How to downgrade iTunes 12 to 11.4?

I recently upgraded iTunes to 12.0.1 and want to downgrade back to 11.4. I run the 11.4 installer and it says "A newer version of iTunes is already installed." So I use the terminal to delete it (sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/) and also trash the preferences as well as Library/Caches/com.apple.iTunes. Now I'm able to run the 11.4 installer, but when I launch iTunes, I get an error: "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please reinstall iTunes (-42401)." Any ideas on how I can successfully downgrade iTunes to 11.4?
It needs to be 11.4 since I share my iTunes library between two macs via file sharing, and one of them is an older mac which is unable to upgrade to version 12.

1) Open Terminal and run:
sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app
This will delete the iTunes 12 application.
2) If your Music Library is in its default place, also in the terminal:
open ~/Music/iTunes
3) Using Time Machine restore the following files:
Album Artwork <– Folder
iTunes Library
iTunes Library Extras.itdb
iTunes Library Genius.itdb
iTunes Library.xml
iTunes Library.itl
iTunes Music Library.xml
Previous iTunes Libraries <– Folder
No need to replace your iTunes Music Folder. You may not need to replace all these files but it can’t hurt.
4) Back in the terminal:
open /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
Use Time Machine again to restore the following files:
AirTrafficHost.framework
CoreADI.framework
CoreFP.framework
DeviceLink.framework
iTunesAccess.framework
MobileDevice.framework
5) Using Time Machine restore iTunes 11.4

I am totally frustrated with itunes at this point. I loved having my artwork in the sidebar in song view mode (including the little arrows to see multiple artworks).
Every version since then seems to downgrade this feature. I would like to go back to when that worked the way that I liked it. I believe the last version to have this (With the little arrows) was 10.4.1? Can anyone confirm that?

I HATE itunes 12! Among other reasons, it changed the name I gave my iphone 6+ to just "iphone," which renders my phone undiscoverable by any of my blue tooth devices until I set them all up again using the new name...and I can't find a way to change the name of the phone back to what it was....I can't even get to the phone "pages" in itunes! And that's just the "first verse" in my litany of complaints. I won't bore you with the rest, but I really NEED to get rid of this thing...and I will NEVER upgrade again without first finding out whether people like it or not!
So how do I get rid of 12 and reinstall 11.4 in Windows 7 64 bit without also restoring the phone to factory settings??? I'll even do that if it's the only way, but I'd rather not. The version in my downloads file is 11.3.1.2...if I uninstall 12 and install it, itunes will want to "upgrade" it, but will go directly to 12. So where do I find a downloadable 11.4?

If you really want to roll back to 11.4 uninstall all iTunes/Apple components, restore the pre-upgrade version of the library as described in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash, then download and install from one of these direct links:

How do I downgrade itunes 10.4 to 10.3

I just managed to downgrade from ITunes 10.5 to 10.4 w/o using Time Machine. Typically I have Time Machine backups, but I just downgraded from OS X Lion too, and was still trying to get my MacBook fine tuned again before doing a fresh backup again.
So it was a long shot, but here's what I tried and it worked perfect. It also might appear to be difficult, but as long as you can cut/paste and know a little about file folders, this won't take more than 5 minutes.
1. I removed the entire itunes folder from the "Music" folder and copied it to the desktop.
(Macintosh HD/users/<yourname>/Music/iTunes)
2. I downloaded iTunes 10.4 and did a fresh install. I restarted the application, which recreated the iTunes folder (and files) back in the "Music" folder. Then quit the application completely.
3. I went to the original iTunes folder that I copied to the desktop, and deleted the most recent file from the iTunes library. For the purpose of this illustration...I had several, but my latest was "iTunes Library 2011-08-16.itl".
(Desktop/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries/iTunes Library 2011-08-16.itl)
4. Now cut/paste the "original" file from desktop back into the iTunes folder you've just recreated. When it prompts you to overwrite the existing files, reply "YES" to all, and let the folder finish.
5. Your Done! Now open iTunes again...all your files and playlists, will be there.
The reason I downgraded, was the new iTunes 10.5, wouldn't collapse on my MacBook so I could see all playlists and detailed song info. It basically opened up "full screen", but only allowed me to scroll through song files, but not playlists, etc.
I hope this helps somebody...I was really struggling because of the size of my music library (24,000+), and really didn't want to begin with a fresh install, and recreating my playlists from scratch.

