    hi
i  would like to install Windows 7  instead Windows 8  in my g580.
there is some guide or how-to to can do it?
many thanks and sorry for my English

    Hi Rick,
I am in a similiar predicament where I had just bought Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 with Windows8 only (not Win8 Pro).
My current apps does not run on Win8.
As such, I need to take the path to downgrade to Windows 7 Pro.
What are my options to do this?
I'm thinking of taking the route of
(step1) Purchase the Upgrade Pack from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro
(step2) Then, downgrade my Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro.
    Will this work ?
I heard conflicting messages that  there is no downgrade rights to Win7 Pro, from an upgrade Win 8 Pro.
I am really confused now. Help!!!

  • How to downgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 8

I have a HP Pavilion 15-E016TX Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 1TB/ Win8/ 2GB Graph) that came with windows 8 single language.  It recently got upgraded to windows 8.1 without even giving me an option to cancel the upgrade. After the update the system has become a piece of crap. It restarts the desktop screen again and again. When I right click on desktop I can't access the graphics property option or configure switchable property option...It give an error that 'cli' is not found. Even my games are not working properly(its getting Hanged)..
Can you please help me how to downgrade back to windows 8 with detailed steps since I don't have an in depth knowledge about reset or refreshing of systems..
    Thank You

    1. Wil this erase all my data from all the drives...I had a single drive when I brought it at first, I manually partitioned it..
OK. You did not provide that information before. So my previous post was a waste of time. You will need to purchase recovery media from HP. If you had recovery media available and selected factory image recover, it would delete and recreate partitions on  the boot drive not the secondary hard disk.
Looking for recovery disks or usb recovery media?
    2. What about reset or refreshing the pc. Will it help?
No.  Reset or refresh will only refresh to the current Windows 8.1 operating system
    3. Is it going to be windows 8 single language again.
It won't work if there is no recovery partition, so you don't have to worry about that
    4. How can I stop the installation of windows 8.1 in future.
Modify the Windows update settings. See the following image

  • How to downgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 7 professional on Envy 700-329

I am fed up with the problems resulting from Windows 8.1, eg program incompatibility, Slow/no response in browsers, especially IE 11, forced to use touch-screen style interface on conventional monitor and so on and so on. I have a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit licence for my Dell Vostro laptop. Can I use it on my HP Envy 700-329 desktop to replace Windows 8.1?

    Good morning.
    You're very welcome.
Only Pro versions of Windows are eligible for downgrade rights to the older versions of windows.
And the downgrade has to be performed by the PC manufacturer.
In other words, your PC would have a W8.1 Pro license, but W7 Pro would be preinstalled on it at the time of manufacture.
So you cannot purchase a downgrade license per se.
You will have to purchase a full retail or full OEM version of Windows 7 64 bit.
The difference between retail and OEM is that the retail version can be transferred to another PC as many times as you want provided it is used on one PC at a time, and as you read, the OEM version cannot.
The retail version of Windows cost about double the OEM version of Windows from what I recall.

Windows 8.1 update is free, if you have Windows 8 installed on your system.
If you want run software which is compatible with Windows 7, follow the below mentioned steps to run the software on
    Windows 8 using compatible mode:

Go back to where you bought the laptop and ask them was there a downgrade for this laptop back to Windows 7 if their answer is No them most likely anyone on here won't be able to help. Also since that is new then I would conclude most likely you will not be able to go to Windows 7 as they won't have drivers for Windows 7. If this is the case return for Refund and this time ask them which of these laptops can still be downgraded to Windows 7 if they still have them where you are.

  • Preinstalled windows 7. Now how to downgrade from windows 8 back to win 7?

Purchased L755-S5244 with win 7 home premium installed. Later, opted to upgrade to win 8 pro when offered online. HATE it! My laptop does not have a touch screen and win 8 seems tailored to touch screens. Need to downgrade to win 7. Unfortunately, a previous reformat and "refresh" of win 8 to try to fix performance issues deleted the "old windows" file, so I know I can't do it that way. I know I don;t have official downgrade rights, but there has to be a way to do it. I'd like to reformat, then use win 7 recovery discs to reinstall, but I understand there might be a problem with the BIOS.. please advise if what I propose is possible and how to deal with the BIOS problem. Thanks.

There is no BIOS problem, Bob. And you need not reformat separately. Simply restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
If you failed to burn recovery discs, you can obtain them from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here .
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 76 of the User's Guide.

  • How to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 7 new s2030

    HI
I just bought a new Lenovo S20-30 becasue I read a review somewhere that it comes with pre-installed Windows 7 drivers.
Does anyone know how I set the ball rolling to install Windows 7 please? Will I need to get discs or can I download it all?
    Thanks

Go to the control panel and then to System. Once that is up take a look right next to the big blue Windows 8 it should say either Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro.
If it does not say pro then you do not have downgrade rights. That is Microsoft rules.

