  • Need your input on how to handle "Practice" items in Captivate module

HI, I currently have short lessons in Captivate. I am using the TOC. The lessons have an introduction, content, conclusion and practice. How have you been handling the practice items?
I'd like users to take the practice. then I want them to go back to the practice to retake it. but i also want to track the results. so far i have set captivate to track results for the lms. i also set the questions to 2 tries. i have also allowed captivate to go backward in the test.  the problem is that after the user answers the practice quetions once, and they go back, they see their answers and cannot change them. in the toc, they can't move back and forth in the practice section.  i don't know what design strategy to use. a practice a just a practice and not an assessment where they can't change their answers. however, i'd like the lms to track their practice.
    Any ideas?

I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the Captivate Quiz feature. I wish I did not have to use it.  I want the quiz to act as a "practice" section where users can navigate freeley between questions and to interactive screens within the Captivate module. Currently, i can't do that. once you take the "practice" and you go back to "other parts of the module" we can't get back to the practice.  THERE MUST BE A WAY TO FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How do you apply Single Responsibility principle to a repository

I am trying to apply "SOLID" whenever I can and try to use common sense and avoid a pattern when I see that a pattern is creating more problems than it's trying to solve. I don't want to apply a pattern and make life difficult for somebody else using
my code just for the sake "I write patterns" if you see what I mean.
Now I am struggling with one of the principles that I thought was the easiest to grasp: "SRP".
How do you practically apply this principle to repositories?
    Let's suppose I have a
    IEmployeeRepository
    IUserRepository
    IProductRepository
and commonly they will have methods like these:
    public interface IUserRepository
    User GetUser(int id);
    IEnumerable<User> GetAllUser();
    void DeleteUser(int id);
    same for employees and products.
Are we saying that each of these method should be a class on it's own? even though at times we are talking a single line of code?

    Hello,
"Are we saying that each of these method should be a class on it's own? even though at times we are talking a single line of code?"
interface is not a method. It has its own definition and you can refer to here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/87d83y5b.aspx
Any from your question I think you may still confused about the usage of interface. In this way, I will recommend you have a look at the following blog:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/18743/Interfaces-in-C-For-Beginners
"Interfaces in C # provide a way to achieve runtime polymorphism. Using interfaces we can invoke functions from different classes through the same Interface reference, whereas using virtual functions we can invoke functions from different classes in
the same inheritance hierarchy through the same reference"
With the blog you can check that code to see details about how to use interface.

  • How to use Update Statement in ODI Procedure

    Hi,
How can I use an update statement inside an ODI procedure.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You do not need the BEGIN and END. ODI procedures are free text, so you can simply write your update statement, as you would in toad/sql developer etc etc. Just make sure you set the Technology and the logical schema. It is how ever best practice to also use the API:
<%=odiRef.getSchemaName("YOUR_LOGICAL_SCHEMA_NAME", "D")%>. to prefix tables. This way, you select data from different schema's in the same instance (as long a your user has the correct privs).

  • Containers in practice please advice

    Hello forum users,
I am finishing computer science studies this year and I need to create thesis. Im interested in Solaris containers and would like to describe this technology. I want to create a project that uses containers to do something useful and provide some functionality, not only shows how to create zones and assign resources.
I have an Ultra 10 with Ultra Sparc IIi 300MHz CPU , 512 MB RAM and 20 GB HDD available. Does someone have any idea how to show practical use of containers on such machine?
Other solution I think about is just to design containers without implementation, so I would not need any hardware. But Unfortunately I do not have administration experience to decide about resource allocation.
Could you please advice if you have any ideas about using containers on Ultra 10, or if you can provide any suggestions for using Containers in practice.
    Many thanks,
    Adam

Ah, the joys of a senior thesis...
First, I hope you have a faculty adviser who's on-board with your plan -- it will make things must easier and they can provide a lot of guidance about how to proceed and what to work on.
As for zones, I would probably look at doing a work that is mostly theoretical (though you'll need to do some real world work to get enough experience to be able to write this with any sort of authority). I'd aim for a piece on where zones came from (eg. BSD chroot jails with a smattering of java sand boxes and VM's in general) and what they gained and what they lost in that process (maybe even a bit on how much of the OS they had to touch/modify to support it -- eg. the scope of work). If you've got any contacts who can introduce you to any of the key players in zone development (again, where your faculty adviser comes in handy) you might include some interview material, but I'd wait till you understand the technology very well before you go that route so you can ask good, meaningful questions.
If you want something more "down to earth" (if zones can ever be described that way...) then I'd probably pick a common task that computers do (web/application serving, databases, etc. -- whatever you might have some background in already) then describe your implementation of that in a zone, what challenges it presented, limitations and advantages it has. For example: we're very interested in the possibility of giving DBA's root access to their own zone (probably just in development) so they can take care of day-to-day root.sh runs on Oracle and such but we know there's going to be lots work in management of resources that will fall to the admin group which makes us less excited...
    Best of luck!