I use my iPad with music production software and still it was on 7.1.2 I got no problems, but now I'm in trouble using AudioBus for memory problems when I record to a DAW. Synth softwares are laggy, many crack here and there, like it has no more power to reproduce all the voices I need.

How to configure iTunes 11.1 to only download ios6 updates for apps?

Since I will always be running ios6 on my iPhone4 and not ios7, I need to know how to configure iTunes 11.1 to download ios6 updates for my apps in iTunes and remove the ios7 updates that have been downloaded to my mac. How do I do this?

It's quite a pity that Apple defines what ios "is compatible with my hardware" , since the so called "upgrade" to ios7 on hardware that isn't ready for it, is really a downgrade. It's like putting racing wheels of a Formula 1 car on a common car, it's not a good fit. From what I've read and seen on Apple community websites, ios7 will slow your iPhone4, drain your battery life, make apps startup slower.
And you do pinpoint the problem with Apple nowadays, I choose not to upgrade. I think different. And that's not supported by Apple.
It's either their marketing strategy to force people to upgrade and brick their phones in order to buy new ones or a great lack of relationship management with the customers. Since the issue of so called "ios upgrades" that result in slower performance for older phones seems to be a continious trend for Apple at the moment.

If you have the previous version still on your computer, try this.
Remove the latest update from the iTunes/iPod updates folder.
On a Mac this is found in (name of)user/library/iTunes/iPod software updates.
Then prevent iTunes from checking the internet for a new update (preferences/general and remove the check mark from "check for updates automatically), then click restore. Or simply disconnect your modem from the computer.
You should then be asked if you want to use the previous version of the iPod software.

I've just downgraded my old 3G to 3.1.3 before giving it to my girlfriend. While I was quite happy with iOS4, I did note that a few minor things were a little slower (mainly SMS), and she hammers this feature so I thought it best to hand over the device on 3.1.3.
Downgrading was incredibly easy, it's actually a fairly trivial task if you follow one of the many excellent guides. The entire thing only took about 1 hour, from first reading the article to the phone being at the "connect to itunes" screen on 3.1.3.
Just google "lifehacker iphone 3g downgrade", and you should get the same article I used.
The annoying thing is, she's now wanting to upgrade it to iOS4 herself because she wants folder. I shouldn't of even bothered downgrading it. lol.

Issues With Library.itl After Downgrading iTunes 12 to 11.4

Unfortunately, iTunes 12 has become completely useless.
So I just downgraded iTunes from the most recent version back to 11.4 using AppZapper and Pacifist. Everything worked like a charm and took only 10 minutes.
The one thing I was already predicting, though, is that, upon opening, iTunes 11 won't accept my iTunes Library.itl as it was created by a newer version.
The thing is, I haven't made a backup via Time Machine, or any backup for that matter. Is there any other way to link my recent Library.itl to iTunes 11?
The way I see it, the only thing I'd be able to keep is the actual media -- everything else would be gone, including all structures, settings, and stats. And -- much worse -- my playlists . . .
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Also, my most recent library would be iTunes Library 2014-10-17. How do I know if that'll work. As far as I'm informed, iTunes 12 was released on October 16, 2014. Does that mean it could already be a iTunes 12 backup, or does it mean it's the latest iTunes 11 backup available before updating to 12?
EDIT: Sorry, now I understand what you meant by "Whenever you update to a new version of iTunes,, iTunes copies the current iTunes library.itl into the Previous iTunes Libraries folder inside the iTunes folder and adds the date to that file."
The only question that remains: What happens to the files that have been modified between 2014-10-17 and today? What will go missing, and what will stay? Again, it's not the stats I'm worried about.

How to DOWNGRADE 3G to 3.1.3

Anyone know how to downgrade? The Commander-in-Chief is already cursing how slow her phone is and doesn't think the new features outweigh the treacle. I've seen a couple of articles but with no joy.

I found this link for downgrading to 3.1.3 in Windows elsewhere on this forum. Maybe it will help? I'm going to attempt it this weekend as I'm not pleased with iOS4. Only thing is I'm afraid iTunes will balk when I connect the iPhone to it after the downgrade, as it has already done a Sync and Backup in OS4. Worst case I can copy everything over to my other computer and use the iTunes on it to restore all my music and apps to the iPhone. Basically reset it to factory specs and put it all back together.

I have to say I'm pretty surprised at this. I'm a Windows guy and expect this kind of thing from Microsoft. That's why I still use XP. It works! I didn't think Apple did these kinds of shoddy upgrades! So I trusted the 4.0 upgrade! Who knew?
