How to do Replication

Hi Everybody,
I have an issue and I would appriciate you if you can solve my issue. I have limitted knowledge in Oracle. So please help me how to do replication..
My company is Retail Sales Bussines. We have many brances in different location. So i have to go all the brances once in a week to take backup and bring to main office to give reports to my management. In this case Im wasting lot of time. If I can able to replicate all the branch database to main office this would save my lot of times and pressure.
Each branch having same set of tables. I dont need to replicate inbetween branchs, i just need only replicate all branch database to main office Database.
I am using Oracle 10g R1 Database and Forms.
So please help me anyone how to do this....
Thanks in advance..
Regards
Irsath Ahamed.

Dear Babu.,
Thanks for your reply.. Let me read the articles and I will come back to you...
One more thing, which kind of connection would you prefere between brance office and main office.. I have ADSL internet connection only at main office and branch office having dialup connection only.. This will do replication?..
Regards,
Irsath Ahamed.

  • How does Sybase Replication Server capture data changes?

    Hello,
as far as I know Sybase Replication Server is a central component in a HANA-based enviroment when it comes to replicate data towards HANA engine.
I scan briefly through a white paper of Sybase, but I gives no technical description how the Sybase Replication Server captures data change on the source database.
    Can someone gives here explanation?
    All the best,
    Guido

    Hello Marc,
thanks for fair and hornest answer!
I'm currently involved in SAP based project where we are migrated business on DB level, which is some kind of operation a heart. I personally have huge respect for this approach.
Caputring the changes on DB level is a appoarch, but I personally think that you need to capture event on business object level. For exammple the SAP good old workflow knows events for business objects. Also in a ESA-driven application you should have some kind on eventing for business objects.
For the time being the current approach might working for a kind of Proof-of-Concept,
but on a mid and long-term based you need to RETHINK!
All the best & Merry Christmas & Happy new year

  • How the transactional replication work for simple recovery database (looking for some internal concept)

How the transactional replication work for simple recovery database (looking for some internal concept)
    Rahul

There seems to be a new myth going around recently. I’ve had at least three people tell me, in the last month, that SQL’s transactional replication requires the database to be in full recovery.
This is complete fabrication. Replication (SQL native replication, that is) can work with the databases in any of the recovery models.
Transactional replication does involve the transaction log, as that’s where it picks up changes from. The log reader scans over the transaction log looking for log records marked for replication, copies those to the distribution database and then marks them
as replicated. When the checkpoint (for simple recovery) or log backup (for full or bulk logged) occur, the log will only be truncated up to the oldest inactive, replicated transaction.
Because transactional replication has its own way of ensuring log records aren’t discarded before been picked up by the log reader, there’s no requirement for a specific recovery model.

  • 9.2.0.6 DataGuard - how to "break" replication, make standby "standalone"

    Hi All,
I have an existing 9.2.0.6.0 DataGuard environment, where currently I just have one primary and one physical standby database. I am planning to add in another physical standby database, but then at some point, I want to "break" the dataguard replication to this one, and basically take it out of the DataGuard environment, and have it run as a standalone database. I am not talking about putting it into "open read-only" mode, I want to completely remove it from the DataGuard replication, and have it up and running as a standalone db. Is that even possible? I don't see anything mentioned about this in the official DataGuard documentation.
If anyone has any thoughts on the best way to do this, I'd really appreciate it!!
    Thanks,
    Brad

Actually, both... here is my potential plan:
    1. Put a copy of the production database onto the new hardware, and instantiate it into the DataGuard configuration as a new physical standby database.
    2. "Break" the dataguard replication, so that the new database on the new hardware becomes a standalone database, separate from DataGuard. At this point, we can test out some of the application against this database. The testing could last up to a few weeks.
    3. Once we are happy with the testing, then we need to re-create this database as a backup from production, and get it back into the DataGuard replication as a standby. When it is time to cutover the production system, then we do a DataGuard Switchover, so that the database on the new hardware becomes the new primary database, replicating out.
Does that sound feasible? I think I can take care of all of those steps, the only one that I don't really know how to do is step 2, where we "break" the dataguard replication, and bring up the database on the new hardware as a fully stand-alone db.
    Thanks,
    Brad

  • How to trigger replication from CRM to ECC when changing custom z-field?