  • MacKeeper seems to be the biggest threat to Mac users. How is MacKeeper legally allowed to exist. How can we get rid of it?

At least once a day I get a MacKeeper Pop-up that won's allow me to continue browsing unless I click close the MacKeeper page. Once I do that, a second window pops up that I need to verify that I want to leave the page. I cannot continue using safari unless I click this other window, which I am too worried to do, so I just quit safari, but this window is so intrusive, it stays open even after safari is closed! How is that even allowed to happen and how is that legal. I then have to force quit Safari and restart it. Then if I am looking to buy or download software, half the time the link to the software or the download icon is fake and simply redirects you to  MacKeeper's home page, which again they won't allow you to leave. I have also been told that MacKeeper has planted writers in forums and bloggers and proffesional reviewers all over. Then I hear that the package MacKeeper offers is all software that is available elsewhere for free and it has just been renamed, and the rest of the software is inoperable. How is this company allowed to exist. How could their practices possibly be considered legal?
Is there anything legitamate they offer?mWhat can be done about them???

i guess what i'm really asking is- has mackeeper compromised my computer? and how can i check?
If you did not actually install MacKeeper, it can do nothing to your Mac. I'll assume that the only problems you're faced with have been the intrusive advertisements.
First go to Safari's Preferences and block popup windows: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > select "Block popup windows".
Then, make sure you don't have any Safari Extensions you don't want: Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Then, consider the possibility that your wireless router has been "hacked", a recent problem that has been growing in popularity:If the wireless router you are using is one that uses a web page for configuration, such as Linksys and Netgear products do, it is possible that its DNS settings have been maliciously tampered with. To fix it will require resetting your router using its hardware reset option, followed by configuring it again.
When doing so, be sure to select the option to prevent setup over its WAN port. Different routers use different terminology for remote administration, so be sure to find the correct setting and disable that option. Use WPA / WPA2 encryption and a reasonably secure wireless network password.
btw, it is not on pirate sights or xxx sites that i encounter mac keeper, but baseball blogs and stat sights, and the administrators DO say what you said they would... that they have a third party that pays them to do the advertisments. i know some of these guys personally, and none of them would allow this to happen if they could avoid it. they don't have the most traffic in the world, so they don't have the luxury of choosing where or how they get their revenue, they're just happy they can make a living.
I understand that and I don't begrudge anyone legitimate means of earning a living. However, I strongly disagree with taking the easy way out, saying they have no control over the ads that appear on their site. Would they adopt that stance if their site hosted advertisements for child pørnography?
Somewhere between that extreme (and illegal) example and having no advertisements whatsoever lies responsibility. Your friends should fire AdChoices or AdSense or whatever service is placing paid content on their web pages, and be abundantly clear about the reason. You don't see MacKeeper or CleanMyMac or similar ads for garbage products on many respectable websites. Unfortunately, they appear on enough of them to be the invasive problem it has become. Until enough site administrators stand up and say they're not willing to tolerate it, the scourge of garbage products will continue to result in lost time, money, irreplaceable data, or all three. MacKeeper alone has earned at least $18 million in revenue, by their own admission, and that was some time ago. If all that money does is to enrich one or two people, that's bad enough. How do they know the revenue is not being directed to fund more sinister purposes? How does anyone?
What is the baseball site's URL? Post it here. I want to determine what cookies it drops on the system I'm using.

  • Best practice configure DHCP server NAC

    hi all,
any idea how the best practice deploy dhcp on cas? i tired follow user guide configure dhcp on cas but still cannot running smoothly user just only grep ip authenticate.
    - CCA agent very slow appear when user get ip dhcp on authenticate.any idea ?
    - how to integrated profiler with nac appliance .?

