How to downgrade back from IOS 4.2.1

I have had enough of woes with my I-Phone 3G, after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1.
Any way of backtracking to a more stable state? I was fine till IOS 4.1. though the performance was slowing down. Now totally stuck since last 3 days.

Ok, let me tell you what I tried to do. Restore through Itunes didnt work, got a lot of errors mainly pointing to hardware issues. I once managed to get it jailbroken through a friend, and then asked him to reset it completely so I could restore it in Itunes again (I had no compulsive intention to remain jailbroken then, I wish I had not reset it and continued using it in jailbroken mode). So I have just one choice left now...jailbreak. I am just looking for a reply from Apple before I go ahead with jailbreak.Wonder how long my patience will last, 3 days and 4th starting.

  • Any info from Apple on how to downgrade back to IOS 3

Not happy with IOS 4, phone lags. Any info from Apple on how to downgrade back to IOS3.13?

I've just downgraded my old 3G to 3.1.3 before giving it to my girlfriend. While I was quite happy with iOS4, I did note that a few minor things were a little slower (mainly SMS), and she hammers this feature so I thought it best to hand over the device on 3.1.3.
Downgrading was incredibly easy, it's actually a fairly trivial task if you follow one of the many excellent guides. The entire thing only took about 1 hour, from first reading the article to the phone being at the "connect to itunes" screen on 3.1.3.
Just google "lifehacker iphone 3g downgrade", and you should get the same article I used.
The annoying thing is, she's now wanting to upgrade it to iOS4 herself because she wants folder. I shouldn't of even bothered downgrading it. lol.

  • How to downgrade back to ios 7.0.2

How to I go back to IOS 7.1. until IOS 8 is fix

There is no supported method of downgrading iOS versions.
You can try the standard troubleshooting steps:
    1. Reset,
    2. Resotre,
    3. If neither fix the issues, you can take it into an Apple store for Diagnosis.
To Reset, simply press and hold the home and power/sleep buttons until the Apple Logo shows up.   This will reboot the iPhone.  Usually this helps with issues relating to memory or uncleared installation files.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
This will refresh the iOS installation and usually helps fix any bugs and glitches that may have creeped up during the original installation.

  • HT4623 how to downgrade back to ios 6

I am using T-Moblie over the Iphone and since I moved to ISO 6.1. I am having problems sending images and sharing contacts.
Anyone can help on how I can get back to IOS 6?
    Thanks,

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

my phone was updated and  a google street view map was lost. How can i restore back from ios 6 to ios 5?

You cannot downgrade the iOS, there is no supported method.
Google streetview was not lost, Google Maps were removed from iOS6 and replaced with Apple Maps.

  • How To : Sync playlists from iOS device back to itunes - Windows

How To : How To : Sync playlists from iOS device back to itunes - Windows (May work on Mac too)
NOTE - THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE THE MUSIC FILES ON THE COMPUTER ALREADY
If your like me and format your computers only to discover that you've lost all those time consuming playlists that you spent hours on, well your in luck.
Without any Third-Pary programs it's possible to save those awesome playlists, and pull them back from the blink of oblivion.
Step 1 - Connect iDevice to your computer and then open iTunes.
Step 2 - Locate your iDevice on the left side bar on iTunes under the heading 'Devices', click the arrow on the left of the devices name and select a playlist.
Step 3 - Right-Click the selected playlist and choose 'Export playlist', Save it as a Text file.
Step 4 - In iTunes, up the top click 'File' then locate Library, move across to 'Import Playlist...', Select the playlist you just created and click open.
Step 5 - Your playlist will appear on the left side bar under the heading 'Playlists', Select the playlist and attempt to play one of the songs contained.
Step 6 - You would have been prompted that iTunes doesnt see the file, select 'Locate' and then go to the location of your music and locate the file.
(Sorry dont have an image for this one due to having all my music already found)
Step 7 - Doing this once will find all the music in the playlist given that it's in a similar location of the song you found.
Congrats you have successfully moved a playlist back from oblivion

    There's a different method.
    1. On iTunes -> Devices -> <your device> -> Summary -> Check Manually manage music and videos.
    2. On iTunes -> Devices -> <your device> -> Summary -> uncheck Manually manage music and videos.
    done.

  • How to make IOS 7 readable? Or how to go back to IOS 6?

I know there are tons of improvements in IOS 7, but the user interface isn't one of them. I can't read light blue against a lime green background, and I can't read white, spindly letters against a white background either. I've been tested: my color vision is normal.
I don't care for the artless flat icons, but I could put up with them if I could see them.
Is there a way to get some contrast into the UI? It looks like invisible ink right before it dries.
If there is no way to get contrast into IOS 7's UI, then I want to know how to go back to IOS 6. I really don't want to go back to IOS 6, but if I can't see the UI, I can't benefit from the features.

    Alesoreus Primus wrote:
if still unhappy restore from an iOS6 back up
That is not accurate. If you have iOS 7, and restore from an iOS 6 backup, it will restore your content but the OS will not be downgraded.

  • HT4623 How to downgrade iPhone from ios6 to ios5 without jailbreaking?

How to downgrade iPhone from ios6 to ios5 without jailbreaking?
It is uncomfortable to use Appstore and uninformative Apple maps.
I regret, that I updated my iOS5, can I get it back?

Sadly, Apple is amazingly good at keeping users from downgrading an iPhone. For some reason, a prior update (5.1.1) bricked my 3GS, and that's how I learned the hard way how firmly Apple had control of the upgrade/downgrad process. I find that annoying, as well as the fact that Apple "pushes" (figureatively and literally) updates on users, many of whom simply update immediately, without realizing there could be a downside. I've been amazed at how many non-techy iPhone using friends have complained to me about maps, and they wish they had never updated to iOS 6.
Anyway, I'm still using iOS 5 on my iPhone 4S, as I just feel too attached to my good old Google-based Map app (and the web version of Google Maps is really very different than the App version -- I tried it, thinking I would finally update my iPhone, but was really dissatisfied with the web version). I do know iOS 6 is superior in many ways, but for now, I am just that attached to my good old Map app.

I'm copletley unhapy with ISO 7 Im using iphone 4 GSM it's so slow now how to downgrade back ???

Thanks a lot for the link. I'll try out if that will help to speed up my phone.
However, there has to be a possibility to downgrade to ios6 - otherwise the guys from Apple wouldn't have advised me to do so.
Beside of all the problems I have withe the new ios it also looks childish designwise and lot of of things like handling was much better with ios 6.

how do I update from ios 10.8 to yosemite

Make a cloned backup of your current system should you want to go back or if the upgrade isn't successful.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

My iPod touch 4G will not work after I tried to Downgrade it from iOS 5 to iOS 6. The screen is black and it doesn't work.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
    Try:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
