How to Do searching in this forum

Hi all,
I want to how to do searching for this forum. Let us say i am only interested in forum posting where SAPscirpt and email will appear.
Should i do "sapscript" and "email"? i tried, but it is not working. I am getting all link which is having either of the word.
any ideas?

When i searched for your requirements i got only the first link containing both the terms.Probably that is the only link available.
The various combinations i tried was :
"SAP script" & "Email"
"SAP" & "script" & "Email"

How to Search in this Forum?

This isn't a Dreamweaver question, but a Dreamweaver Forum question. From this forum I type a search keyword in the "Search Forums" box on the top right. But the results are for all the Adobe forums. I have never had this problem with any other forums except Adobe forums. Without having to go into more options and then scrolling down thru this list of All Adobe programs, how can I simply seach this forum, the forum I am already in?

Problems with searching in this forum

Is anyone else finding that the searching in this forum is no longer bringing back the same information that it used to? The problem seems to have started in the last few days. Any advice would be appreciated. I hope Sun fixes this!

It looks like they are redesigning the search and they have a link to the beta version on the page. I tried it but it doesn't search just the forum we're in like the current search used to do. I don't like the new search page at all!
I told them that on their feedback link also.

Searches in this forum.

Searches in this forum are never fruitful for me even when I know a topic exists because it's one that I posted. I can enter the entire subject line of my post in the search filed and turn up lots of unrelated posts but the one I was looking for is no where to be found even when it clearly should be right at the top of the list assuming the list is sorted by relevancy and I typed the exact subject line in to the search field. Not a very intuitive style of searching when that can happen. I hope this eventually gets fixed someday.

I found a Topic you started, using the Search Terms "new voices in leopard", and searching your alias for the text field Restrict by Username:.
View the Search Results.
Alternately, using the Search TermS new+voices++in+leopard, with no Username, produces the Same Results.
But I agree with you, that the Search function is very inadequate.

How to format posts in this forum.

As you may have noticed posts in this form lose all formatting when you post even when you use formatting tags. Unfortunatley this well known yet mysteriously unresolved issue is true for almost all of the recently added forums, which seems a pity because several, like this one seem to be in concept a good idea.
Of course no formatting is a pain because it creates unreadable posts.
But wait there's a paragraph break! And here's another one! How did I do this?
Thankfully the same bug that means that normal formatting tags are not enabled for this forum also means that HTML tags ARE enabled for this forum.
Feedback has been reported on this issue since early June to no avail and I don't expect any change any time soon so I thought I'd let those interested in participating in this forum how they can actually post posts that can be read.
Finally here's a quickie HTML primer to help those who need it.

And just to note for the pre and bold tags you will need closing tags at the end of the text you want to format in this manner. Otherwise it will not stop which will also be unplesant. Ending tags look like and </pre>

There may be others but certainly these newish ones are all broken and need to be fixed. This bug is annoying from a user perspective but also they can be dangerous as well if exploited

Although I have selected the no mail notification to stop emails being sent to me, this has not stopped them. I simply do not want emails from this forum
now, so could someone please tell me how to make them stop?

How do I search a specific forum with GCS?

Hi All
I have built a Google Custom search for SAP workflow related information. I am currently using the SDN home page as one of my sites to search but I want this restricted to just the Workflow forum. I also want to search for All threads not just for the default 90 days.
Any clues or pointers on what is the best way to achieve this? I had a look at this thread Google beats SDN: 1 to 0 which refers to being "logged in", can some one clarify it further?

Not sure about the logged in part, but within the SDN Workflow search you would be looking for these parameters:
&objID=f146
&dateRange=all
You can also toggle the output sort order using
&rankBy=10001 <-- Relevance
&rankBy=9 <-- Date
etc.
E.g.=> https://forums.sdn.sap.com/search.jspa?threadID=&q=ravi&objID=f146&dateRange=all&numResults=15&rankBy=9

This is just question about formatting to be done while posting..
sorry to post a non technical question...
okay..
for example if put some code beetween code tags it looks fine...
but if i post or copy query output from sqlplus or manual copy paste why its not being displayed correctly as it is..
even if i put that also within tags of code then also it wont aligned properly....
can somebody sugges on this..even pre command doesnot work incase of output data in the post...
please suggest..

so deleting account is a better optionWell, no, the better option is that you try and do your work by looking in the documentation first, and then if you're stuck with something, even after looking at the documentation, you ask a question on here (just once, no benefit to opening multiple questions the same), giving all the details and showing what you've tried yourself. If you ask questions properly, then people are more than willing to help.