    Hi ahmed,
You have configured your CAS to be your DHCP server, Thats well and good because you are using Real IP mode, Which Supports the CAS to be a DHCP server.
    Remember
This Setting is only For your Authentication VLAN that your client gets an ip While Authentication ok.
When your Client switches to Access VLAN , your client trafiic no longer flows through the CAS so CAS is now not responsible for DHCP.
You'll have to configure another DHCP on the Trusted Side which can Lease IPs to the Acess VLAN Members.
As you have configured OOB then your client is in Acess VLAN and does not come in contact with the CAS so you need the Trusted side DHCP to give the Client an IP address.
Here in your Scenario your ACCESS VLANS are 2022,2044
Hope this helps, Do reply after Testing.
    Thank You
    Regards
    Edward

  • Looking for authorized 1Z0-514 practice questions

I'm studying for the 1Z0-514 - Oracle Database 11g Essentials exam. I have gone through all of the tutorials in the 11g 2-day DBA manual and Oracle By Example supplement. I think I'm ready but would like some practice questions to test myself. According to http://www.certguard.com/, every hit on Google for "1Z0-514" is a braindump. That site also lists a number of reputable sites for practice exams, although none of them includes 1Z0-514.
Q1: Does anyone know of a verified source of legitimate 1Z0-514 practice questions?
Q2: Does anyone know how relevant OCA practice exams (1Z0-052) would be for 1Z0-514? They seem to have a lot of common ground.

Hi, I had the same problem you are having now a few months ago, after studying the 11g 2-day DBA manual I couldn't find any authorized practice questions.
I ended up going through OCA books and practice questions. I advise you use them, the 1z0-052 and 1z0-514 exams cover very similar topics.

  • Qs on Best Practices

    Hi All,
For every new SAP version, SAP releases industry  best practice for each version of SAP.
    I have following points
    1. Can Customer can take the best practices solution and implement as it is?  If so how much time will it take ?
    2.  How the Best Practices documents are getting upgraded ?technically or functionally ?
I came to know that  many of the business scenarios versions are with the  same text and no new features. Is that correct or Am I wrong ?
3.Can we expect any support from SAP on best practices ?  Is it free support ?What are the contract agreements
    4. Any reference customers who implemented Best Practices as it is ?
    5. What is the success rate ?
    Regards,

BTW it is not clear from WHAT you want to migrate? Other DB or simply other Oracle version?
OK anyway speaking about Data migration strategy there is at least one valueable article
    http://www.dulcian.com/papers/The%20Complete%20Data%20Migration%20Methodology.html
Speking about technical execution you can look at my article Data migration from old to new application: an experience at http://www.gplivna.eu/papers/legacy_app_migration.htm
None of them focuse on datawarehouse though.

  • Tutorial with examples to practice SQL

    Hi,
I have read several tutorials related to the topics of "Oracle 11g- SQL Fundamental". But all of them describes SQL from theoretical point of view and none of them have any guided example, so that I can practice.
Please advice with some materials how I can practice in querying, joining, creating objects, etc, thus mainly working with database, not with administering.
    Thank you.

These forums are stuffed full of people posing SQL questions. Some are simple, some are tricky. It's a very good way of learning how to write SQL. It's one of the reasons why old lags like me answer questions here: we still discover new things about Oracle.

  • Twitter app - How do you delete it?

In an effort to make my phone a little bit faster, the Verizon employee told me to delete all unwanted/unnecessary/unused apps. I forgot to ask him about the Twitter app. I did not download it (as I prefer Facebook over Twitter and never use Twitter).
How do I delete this app? Its only 0.96MB but I dont want it on my phone.

    GhostRider wrote:
Thats pretty dumb! Its MY phone!! I should choose what I want/dont want on it
It wasnt on there when I bought the phone. When the phone was updated, there it was. At least give the option to delete it for petes sake.
Well, you have one thing correct here...it didn't come on the phone.
I've searched my Droid X from one end to the other. I haven't found a Twitter app. I have all of he available updates. Twiitter ain't there. So if it's on yer phone, it was downloaded by someone. I ain't even guessing who might have. The point of my post is that if the Twitter app is indeed on your phone, you should be able to un-install it by going to "Settings", "Applications", "Manage applications", then select the "Downloaded" tab. If it's on your phone, it should be in this list. Select it and you should see an un-install option. Click "uninstall" and you are done. By the way, this should be the way you un-installed the other apps you mentioned.
As for the apps that came pre-installed on the phone such as "Skype", "Blockbuster", and others, no, you can't un-install them. Period. It's not possible. Not gonna happen.
Now, if you wish to climb the highest mountains in the land and proclaim at the top of your lungs how unfair this practice is and how Verizon should allow us to control our phones and we bought and own the phones and Big Red Brotheris infringing on our rights an so on and so on....(whew, long breath)...you have my blessing. I will not infringe or denigrate your right to do so on a "public" forum (which really isn't public at all, but people don't read TSOs, do they?).
But take Wildman's suggestion under advisement, please.