    Hi all,
I've created a z-field in CRM which matches the field KNVV-KLABC in ECC. I've created the needed user exits to replicate from ECC to CRM and vice versa. The functions are called and update successfully. So actually everything works fine except for one thing...
When I change the z-field in CRM - and only that one field - the replication is not triggered hence KNVV-KLABC is not updated. When I however change my z-field together with another pricing field (e.g. Customer Group) then the replication runs and both fields are updated in ECC.
How can I trigger the replication if only my z-field is changed?
    Best regards,
    Melanie

    Hi there,
    Thanks for your replies.
I've solved this myself a couple of days ago. However I did it in a different way as suggested here. I will post my solution as soon as I find the time to do the documentation.
Maybe as a hint if someone runs into this; adding a field to the pricing structure of the BP sales areas (SET0030 if you need to know) seems strangely enough "not possible" - I mean it's "not ready yet".
AET f.i. doesn't allow you to add a field there and with EEWB you cannot choose to replicate it to R3. Thus for my solution I had to change SAP Standard unfortunatelly. Also the my customer wants to be able to search for this new field on the Account Search Page - so many steps were needed to achieve all this. As I mentioned I shall present my solution as soon as I get the time for it. If I should forget and you need to know how I did it you may reply to this thread as I'm watching it so I'll be reminded.
    Best regards,
    Melanie

  • How to supervise Replication Process

    Hello,
On Directory Server 5.2. How can i supervise the replication process ? I want to supervise automaticly the process : if it is running or not. The best way (if it's possible), without scan access log.
    Can you help me

I have not used the Perl tools I mentioned below.
Someone had recommended the use of these two tools to check if the replication has done its job of maintaining LDAP data integrity, i.e. same content before master and slave, I think this is more complete than just checking if replication is "running".

  • How to change replication manager ack policy?

    Hello all
I have installed my Berkley_db and I enabled replication using the following command:
    -enable-pthread-api
Now, I would like to change my replication manager ack policy and perform some tests.
I know that I have to use this method:
    repmngr_set_ack_policy
However, I don't know how to call the above method...
Shall I insert an entry in a specific file?
Shall I give it as a command line?
I must note that I replicate some data in other three servers. The change of the ack policy will automatically work and affect all three servers or will I have to perform the changes manually on every one of them?
    Thank you in advance!
    Edited by: user546168 on 10 Δεκ 2011 1:13 πμ

    Hello,
    You can read about:
    DB_ENV->repmgr_set_ack_policy() at:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17076_02/html/api_reference/C/repmgrset_ack_policy.html
A few points to note are:
    0. You can set the ack policy programmatcially or via an environment
    DB_CONFIG file. If using a DB_CONFIG enter "repmgr_set_ack_policy"
a blank space and the ack_policy parameter required. For example:
    repmgr_set_ack_policy DB_REPMGR_ACKS_ALL
A DB_CONFIG file is read when the database environment is opened,
so it will overrule any configuration done before that time.
    1. All sites in a replication group need to be configured with the
    same acknowledgement policy.
    2. The DB_ENV->repmgr_set_ack_policy() method configures the database
environment, not only the operations performed using the specified
    DB_ENV handle.
    3. You can invoke DB_ENV->repmgr_set_ack_policy() method at any time
during the life of the application.
    Thank you,
    Sandra

  • How to avoid replication of certain transaction types

    Hi all,
Contract is created in the R/3 system of transaction type Z111. This transaction type is not created in CRM in the SPRO(customer relationship management -> Transactions ->basic settings -> Define transaction types). This means documents of this transaction type cannot be created in CRM or documents created in R/3 should not be replicated to CRM.
How to avoid the documents created in R/3 of transaction type Z111 from being replicated to R/3. Should some settings be done in transaction "FIBF" in R/3???
    Any idea.
    Thanks in advance
    Jothi

    Hi Gun,
Thanks for the answer. In salescontract (Tcode R3AC1) the following filter condition is defined.
    Table - vbak
    field -auart
    Value - z910
    Incl/Excl - inclusive defined set/array
But the value z900 is not specifed. The Bus_trans_msg which gets replicated into CRM is of type z900.
    Hence any idea.
Can an additional filter be added saying as follows to prevent replication of Z900 like this.
    Table - vbak
    field -auart
    value - z900
    Incl/Excl - space
    Will this solve the problem.
    Best regards
    Jothi

  • How to define replication groups?

              Hai All!
Can anybody suggest steps in detail to define a groups in a cluster of
servers for the purpose of inline memmory replication through console or by any
other way? I am unable to find neccessary info regarding this in docs.
Note i want help regarding how to define a group and not the assigning primary
and secondary groups to the servers in a cluster.
              TIA

    Hi,
For most situations, there is no need to define a replication group. Simply define
the machines and servers in your cluster and denote which servers are located on
which machines. WebLogic will do its best to make sure that the primary and
secondary are not located on the same machine. Replication groups allow you to
have more control over the selection of secondary server selection if you had some
extraordinary situation where you needed something other than making sure the
primary and secondary copies were on servers located on different machines.
              Hope this helps,
              Robert