  • How to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 7

I recently purchased a T430 with Windows 8 loaded. After I played with Windows 8 for a few days, I regretted that I had not ordered the Win7 version. I have a Windows 7 Proression edition CD, so without too much research, I thought I could just easily install the Windows 7 over Windows 8 and be done. What a fool I was! And let me share my failure experience so no same mistake would be made by others who wanted to do the same:
First, I tried to put in a Windows 7 CD and run installation from the CD; sure, it failed quickly.
So, I went into the BIOS and changed the Startup setting "UEFI boot" only to "Legacy boot" so it will force the machine to boot from my Windows 7 CD. That little bit of advanced setting was taking me to death row a bit faster, as matter of fact. Read on...
Restarted the machine and now I was able to launch the Windows 7 installation screen. I was too excited and moved along to the point it asked if I wanted to delete the partition. In the past, when I reinstalled OS, I always said yes to delete the old partition and created a new partition. But man, I was so ignorant of new technology! Windows 8 is no longer NTFS. It is on GPT (Guid Partition Table) format now. But somehow, it did allow me to delete the main partition where Windows 8 was installed. No error message or warning message that seemed critical popup, the partition just went into a limbo.
All hell broke loose from then on. Windows 7 could not install on GPT partition and I could not go back to Windows 8 now that its home base (GPT partition ) was damaged by Windows 7.
After some Google search and serious read, I found postings suggesting downloading a GPARTED iso image, burned that to CD and run it from CD drive to re-partition the damaged GPT on my machine. I did all that, had the CD created, put it in the drive and waited for the magic....but No way, it did not work - it simply sit there and NOT bootable. I could go into to command line and tried to run every possible .exe or .bat file in the disk, but no thing worked.
So the miser goes on. I had tried to call Lenovo tech support at 1-800-426-7378 and guess what I ended up? - a series of busy dial-tones...
Community forum, my last resort! Hereos please come forward and help!!! Just don't tell me to download the GPARTED, burn it to CD or USB and boot from there....
    Solved!

Bill, I really appreciated that you pointed me to the DiskPart utility that is part of DOS. With that, I have successfully overcome the biggest hurdle - re-partition my disk to NTFS format. Here I recorded the steps I went through:
Powered up T430 and let the Diagnostic tool run "Preparing Automatic Repair"
On screen showing "Diagnose your PC" then "Attempt to repair your PC"
Automatic Repair failed, then two options button showed "Shutdown" and "Advanced options"; selected the "Advanced options" button
    Selected "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced Options"
Clicked on "Command Prompt" on Advanced Options screen
Now we are in command prompt: c:\>; typed "diskpart /?" to list a possible commands
Followed the instruction on http://www.computerhope.com/diskpart.htm to get the proper command switch
At C:\> typed "diskpart" to enter DISKPART command mode; then type ? to list all the switches, such as GPT, Help, etc
    Diskpart>format fs=NTFS Label="86DB-AC90"
    Did not format; message returned
    There is no volume selected.
Please select a volume and try again
As matter of fact, the problem was that I had not selected a disk; after reading this post at http://www.jwgoerlich.us/blogengine/post/2009/11/05/Use- Diskpart-to-Create-and-Format-Partitions.aspx, I did a "list disk" command at DISKPART>, and that got me a list of disk online.
Then I did a select disk command: DISKPART>select Disk 0; it returned message "Disk 0 is now the selected disk"
I ran "clean" command again; this time, message returned, "DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk"
Diskpart>format fs=NTFS quick; still got the "There is no volume selected"
    Tried DISKPART>convert mbr
DiskPart successfully converted the selected disk to MBR format
    DISKPART>create partition primary
output: DiskPart succeeded in creating the specific partition
    DISKPART>select part 1
output: Partition 1 is now the selected partition
    DISKPART>format fs=NTFS label=YangT430 quick
Put in Windows 7 32-bit CD and installation now just sailed through.

  • How to downgrade from Windows Vista to Xp on a Satellite P200?

    Hi!
i would like to know if it's possible to install Windows XP on a computer which originally comes with Vista? Someone told me some drivers needed to be installed first, but i cant find the right information.
    Thanks
    Corinne

Well, you are right. You will need to install the Intel Matrix Storage manager firstly before you will continue the XP installation.
During the XP installation the setup will ask you for pressing the F6 button to include 3rd drivers.
Either you will use this option to install the Intel Matrix Storage manager from external USB FDD or you will create again the XP CD using the nLite software.
However, all drivers are released on the Toshiba European driver page. So choose the right notebook series and check the compatible drivers!

  • HP m6-1225dx downgrade from Windows 8 to 7

    Hi everyone,
I just purchased a ENVY m6-1225dx that came with Win8 and I'm trying to downgrade to Win7 but not having any success. I formatted the HDD and doing a clean install. The setup completes almost all the steps successfully but then gives me an error at the end saying "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation". This message is different than one I was getting previously that said something along the lines of Windows could not be installed on this hardware. I called HP and the technician and manager were both no help at all. They didn't even want to answer a single question and straight away told me that I should contact Microsoft because it's not HP's problem. Can anyone please help me resolve this? It will be greatly appreciated!

Instead of downgrading advanced technology, try ( proposing ) upgrading your ( school ) outdated code.
Or for a faster fix, set compatibility view settings on the browser.