My laptop is windows 64bit. I could not find R12 under this operating system. What is the OS?
Oracle EBS R12 cannot be installed on 64-bit and you will have to install it on 32-bit (or install on 32-bit then migrate to 64-bit).

  • How to become an Apple developer at 16?

I'm 16 and I would like to develop Apps, but I need to have 18 years old. What can I do? How can I practice and be prepared? I have started reading books about Apps developement. Thank you.

In theory, your parents can create a new Apple ID, in their name and with their payment information, and you can use it to distribute apps. But if you are just reading about it now, you still have a while to go. There is no point in paying any money yet. You can download Xcode for free and run apps in the simulator.

  • All text on website is acting as a (false) link, assistance greatly welcomed.

*Please open link in IE not FF*
The text and narrative in all of the pages on the website www.blindname.com/index.html and subsequent pages is acting as a 404/link, when I scan the code, there are no links visible and I have checked to see all the tags and am yet to find the problem.   Would you be so kind to be able to assist?
Many thanks, I will keep this window/thread open and will be here to talk.
I also am having layout problems in Firefox and Chrome.  Originally I designed it in FF and GC but could not get the IE working properly, so then decided to redo in IE and now cannot do FF. I may open up another thread for this when this problem is solved, and if it is more appropriate.

  • Purpose of instructor led training requirement for OCP?

