How to do PSD file naming

Howdy... can anybody give me the exact conventions on naming my PSD files? Can I use a period in my file names? Can I use 2 periods in my file names? (I named a file "Lt. Blue and Dk. Blue.PSD" and it did not save as a (recognized) PSD file. I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Thanks for you email! I pretty much came to that conclusion ("Better to use hyphens or underscores to separate elements in your file name")... after trying to save a file for, like 4 times. I did find this link:

but I believe I'll follow your advice. (I'm using Windows 7 -- CS6)

Then after completing your work, click save and it will open save Box,
make sure the file format in the box should be PSD and then you may save the file and then you can share with any one.
Any one who has Photoshop will be able to open that file and can edit the layers and fonts..

Currently the only way to open psd files on Photoshop touch is via the creative cloud. Also, the layers you created from Photoshop on your desktop machine will be flattened when opened with Photoshop touch on your iPad. But you can retain the layers from the touch app when opening the psdx file on your desktop photoshop.

How to use PSD files as a flash page

I have read that I can use a psd file in Flash as a "page".
At what version does this become possible. Can I take a multi-layer
PSD file that was exported from a Flash program and make changes to
it in Illustrator and then import it back in as a page? Where can I
find information on what product versions I need for both me

How to Edit PSD Files In Flash Template

Hi Everyone,
I am new to flash and I am trying to create my first flash site using a template that I have downloaded. I can edit the first page fine, but when I click the "about us" or any other section, the standard template text, Which isn't even in english, appears. I believe that these are psd files, and I have tried to edit them, saved and replaced file on my computer, but still I get the same unchanged text on this site when I preview. Could someone please tell me how to edit and replace these files within the flash movie?

Instance names are the reference names that you give to the individual items on the stage. Only movieClip and button symbols can have instance names.
When you import a photoshop file to Flash you will get individual bitmap objects on the stage and in a folder in the movie's Library. You will need to select each item, one at a time, on the stage and convert each one to a symbol. When you make that conversion the name that you give to that new movieClip or button is the name that you will see in the Library.
When you select that new symbol on the stage, look at the Properties window. You will now see a space at the top where you can give that item an instance name. The instance name is what you will use in Actionscript to control that object on the stage.
When you look in the movie's Library, you will see the original bitmap and the symbol that you created that contains that bitmap.

Which version of Photoshop are you using? Photoshop CC?
You'll probably still want to save you PSD files locally to the computers hard drive. You can upload them to the Creative Cloud files page here https://creative.adobe.com/files through the browser.
Then you could download it on another computer to work on it there.

How to open psd files without the cloud?

I just downloaded Adobe Touch for digital scrapbooking purposes. How can I open a psd file that I've downloaded and unzipped if I don't want to use the Adobe Common Cloud? Ideally I'd like my ipad to have an "open in Adobe Touch" option after I've unzipped the file.

PS Touch can't open PSDs locally. They have to be imported via Creative Cloud (and even then, they are flattened when imported).
I imagine this was a "quality of life" decision since PS Touch can only support up to 16 layers in a particular project. That and maybe the fact that Photoshop (and Photoshop Elements) can use layer masks, which PS Touch doesn't presently have.

Well seeing as that psd is merely a flat iamge, your options are to use Image Trace to trace the .psd or to redraw it entirely.
There's no pure, simple, clean, manner to convert a flat raster iamge to an Illustrator vector file.

I have just moved over to win7 64bit pro from XP and have Photoshop CS6 installed now, however I only see psd icons in the Photoshop file open window which is crazy, Pshop needs to show its files as images, goes without saying doesnt it, yet I see icons.
Whats the fix so I see images as I did in XP ?

Right-click on the psd in LR and select 'Edit in PHotoshop'.That will open it in Photoshop with its current filename or a new filename with Edit added to the end, with or without any LR edits you may have added to it.

Html is not an image format. It is a text format that can point to a png or jpg image in your web page.
Depending on the image, it may be easier to just export as a jpg or png and let dreamweaver worry about the html and css.
However, if you preview the image from the save for web dialog box in a web browser, it will give you the html code, that was generated for that preview.
In the windows menu you should find a css panel to use.
