping", there is no invisible link between the exported frames and the master clip/sequence

The most common reason for this error is, that you have used a page layout that needs a background photo and you have not yet added the backdrop. Then the book is still showing some default grayscale image.
Check, if one of your page layouts is using this background:
Then you need to add a photo to the background of the page.

How to change the picture frame size in Lightroom 5 Book

I would like to control the actual picture frame size when making a Book in Lightroom 5. Or else know the sizes of the different picture frames provided by choosing the different page layouts. That way I can either change the picture frame dimensions to accomodate each photo or change the image size to fit in the offered picture frame. I find that using the software as is winds up cropping the images in unwanted ways. Modifying the picture frame would be my preferred alternative. Appreciate any ideas

I have been using Adobe Photoshop 7, Photoshop Elements, Perfect Photo Suite, Photo Studio, etc., changing Image size, placing a picture on a page and then, do a simple last minute size adjustment by using the arrows to stretch or shrink it in place. Things would be a lot simpler if I could do the same thing with the cells in Lightroom 5. Cell pad adjustments do not fill the bill.

Force start frame number in image sequence render

I have a 900 frame comp rendered to a numbered image sequence.
After applying a revision to frames 250-300, I would like to render
only those frames, overwriting the originals.
I have tried:
Under >Render Settings, "Work Area Only", with "Skip existing files" off.
This renders the correct frames as designated by the Work Area Bar,
but the frame numbering begins at 1 instead of 250.
Under >Render Settings, "Custom", with "Skip existing files" off.
In the Custom fields, I specify frames 250-300.
This renders the correct frames as designated by the Custom setting,
but the frame numbering still begins at 1 instead of 250.
Using both of the above settings, I have also tried to "force" a start frame
in the Output Module by manually entering "filename_[00250]".
The result is a new 51 frame sequence starting with "filename_[00250]_00001".
How can I get a partial render to overwrite the correctly
numbered original frames in an image sequence?

I have figured out what I was doing wrong.
I turns out that you can indeed force a start frame
number in the Output Module, but I was using it incorrectly.
Instead of having "Use Comp Frame Number" checked,
I had specified a starting frame number (1 - the first frame of comp).
The result is that regardless of what specified segment I rendered,
the output frames always were numbered starting with frame 1.
After checking "Use Comp Frame Number", problem solved.
Thanks for the input in helping me track down my error.

If, as Larry guessed, you're wanting to get a frame of a movie as an image file you can do that with Quicktime Pro and Quicktime Player 7. Stop the movie on the frame you want and use the Export ➙ Movie to Picture menu option.
Or, play the movie in QT Player, free on the frame and take a screenshot.