What is the purpose of requiring OCP candidates to take an instructor led course? It all seems a bit random / superfluous. Costly too if one does not have an employer willing to pay for the training.
My Oracle Press "OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide" doesn't even hint that classes are a requirement for the OCP; the most said is: "The OCA qualification is based on two examinations; the OCP qualification requires passing a third examination." (pg. XXIX). An incomplete characterization, correct?
And "To prepare for the OCA/OCP examinations, you can attend Oracle University instructor-led training courses, you can study Oracle University online learning material, or you can read this book." (pg. XXIX). Prepare for the exams, sure. But why would such a book omit the not insignificant detail that a perhaps expensive course is required to get the OCP? Seems discourteous to the reader.
    From http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#5 via http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=198&p_org_id=&lang=
I say it seems random and superfluous because of the following list:
"These foundation courses meet the Hands On Course Requirement for OCP-Level certification:
    * Oracle Database 11g: Introduction to SQL
    * Oracle Database 11g: Introduction to SQL Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals l Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL and PL/SQL Fundamentals
    * Oracle Database 11g: SQL and PL/SQL Fundamentals Ed 1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: Develop PL/SQL Program Units
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I Ed 1.1 LVC
    * Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop II
    * Oracle Database 11g: Data Warehousing Fundamentals"
A modest Intro to SQL course will count? But an OCA will already have that knowledge. Obviously, one should choose a course with higher-level content. But I'm not sure I understand the logic of the OCA-grade courses being eligible. And for those funding certification without financial assistance from an employer, the question that suggests is this: what is the least expensive way to satisfy the "instructor led" course requirement? I cheapest price I see from Oracle is a 3 day class costing $1,800. It would also cost 3 days of vacation time, or unpaid leave, if an employer is not supportive of certification.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply Hans.
TO expose the candidate to techniques related to the new features rather than traditional techniques that are commonplace in the industry. That makes sense to me. But many of us like to tinker with new features on our own.In my experience, many, many more people want the OCP without doing any work. Some will use pure memorization or out and cheating to get there.
It's unfortunate that you and I get penalized by those.
    >
And to ensure that the has had at least some hands-on time, instead of only pure theory. While some people may get hands-on at work, many others do not
have that opportunityh, especially in the are of new features. Then it might make sense for OCP certification to allow submission of proof of work experience in place of the HOC, as is the case with other professional certifications.
    Yes, that would be nice.
But difficult to verify. and you would be surprised how many organizations have very narrow definitions of the job. Experimenting not allowed in some places.
It all seems a bit random / superfluous. Sad, from an instructors and OCP's point of view, to hear you think of it that way.I don't mean to say there isn't anything new any of us couldn't pick up, say, even from an Intro to SQL course. There's a vastness to most technology topics and we can't master every facet. But the cost/benefit ratio may be terribly low for those who are already Oracle professionals with many years of on the job experience. The reality as well is that some instructors are duds--that's the case anywhere. And for my learning style, I prefer self-guided / on-my-own study.
Costly too if one does not have an employer willing to pay for the training. No doubt.
My Oracle Press "OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide" doesn't even hint that classes are a requirement for the OCP; the most said is: "The
OCA qualification is based on two examinations; the OCP qualification requires passing a third examination." (pg. XXIX). An incomplete characterization, correct?A topic to discuss with the authors, and publisher. We (the user community with whom you are talking) have little to no control over this.Wonder if the authors participate in these forums. I realize you, as a user, have no control over this. But a book blessed by Oracle via Oracle Press, I respectfully submit, can and should do better--by including details about the HOC requirement.
Some do. But much more effetive would be to lodge a formal complaint or inquiry.
"These foundation courses meet the Hands On Course Requirement for OCP-Level certification:
...All of which will ensure you have had time becoming acquainted with SQLPLus, DBControl, and perhaps SQLDeveloper.I already use all 3 tools. Would love to take all the courses listed; but I'm not independently wealthy or otherwise.
    So would I. ;-)
As well as logging in (you would be surprised how many OCA candidates do not know how), these all give you an opportunity to issue SQL and PL/SQL
commands. Scary, but seems beside the point. The HOC requirement is one solution to this problem, but it seems like a sub-optimal one. Again, this punishes Oracle professionals already working in the field who'd like to become certified. Why is there no regard for them? One way to correct this, if this is a genuine concern on Oracle's part, is to include a "live" aspect to the exams. Then, if this causes a fail, those who flunk might be interested in taking HOCs to remedy this. In this day and age, I'm certain training could involve interactive SQL*PLUS sessions, etc. Only a failure of imagination and will could prevent I suspect; particularly in a world of virtualization. I'd consider a redesign of exams before I'd require people to pay for classes they may be unable to pay for. It's a bit of an insult to working Oracle professionals who want to add certification.
I agree to some extent. Again, the issue is the consistency in experience. I have met people with 10 years of experience, and others with 10 times 1 year of experience.
A modest Intro to SQL course will count? But an OCA will already have that knowledge. I wish this was consistently true. Then I mispoke. But the HOC still punishes existing Oracle professionals.
I sympathize. I'm an independent, and all exams and certification costs come out of my own (corporate=me) pocket. But life in the professional fast lane is not
cheap. This topic has been the source of some contention for quite some time.
Unfortunately a number of people have been unscrupulous in their method of getting certification - cheating, using gunners, and so on - and I see this as one of
the few ways to combat the issue. If the cheating issue is just left alone, the value of OCP (and any other certification) is effectively lost. The unscrupulous, I'm afraid, will always be with us. This problem is not solved, I'm also afraid, by requiring a costly HOC. It is in my opinion one potential solution of many, and not at all the best one. I wonder how other vendors with certifications handle this. I do know that some industry-generic certifications require proof of X years of work in the field (e.g. GISPs), as well as providing proof of various contributions to the field. This could be gamed as well I suppose. But the honest should not be punished along with the dishonest.Basically I agree with the sentiment. Implementation is the issue.
    >
Bottom line: in my view, a few alternate solutions to the HOC are:
    1) Allow submission of work credentials to substitute for the HOC
    2) Incorporate hands-on aspects to the exam, e.g. a SQL*PLUS simulator.
I'm sure the brilliant minds at Oracle, or a suitable contractor, could easily accomplish #2. And #1 might be a true bar-raiser. It seems highly unlikely to me that, say, requiring an Intro to SQL HOC course raises the bar more than a few millimeters. There have been many discussions around this. Several of us have even considered non-vendor certifications as a route to accomplish this.
It is an imperfect world. But hopefully the steps will correct some of the deficiencies.
I am sure Paul and the rest of the Certification team would be happy to hear more feedback on how to implement practical verifiable real-world experience alternatives to the HOC that do not increase Oracle's costs.
    >
Since both are unlikely to happen any time soon, what is the least expensive option for the HOC and where do I find a list of courses and institutions that offer them? In my view, Oracle should provide this information as a courtesy. No reason not to unless there is a revenue motive; and the author of the blog posts you sent me assures us the addition of the HOC is not a revenue enhancement maneuver. I'd be more inclined to believe it if those words were backed-up with helpful actions like the one I've proposed--since such a thing seems not to exist. All courses and course locations are available through http://education.oracle.com (and have been available for years) as well as the price. Oracle's policy does not allow for much price variation for education. The exception is when bulk purchased are negotiated, which is outside what you and I can talk with them about.
