How to downgrade firmware? (Zen Mic

Im a owner of a Zen Micro 6GB, V2.x... For some reason I have the same problem like all the other ME user and trying to downgrade my firmware. When ever I try to downgrade the following message stop me from downgrading "You player is not connected. Please connect your player"Could someone help me with this? Or tell me how come Window XP pro does not reconnize V2.x?
Please help.

Hold down the option key.. when you select the different firmware.. it will then offer all that are available..
The very latest TC will not allow you to downgrade beyond 7.6.0 for some reason.. although the first of the Gen4 were sold with 7.5.2 if it didn't come with that level firmware it might not be able to go back to it.
Have you totally isolated the TC from the network.. reset it.. does the disk still spin up and down.. if so return for warranty exchange.. it is faulty. Otherwise start plugging in computers.. or connecting by wireless. give it a new wireless name.. add devices one by one until you find which is causing constant disk access. You might need to then do a reinstall to rid that device of the issue that is affecting the TC.

  • Downgrading my Zen Mic

I want to downgrade my Zen Micro to v firmware. I want to do this because my computer won't recognize the player because it has v2 firmware. I can't get my computer to recognize it because it doesn't have a service pack installed. I tried getting a service pack but it gives me an error message when I try to install the service pack. So I want to try and downgrade to ..0 as you can use that without having to download a service pack.
Here's the problem. When I try to downgrade the firmware to ..0, the upgrade program tells me my Zen Micro is not connected. How do I get my computer to recognize my device so I can downgrade?

I guess I will try another computer like you suggested. Do you think I will need to bring the Creative software along to downgrade?
    Thanks.

  • How to downgrade firmware using Airport Utility 6.0?

Found descriptions for how to do it using older versions of the Airport Utility.
In the current version 6.0 of Airport Utility running in Lion, all the manual setup options appear to be gone. No option for downgrading firmware I can find either.
Having the dreaded "disk spins up every few seconds" issue with the TC 7.6.1 firmware. Want to try downgrading to 7.5.2 - am told that will fix the problem before the disk destroys itself.

  • Can't restore firmware (Zen Mic

I had explained the issue to an email correspondent, but I guess I'm over my year so I'm not eligible for email support anymore.. Figure'd I'd try my luck here before I make the $2.99 CDN call :P
    Here's what I wrote:
When I start my player, it displays "Firmware Problem" (I had erased the firmware), and goes into recovery mode. I've downloaded the firmware update I want (Creative Zen Micro Firmware ..0, I don't care much for PlaysForSure), but it fails to recognize the player.
I am not using a USB hub or anything, I'm using a true tried and tested USB connection coming directly from the motherboard. One thing I should note is that the firmware that was on the device before I erased it was version 2 (PlaysForSure). I had tried using the second version of the firmware (Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02), but the same thing happened. I am running Windows XP Professional SP2 (32-bit). I have Windows Media Player Version .0.572.545. Are there any software prerequisites besides the drivers? (I have Creative ZEN and Jukebox Driver 2.0.00 installed).
I have also installed and reinstalled the following:
    -Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38
    -Creative PlaysForSure Devices Plugin 5.00.36
-Creative ZEN and NOMAD Jukebox Plugin 5.00.22
-Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8)
When I try to install the "Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update" it will install the necessary software drivers, but still won't recognize the player. Windows sure recognizes it, and when it's plugged in the "Docked icon displays on the players screen... I can access the player through My Computer ..it only reads a 20mb "Storage Media" device within... I can even transfer a file to it, given it's an acceptable format for the player.
So I'm stumped here. One thing to note is that my girlfriend has the same player with version 2 firmware (PlaysForSure), and I can use the version 2 firmware update to restore the firmware on her device, yet the same firmware updater fails to recognize my device. I hope I haven't bricked my player
Any help/guidance is more than appreciated people!
On a more advanced note, is there any way I can manually copy the firmware from my girlfriends player (I am an advanced linux user)... I haven't tried playing around with anything like that, but if anyone has ever tried/knows where to look, that would be great.
    Thanks all
    Orion

My English is not well, But i know how to upgrade it like this situation. . Use Windows XP. (NOT VISTA)2. IF your XP install Windows Media player , remove 3 things,
    Windows Media Player (restar computer)<
Windows Media Format Runtime (restar computer)<
Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack .0.0(if you see [Wudf0000] windows, put YES )<
Then, you can upgrate you zen micro use the firmware ZenMicroP4S_PCFW_L6_2_2_02.exe
    Good Luck ^_^

  • How to downgrade firmware without Airport Utility?

Since updating my Express firmware to 7.5.x I have not been able to connect to the internet.
After factory resets I am not even able to connect to the Express through Airport Utility even though it see's the router.
After six hours of trying and reading various post on the latest firmware it appears that it must be this latest firmware that is the problem.
I want to go back to 7.4 or 7.3 firmware on my Express but how can I do this without using Airport Utility?