How to use this forum's search

Is there an easy way to search just this forum? When using the "Search Forums" box at the top right, I get results from all different forums.
I know I could go into "More options" or whatever its called, spend a minute or two finding the right Forum in the list and select it, hoping I got the right one. Thats not usable at all.
Whats the better way?

How to effectively ask a question on this forum

Ok, so this'll take a little explaining. I was kinda bored over my lunch break, so i decided I'd write a general reference for how to post well on this forum. I realize that many people aren't gonna read this the first time they post, but i thought it would be a good thing to reference when replying to people who post a poor question.
_10 Ways to Post a Good Question on this Forum_
_1) Write a descriptive subject line_
This is the first thing that people see, and it influences how they read a question. Subjects like "Java error" tell people nothing about your problem. Subjects like "How to implement a SAX parser for use in multiple classes" are infinitely more useful.
_2) Don't use phrases such as URGENT or HELP ME!!! or IT'S DUE IN AN HOUR!!!!_
The people on this forum don't have the same priorities as you, and therefore don't care if your problem is urgent. In fact, they find it rude to assert that your problem should be solved before somebody else's just because you procrastinated. They also don't pleas for help too fondly. Typically posters who write this sort of phrase in their post has given up and become helpless, making it very difficult to guide them to the answer. Also, keep the caps lock off. THERE IS NOTHING MORE ANNOYING THAN ALL-CAPS POSTS. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE YELLING, and people will make you aware of how it annoys them.
_3) Dont post your homework assignments asking for "teh codez"_
You will get flamed like none other for this sort of question. You may get codes, but when you submit them to your instructor, you may get suspended or expelled (depending on your school's cheating policy). The people on this forum are more advanced than you in Java, and can make it painfully obvious to your instructor that you cheated.
_4) Write in normal English_
Think of this forum as your supervisor or instructor, you want to sound professional and convey your question effectively. SMS speak or any other sort of abbreviation of the English language becomes difficult to read, and many people on this forum won't even try. This forum is filled with professionals in the Java world, and they are accustomed to reading true English (full sentences).
_5) Don't be helpless_
This forum is here mainly to help with specific problems, not to teach you Java. If you don't know where to start, a person is most likely going to tell you to write the solution out on paper first, breaking it down into small steps that can be accomplished by the computer.
_6) Do your research_
Many of the questions posted can be solved with a quick Google search. You should check a few places before you even post a question. They include: this forum (do a forum search), Google (do a Google search), the API's (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/), and the Java Tutorials(http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/)
_7) Post code and errors with your question_
The answer to your problem is in the error messages and the code. Instead of asking a general question about for loops, post the code that you have written and the error info that you get. When asking a question it is IMPERATIVE that you have tried to do it your own way, because the people on the forum mostly won't do it for you, they'll only point out where you have done it wrong and try to help you fix it. Don't paraphrase your error messages, because there are subtleties in the actual messages that you may unknowingly edit out.
_8) Don't Multi-post_
It is rude to post the same question multiple times or in multiple places in the this forum. This is for the same reason as #2, it makes it seem that you think your problem is more urgent or important than others' problems.
_9) Don't resurrect dead threads_
If a thread is 3 years old, nobody is going to remember it, so make a new thread to ask your question. If you have a question about something in the old thread, reference it through a hyperlink.
_10) Take it easy_
As long as the people in the forum see that you're legitimately trying to help yourself, they'll help you as much as they see fit. The biggest problem that newbies have is they rely on the forum to spoonfeed them the info, and it's not going to happen. They'll either get flamed or ignored. The people on the forum aren't trying to find "fresh meat to flame", they legitimately want to help you, and they'll typically give you fair warning if you're doing something annoying or unorthodox.
