How to do 'shadow'?

When I was using Adobe Bridge on my PC (i'm a recent Mac OSX 'switcher'), it was using Adobe Camera Raw and had something called 'Shadows' - along with Exposure, Brightness, Contrast and Saturation.
I'm sure it's just a combined effect, but I'd like to know how to accomplish the same thing using Aperture.

Lars - the Shadow slider in ACR is the opposite of the Exposure slider - it sets the point at which things go black. Nothing to do with shadow/highlight recovery, rather the opposite!
aamic - just use the leftmost control in the Levels adjustment tool (probably best to use the Luminance model).

Because all of your actors are in a different 3D plane you'll have to separate each out on their own layer, then position them in 3D space. You'll also need to create a 3D floor for them to stand on. This layout is the trickey part because it's difficult to match the perspective by eye. The best hint that I can give you is that perspective is a function of camera position (which should be at it's default position) and that the zoom factor is only used to frame up the shot.
The 3D floor is made of a white solid with accepts lights turned off and accepts shadows turned on. You could then multiply this layer over the original JPG background shot.
I hope this points you in the right direction. Faking shadows in 3D space isn't easy.

There are a number of ways to manipulate images to lessen the effects of shadows, ranging from doing something like Image - Adjust - Shadows/Highlights to selecting specific parts and doing spot editing.
Can you please be more specific about what it is you want to do? Maybe post a small sample image here (using the little camera icon just above where you type) showing the shadows you'd like to remove.

I used JDev: 11.1.1.4.0, chrome: Version 26.0.1410.64
In our application, when open a popup window, there is shadow with popup window, and only appears in chrome browser, not in IE or Firefox broswer, just like the screen snapshot.

Jus set the size (height and width ) in ROOTUIELEMENT of the popup view. This will resolve ur issue.

You're welcome you did a real fine work.
To make line pattern I staart off with one line and use the Effect>Distirt and Transform>Transform and then enter the distance i want the lines to be apart and then the number of copies. that can actually be made into a pattern swatch tah can be used as one of the fills. That way if you wish to edit the number of lines you have a live preview to judge from…

What version of photoshop elements are you using?
One way is to use Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Shadows/Hightlights in the photoshop elements editor.
You might have to make a selection around the area first, using the Quick Selection Tool, depending on the look your going for.
Another way is to open the photo into the Camera Raw dialog.

Problem with the back camera in iPhone 4 (Black Shadow)

Hi, I have a problem with the back camera. When turned on I can see a black shadow on one side and when I take the photo, appears in all the photos.
I searched on the Internet to resolve this problem but I haven't been successful. A friend told me that maybe it is dirt that was introduced into the cover but I don't think It's true.
The iPhone haven't dropped me for some quite time and don't crashing.

It certainly does work.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Enable Shadow Copies for Shared Folders in a Failover Cluster (2012 R2)

I cannot find a reference on how to Enable Shadow Copies for Shared Folders in a Failover Cluster
using separate disks for Data and Shadow Copies, using Windows Server 2012 R2. I found an article for Server 2003, but that doesn't solve my issue.
Enable Shadow Copies for Shared Folders in a cluster. Can someone point me to documentation on how to setup properly?
I have a 3 server failover cluster, a single fileserver role with a 2 TB data storage drive and a 200 GB disk for shadow copy drive. The 2 TB is ReFS and being used by Home Directories. The 200 GB is also ReFS, but I didn't have a letter
assigned, but it is associated with the fileserver role.
Any help is appreciated.

As mentioned above I spotted Shadow Copy configuration problems in clustered environment on Windows 2012 R2 with latest updates.
Enabling Shadow Copy via Cluster Manager on disk will enable schedule and snapshots but schedule is not-cluster aware (is created locally on node) and "Previous Versions" are visible only locally but not via shared folders (UNC path accesible by
clients)
When I spotted this behavior I tried different way going via Computer Management and cluster resource name but console always hangs for me when using "Configure Shadow Copies". After many minutes configuration window is opened (Hurray!) but any
action there will hang whole console again. Enabling Shadow Copies will fail with "0x80004005: Unspecified
error" for creating scheduled task but "Next Run Time" column still shows "Disabled". Checking disk resource via Cluster Manager shows it is enabled and ?local? scheduled task is created.
Computer management console still shows DISABLED and any action freezes whole console (only when cluster resource name is used).
This fix I found, unfortunately, is not applicable to 2012 R2 OS: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2894464
To sum up there is a major bug in MS implementation in Shadow Copies for Shared Folders when clustering is used or it is still not supported in 2012 R2? Doing it outside cluster works as it should (without freezes and Previous Versions are available via
UNC)
There is no documentation about FileServer Clustering on 2012(R2) unfortunately.
Could someone from MS clarify it?

Ok, one correction:
Scheduled task is not created in "Failover Clustering" hive of Scheduled tasks as user may expect but failover of fileshare to other node will unregister/reregister it on active node only.

I don't use a .compton.conf, but try 'i:ai:google-chrome', or 'n:ai:google-chrome'. Assuming it is a shadow-based problem.
