How to do keyframing in GarageBand ?

Hi there,
Is it possible to do keyframing in GarageBand ? If yes, how to do it ?
I want to keyframe the Left & Right Panning.
Say at Time=10secs, I want the Panning to be at L=-48 and at T=22secs, the Panning is R=48, that means within the 12 secs the sounds move from Left -48 to Right 48 & it interpolates the panning between the T=10 & T=22

When I click the curve (line), a dot appeared. But very often after the dot appeared I want to move/slide the dot a bit to the right or left. But how come I cannot do it. When I tried to click on the dot (intention is to highlight this dot so that I can slide this dot), ANOTHER DOT appeared next to the dot that I want to move/slide !!
Any ideas ?

With the latest build of GarageBand on the device, move to the My Songs view, tap the Edit button at top right, select the shaking song you want to export, then tap the sharing arrow symbol at top left, tap iTunes, then GarageBand.
Connect the device to iTunes, select it in the left-hand column, then select the Apps tab. You should find the exported file in the File Sharing area of the GarageBand app and from there you can copy it to your computer, then open it with the GarageBand application.

HT4692 Ok. Now how to I get the garageband file BACK onto my iPad?

Ok. I have successfully transferred garageband files from my ipad to my itunes into file sharing and then saved them onto my mac in a file. Now, the question is.... how do I (after deleting garageband files off of my ipad) put them BACK on???
My iPad is just too full because of my garageband files. I want to be able to take these files off and put back on certain ones when I would like to work on them again. Thanks -R

Step 1
First you put the the GarageBand Project back onto the GarageBand Documents area of you iTunes File Sharing section and make sure your iPad syncs with iTunes.
Step 2
Now in GarageBand, go to the My Songs window, click the + button and select "Copy from Tunes". You should see all the GarageBand Projects that are available in your iTunes FIle Sharing section (from step 1). Tap on it to copy the Project to the My Songs window.
Now you can open it.

I use iPad 2 with iOS 6 and GarageBand v1.3.
I'd like to play an other app like Sunrizer synth while the GarageBand is recording in the background in a track.
By now I can do it only using the build-in mic of iPad, but this is not the point.
Can I record other apps in a GarageBand track?

I suspect you are probably correct about the reasoning, although there are already a myriad of ways to do that.
Don't get me wrong - I never said I like this. But it is consistent with other Apple applications, that are similar restrictive; you cannot take a screenshot, when dvd-player is running for example.

So, I'm able to extract some keyframe, but i'm not sure it is the correct way and my dubt grows out of the fact that without the if expression highlighted in red, it seems that I have more keyframes (those ones with flag ==1040). Another problem is that it works only with AVI because MPG instead of 1040, they have alternate sequence of 32 and 1056.

How do I import a garageband project folder (and its contents) into itunes so I can transfer it to my ipad?
I am a guitar teacher and I want to use garageband for the ipad as a teaching tool for my students. The goal is for my students and myself to share garageband project files so that both the teacher and the student can have the full project...or even add to it.
Here's what I need help with...
My student has created a song in garageband that has 4 tracks. They sync their song to itunes so they can see the project folder for that song in the document window for garageband under the "apps" tab in itunes. They click "save to" and save the project folder to dropbox.
I want to be able to import the project folder for that song from dropbox into itunes so that I can copy it to my ipad and have full access to my student's song.

hi Pat,
what you can do is add that folder to garageband directory using ifunbox. here is the step:
- Open your ifunbox then go to "user Applications" on your left panel, then select garageband folder. You will see a folder as below:-
"Documents"
"Library"
"MobileGarageBand.app"
"tmp"
"itunesartwork"
"itunesmetada.plist"
copy the folder you like to put into your ipad by copy it into "Documents" folder. and then quit the ifunbox and restart your itunes again and sync your ipad again and check if you can see the folder on your file sharing under apps tab. Wish you good luck.

I made a movie on imove, THEN exported it to garageband where I did more audio.
I would like to put the new music that I recorded onto imovie again.
How to I save the audio files?

1.In garageband: share to iTunes and than pick the file up via iMovie
or
2. In iMovie, click the itunes icon you will not only see the iTunes library but also your Garageband files.
If you click on a GB-file to play it will tell you wether it has already been shared or if you want to share it, if that's done you can use the file for your film

How do you save a GarageBand project with an iLife Preview?

I have save with iLife preview checked in GarageBand General settings. The only way I know how is to open iMovie, select the song and press the spacebar, and have it open GarageBand to save it there. the problem with this is that I've edited my songs since then and now in the iMovie media browser I can only import the unfinished songs.

If you want to have the most recent version of your project in iLife preview (iMovie for example), then each time you make a change in your project, you have to save it to GB and to iLife. After you click on save in GB, and then you want to close it, there is always going to appear a message asking you if you want to save it to iLife. If you want it to be available in iLife always click "yes". When you decide on final version, share it compressed as mp3 to iTunes as well. From there you can e-mail it (it can't be too long though) to someone as e-mail attachment. But foremost you need a backup, you need to set up your time machine and backup all your files. So whenever something happens to your song or other file, you'll be able to restore it from time machine.

Hi, I've just updated my garagaband to a new 10.0.2 version and I cant seem to find a photo option in the media browser, they have videos and music but no photos? Also where is their podcast setting option.
Im running a mac os 10.9.2 system.

The new GarageBAnd does no longer support podcast, only sound tracks.
You can import a video to create a soundtrack for the video and later write the audio to the video. But you cannot any longer add still frames and export a podcast with a photo thumbnail.
Continue to use your GarageBand '11 for podcast creation. If you did not delete it, when you upgraded to GarageBand 10, your old GarageBAnd '11 will still e in a subfolder of Applications waiting for you.

How to do keyframes with 'level' filter?

I'm trying to change the 'levels' as I do a move across a still. There is keyframable parameter in the 'levels' filter that allows me to add keyframes ... but this has no appreciable effect on the actual levels as far as I can see.
How can I can 'levels' over the length of a clip?

As a test.
Make sure your playhead is at the start of the image clip in the timeline.
In levels inspector set a key frame where the mix control is. Put your playhead to the end of the image clip in the timeline, go back to the inspector and make your adjustments in the histogram.
Open up your keyframe editor in the timeline you will see mix and along the timeline move your playhead between the first and end keyframes and add further keyframe and adjust by moving up or down. Then as you play and move a cross the still you will see your image change due to the levels filter. When you see how this works you can then build on this principle to adjust your levels using keyframes.
Perhaps there is a better way, but that's my workflow.