I want to go back to 7.4 or 7.3 firmware on my Express but how can I do this without using Airport Utility?
You can't. Try a factory default reset on the AX again as follows:
Power it off for 30 minutes
Hold in the reset button and while you continue to hold it in, plug the AX back in to power
Keep holding the reset button until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly and hold another 3-4 seconds when you see this and then release
Allow 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart until the amber light is blinking slowly. Then, temporarily connect an ethernet cable to the AX from your computer. Restart your computer and Open AirPort Utility - Manual Setup
Click directly on the word "Version" (3rd line) and you will be able to choose the firmware version you want.
There's no guarantee this will work, of course, if there is some other internal issue on the AX.

  • How long to format Zen Mic

    Hi,
I have just received my second Zen Micro (I had to send the other one back a few days ago because it developed a fault and stopped working properly). Now I have my new one but I went to turn it on earlier and it got stuck on the Creative logo and wouldn't go any further. I have tried formatting it but it seems to be taking ages. Any ideas how long this should take?
Creative must have some serious problems with the Micro with the amount of issues I keep hearing about!
    Thanks,
    James.

i hate that excuse. if a small percentage of electronics are faulty then you shouldnt very well expect a large percentage (00%) of the players you buy to be faulty.
You can't tally one figure against the other like this. It doesn't make any sense.
lots of people have had multiple problems with their micros.
Lots suggests a big number of people. Bringing this back to reality, I've seen a few, maybe 0-5. There are people posting here for which this may well be the case, but it may well be that some of these are here to cause trouble also. There's nothing to stop people posting here who don't own a player to spread the usual rumour and nonsense.

  • Can downgrade firmware from 3.18.15 to 3.18.14

    Hi
My NMH405 default at fw 3.18.14 and everything were going smoothly until I upgrade to 3.18.15 which caused unable to login with remote access. I always prompt remote site is down or device offline.
Anyone know how to downgrade firmware?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

But wouldn't the available on-line upgrade be 3.18.15 rather than 3.18.14?
Is there an archive where I can choose other upgrade versions?
Is there a way to download a firmware upgrade ?
Is the firmware included in the CD iso download?
My appologies if I am missing something but the one time I upgraded, I saw only one on-line choice: 2.18.15

  • Downgrading firmware on WRT54G/access restrictions

I had a WRT54G.  Access restrictions worked.  I upgraded the firmware and the access restrictions no longer worked.
So after researching, it appears the firmware I upgraded to was buggy and the access restrictions didn't work with the new firmware.  I couldn't figure out how to downgrade back to what I had.
Called Linksys and ultimately they said they would send a new router.  I asked if it would have the old firmware that my router had previously, where the access restrictions worked.  Yes, they said.
New router arrives today.  Firmware is v1.02.2, June 7, 2007.  NOT the prior firmware.  Sure enough, the access restrictions still do not work on this router either.  I don't want to spend yet another two weeks trying to resolve this with Linksys.
Question:  Is there a way to downgrade to firmware where the access restrictions actually work for WRT54G?  If so,
what version should I downgrade to?
where do I obtain it? and
can I download the firmware and then install it using the administration/upgrade firmware tab on the router (even though it is a downgrade)?
Thanks very much for any thoughts.

Thanks for the suggestion, Badboy.  Unfortunately, although I could download the firmware and successfully load it onto the router, the access restrictions in that version do not work either.
It doesn't seem as though all prior versions of firmware are on the ftp site, ftp.linksys.com.  For example, I also have a wrt54gs v. 4 (speedbooster) with the same access restriction problem.  It currently has a firmware version loaded that doesn't appear to be listed on that website.  (I couldn't download prior firmware for that version that worked.)  So, perhaps prior firmware exists for the wrt54g v. 6 that is not listed on that site also.
Does anyone know if there is another site that has a more extensive collection of prior linksys firmware?
If not, I suppose I can call linksys again, but even if they send yet another router promising the old firmware on it, I suspect the message is just going to get lost between the promise made on the phone and the guy in the warehouse filling the RMA order.

  • Help needed to downgrade firmware for E72

Unfortunately, I didn't read through this thread before installing firmware V 051.018 on my E72-2, and now I'm stuck with no vibration nor tone when a new SMS message is received:
    /t5/Software-Updates/Nokia-E72-firmware-v051-018-released/td-p/749976/highlight/false
Does anybody know anything about how to downgrade the firmware back to what it was?
I tried googling it but didn't find anything useful.
    Thanks!

With firmware upgrade you tend to lose settings.. so pl. check your profile customization / personalization menu to confirm whether the settings are as required.. or do you mean there are no options to set !!!!
The firmware downgrade is not possible at user end..(as mentioned by phonehacker..).. but may be (repeat.. MAY BE) possible at Nokia Care  if you realy need that..

  • Downgrading Firmware

hi, I'm new on this board. i was wondering about downgrading firmware for the BEFW11S4 V.2 model. an update is causing problems with an online gaming service. this has been going on for a year, but i only identified the problem a day ago... i have gotten access to the ftp site, but the firmware for my model is only european. i was wondering if this will work, and how to go about "installing" it on my router.  thank you in advance!

You could try to upgrade the router's firmware. Use for new firmware is to fix bugs that have been discovered with the router. Try to download here. That would link you to Linksys download page for new firmware of a version 2 BEFW11S4.
