How to do G5 Backup?

Hi there,
I would like to back up my G5 Tower and then do regular backups so I dont lose my work. What do you think is the best/easiest/quickest/cheapest option to achieve this? I dont have enormous amounts of data, mainly letters, photos in iphoto, illustrator files, photoshop files and some music but not much.

In addition to the good advice from Matt and eww, I'll add a couple of words, if I may.
External Firewire HDD as recommended by previous posters is the most cost effective and efficient way. And to SuperDuper and cloning I say, Amen! External Firewire HDDs are relatively inexpensive. Here are a couple of stipulations:
1. Get one that is large enough. I'd say not less than 250 GB. One partition the size of your internal HDD, will be fine. If you have other computers create a partition for each one of those. My 250 GB HDD has a partition for backing up my computer, one for my wife's, one small partition for each of Jaguar and Panther which I use for these forums, and a larger partition I call Scratch. I have backed up my kids computers to it when I was working on their computers. Dr. Smoke's FAQ Backup and Recovery has good suggestions, as well as a scheme for backing up. He does insist on Retrospect for backing up, but I, like the two earlier responders, prefer SuperDuper for its ease of use and efficiency.
2. Make sure you external Firewire HDD has the more reliable Oxford 911+ chipset. I have learned the value of that from hard experience; it's cheaper in the long run. Here is a list of available HDDs from Other World Computing.

Hi,
In Application(SAP) level you can't able to take Backup.
You can take backup from OS level.
GO SAVE command and schedule the backup...R3<SID>DATA and R3<SID>JRN...libraries you can take daily..
Monthly once you cane take Entire System Backup with offline.
If you want online backup you came go to BRMS..But it is licence product with IBM.

You can't. iCloud backups can only be done over wifi.

How large of a backup drive should I get for my 500 GB MacBook Pro?

I have a MBP with a 500 GB hard drive. How large of a backup drive should I get for time machine backups? If I get a 500 GB drive will it just back up everything twice (as I have 250 used) and then delete the second backup every time it rebacks up so I will just have 2 backups? Or does time machine only backup changes every time it backs up? Thanks in advance.

If you put important stuff on a 3rd partition, you can have TM back it up, too (unless the drive is attached to your Airport), but it will send you a warning reminding you that it's not a good idea to have both originals and backups on the same physical disk. You'll be much better off finding another way to back that up, perhaps archiving to CDs/DVDs.

But some folks (including me) are doing it anyway!
So if it works for you, just be aware it's technically unsupported, and you'll get little or no help from Apple if there are problems. And a future update may break it.

If its the same server you took the backup from the backup history for the DB will be stored against it. If its a different server you will need to catalog the backup tape to read in the history/contents.
Lets assume its the same server, with the same file locations.
From SQL Ent Mgr - with SAP stopped.
right click the DB
select restoredb
select the set you want to restore from the history
select the options you need (ie leave off line for addition TL restore, or bring online)
It really is that simple - you cant go wrong (assuming you select the correct set!)

Okay, so it happens nearly everytime you synch your iPhone with your iTunes? Easy. As soon as it starts, hit the "X" in the bar where the backup process is being shown, this does NOT STOP the synching process, ONLY the backup process.
HOWEVER, keep in mind that a few times during the week (depends how often you synch ur iPhone) it will be good to let the backup process let run fully.

Forget the Pendrive stategy...
Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
or CCC http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
you will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
Also, Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using...

2. What you try to achieve cannot be configured with out-of-the-box features in Windows 7.
3. You may try to see if Network LoadBbalancing (NLB) feature in Windows Server 2008 and later fits your requirements.

You need Windows Server Backup installed on source and destination, and during the installation of vCSHB the installer will invoke the wbadmin (Windows Server Backup Utility) and will backup configuration and application data (application data is optimal but can decrease the sync time after installation of secondary node). On the secondary node you will need only run the vCSHB installer and everything will be restored.

Stop database, and copy all files to another machine.That sounds to me to be the closest answer to the question posted. And perhaps the easiest solution.
Install XE on the "another machine", shut it down. Shutdown the source database. Copy the datafiles to the new host. Startup your "new" database, it will be an exact clone of the original.
To find out what files need to be copied, as system (or sysdba) run:
select name from v$datafile;
... file1, file2 ...
show parameter control
... control_files ... file1 ...
alter database backup controlfile to trace [reset logs];
show parameter diag;
... diagnostic_dest ... <drive:>|/diag_pathTo do a proper database clone its better to recreate the controlfile and reset the archive sequence number- leave out the controlfile copy part. In the diag_path location find the trace file under diag/rdbms/$ORACLE_SID/<db_name>/trace it should be the latest ora*.trc file.
The trace file has the commands to recreate the controlfile, which includes the datafiles and putting the tempfile back in place. If the datafiles are in a different location, i.e. in Windows going to a different drive, or you want do put datafiles in a different folder location, the create controlfile statement is the easiest time to get the file directories right.
If you add the "reset logs" qualifier (don't use the brackets!) you'll get just the reset logs version of the create controlfile statement, otherwise you'll get both NORESETLOGS and RESETLOGS versions of a create controlfile statement, run one or the other. Not both. Not the entire trace file, just the create controlfile, alter database open [reset logs], alter tablespace temp add tempfile ... bits. No recovery is needed for a database that is shutdown when datafiles get copied to a new location/host.

Create your own Value Object (Data Transfer Object) in Java with a structure similar to this and map the fields returned from the database to the fields of that object (preferably using SEtT methods).

Are you referring to performing RMAN backup operations via the OSB web tool? RMAN operations are managed, not via the web tool, but through RMAN command line or Oracle Enterprise Manager (EM)
