  • How to write SQL hints for this query?

    The query is like:
    select * from foo, t
    where foo.name in
    (select name from bar
    where id in (
    select id from car
    where date < sysdate
    and foo.a = t.b;
I want the innermostsubquery 'select id from car ...' to be executed first, and the subquery 'select name from bar ...' to be execute second, and the outermost query 'select * from foo,t ...' to be executed the last. How can I write the Oracle sql hints to force the order?
    Thanks.

    user553560
You might be able to create a large set of hints to force the access path you want - but unless you really know what you are doing with hints, you may find that your solution is very unstable (it might be luck rather than correctness that let's it work to start with).
The difficulty in this query is the double layer of IN subqueries, so if you can rewrite the query, you might try manually unnesting as follows:
    select
         t1.*. t.*
    from
              select
                   distinct t2.name
              from     t2
              where     t2.id in (
                        select     t3.id
                             from     t3
                        where     t3.dated < sysdate
         )     v,
         t1,
         t
    where
         t1.name = v.name
and     t1.a = t.bDepending on your indexing and statistics, you may find that a simple /*+ unnest */ hint in the first subquery will be sufficient to do this for your. Again depending on the statistics you may find that you have to put extra hints into the above to make Oracle use the join method and indexes you think appropriate.
N.B. The first step (as others have noted) is to check that your statistics are good before you start manipulating the code or using hints.

  • How to write sql query for counting pairs from below table??

Below is my SQL table structure.
    user_id | Name | join_side | left_leg | right_leg | Parent_id
    100001 Tinku Left 100002 100003 0
    100002 Harish Left 100004 100005 100001
    100003 Gorav Right 100006 100007 100001
    100004 Prince Left 100008 NULL 100002
100005 Ajay Right NULL NULL 100002
100006 Simran Left NULL NULL 100003
100007 Raman Right NULL NULL 100003
100008 Vijay Left NULL NULL 100004
It is a binary table structure.. Every user has to add two per id under him, one is left_leg and second is right_leg... Parent_id is under which user current user is added.. Hope you will be understand..
I have to write sql query for counting pairs under id "100001". i know there will be important role of parent_id for counting pairs. * what is pair( suppose if any user contains  both left_leg and right_leg id, then it is called pair.)
I know there are three pairs under id "100001" :-
    1.  100002 and 100003
    2.  100004 and 100005
    3.  100006 and 100007
100008 will not be counted as pair because it does not have right leg..
But i dont know how to write sql query for this... Any help will be appreciated... This is my college project... And tommorow is the last date of submission.... Hope anyone will help me...
Suppose i have to count pair for id '100002'. Then there is only one pair under id '100002'. i.e 100004 and 100005

    Sounds like this to me
    DECLARE @ID int
    SET @ID = 100001--your passed value
    SELECT left_leg,right_leg
    FROM table
    WHERE (user_id = @ID
    OR parent_id = @ID)
    AND left_leg IS NOT NULL
    AND right_leg IS NOT NULL

  • Need PL/SQL code for this

    Hi,
I need a PL/SQL code for this one...
Let me know if something is not clear...
    1) The table CLOB_CLOBJECT_CDA has the columns described below...
Explaining only those fields which are important in this context
    -- CDA_STEP_ID : Basically a Sequence
-- CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID : Every id has got a set of records
-- CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID : Every id has got a set of records
-- LVL : There are total 8 levels..
This is the main aim :
    1) There are total 16 million rows..(limited to 10 rows here)
    2) We need to go through level by level (LVL column) & insert the intersection records (CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID intersect CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID)
into another table...but this is how it goes..
Level (LVL column) 3's basically have CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID as level (LVL column) 2 CDA_STEP_ID's..
(consider the statement --** where CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID = 285 which is same as 1st insert statement step id)..
The above process goes for next levels until 8..(so have to use loops)
    So for ex :
We go through the first insert statement and insert the insertion records only when both CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID & CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID has got records ..
If we don't find any records for both of them we should skip the corresponding step id when we go to the next levels...
Let's go through the 1st insert statement...
    -- We have CDA_STEP_ID = 285 & two sources CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID as 19 & CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID as 74...
-- We see the table CLOBJECT_COUNTS & check whether we have counts for both 19 & 74 ..(In fact we insert counts into this table only if they have records)
-- If so, we insert the intersection records into CDA_MRN_RESULTS ( we do have counts for both of them..) with CDA_STEP_ID 285...
-- Then we insert the step id which is 285 along with the count into CLOBJECT_COUNTS..
Let's go through another insert statement...
    -- Consider CDA_STEP_ID = 288 which has two sources CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID as 19 & CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID as 92...
-- We see the table CLOBJECT_COUNTS & check whether we have counts for both 19 & 92 ..(we have records for 19 but not for 92)
-- So we should not proceed with this..& also skip all those records (future records with increasing levels..basically level 3's) which have got 288 as CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID..
(As said earlier that the present CDA_STEP_ID will always be CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID in the next level)...
I wrote the following code which is after the statement...
Let me have the create & insert statements here..
    create table CLOB_CLOBJECT_CDA

  • How to create sql query for item master with operator LIKE with variables?

    hi all,
How to create sql query for item master with
operator LIKE(Contains,Start With,End With) with variables using query generator in SAP B1 ?
    Jeyakanthan

    Hi Jeyakanthan,
here is an example (put the like statement into the where field)
    SELECT T0.CardCode, T0.CardName FROM OITM T0 WHERE T0.CardName Like '%%test%%'
The %% sign is a wildcard. If you need start with write 'test%%' and otherwise ends with '%%test'. For contains you need '%%test%%'. You also could combinate this statements like 'test%%abc%%'. This means starts with test and contains abc.

  • How to write Select statement for this codition

I need to check whether SGTXT contains BELNR value.
SGTXT is a text field and It should be matched with BELNR
How to write select statement for this.
    Select AUGBL AUGDT into t_BSAD
    from BSAD
where SGTXT should have the given BELNR Value.
Plz note : Here I cannot give as SGTXT = BELNR as coz BELNR have only 10 digits.

    Hi,
    data temp(12).
concatenate '%' belnr '%' into temp.
    Select AUGBL AUGDT into t_BSAD
    from BSAD
    where SGTXT like temp.
If belnr is having multiple values, just create a internal table as follows.
    types : begin of ty,
            belnr....
            temp(12),
            end of ty.
data itab_ type standard table of ty.
    data wa type ty.
    loop at itab into wa.
    concatenate '%' wa-belnr '%' into wa-temp.
modify itab from wa index sy-tabix transporting temp.
    endloop.
    Change your select statement accordingly.
Kindly reward poits if it helps.

  • Is it possible to share my calendar with all my subscription? If so How can i find URL for this?

Is it possible to share my calendar with all my subscription? If so How can i find URL for this?

    Hi yilmazfromlondon,
The resource below explains how to share your iCloud calendars publicly.  Is this what you are asking about?
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2690
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. For specifics about viewing and editing privileges for shared calendars, and how participants can access the calendars, see Calendar sharing overview.
    Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note: You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.
    Share a calendar publicly
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note: You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.
