How to Downgrade Satellite A100-411 to WXP?

Hi,
I just bought this sweet Notebook which has Windows Vista installed.
Unfortunately I have to install Windows XP, but in the download section there are no drivers available yet for this specific model series called PSAARE.
Are there any drivers of the other series applicable?

Hi Gerhard
Im surprised that you want to downgrade the OS to the XP because most people here in the forum ask for the Vista upgrade and Vista drivers!
However, I think most devices and parts are the same in A100 series notebooks and in my opinion you should try to use drivers from another A100 series
Before driver installation compare the notebooks devices and if another notebook uses the same device then you could use also the driver
Good luck

  • Cannot install Windows XP Pro on Satellite A100-411

    Hi,
I´ve got a question. I own a Toshiba Satellite A100-411 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Because of the performance which would me much better with Windows XP I tried to install Windows Xp on a second partition but on the same harddisk.
The Problem is that it didnt work, I put the Windows XP cd in my DVD Drive, did a reboot and started from cd.
Than the first installation window of Windows Xp opened and checked my system, but when it was done and
wantet to start the main installation i got a bluescreen, where was standing that she System was shut down because of an error and that i should change my videocard or that i should turn of caching and shadowing in my Bios.
But my Videocard realy works and is ok and i can't find caching and shadowing in the bios, so i cant install windows xp.
So my question is wether there is a possibility to install Windows XP on the A100-411 when Vista is installed on the other Partition.
Did I do something wrong or isnt it possible to install Windows Xp after Windows Vista on a A100-411
Sorry for my bad english and greetings from germany

Hey guys, this topic can be closed, ive fixed the problem on my own but thanks for your advice Jack Black.
I had 2 partitions before u told me to create them, that was not my problem, the problem was, that my windows xp cd was one of the older ones, so i created a new xp cd including service pack 2 and the installation went fine.
But than there was an other problem, the only OS which started was Win Xp because of the damaged bootloader of windows vista.
A friend told me that this problem can be fixed with VistaBootPro and that was a good advice of him.
Now everything is fine and i hope that my games wont crash anymore and i also hope that there will be not so much bluescreens as under windows vista.
Have a nice weekend to everyone *g*

  • How to recover Satellite A100 without recovery disk

    Hi All,
I am trying to restore my A100 laptop to factory settings *without* a recovery CD via pressing a sequence of keys while booting (which should fire up the recovery partition located on the hard drive).
The truly sad thing is, I know this can be done as I have done it before butI can't for the life of me remember what that key sequence was nor can I find the article that I initially stumbled on!
I have scoured the web looking for this key sequence and all suggested solutions I came across don't seem to work.
    Failed attempts so far:
    - holding down 0 when powering up
    - various suggested "F" keys: F1, F8, F10
    - holding down delete
Note: I guess it may be worth mentioning that pressing F8 does in fact take me to the "advanced windows boot options" screen however I don't have any recovery options.
So yeh, I would *hugely* appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction here as it's driving me insane... the fact that I have done this before makes it that much worse!

As far as I know the A100 series has not been equipped with the HDD recovery partition!
And therefore I doubt that any key combination will start the recovery from partition!
Therefore you only chance to recover the notebook is taking the recovery disk and then to boot from it.
You can also try to install the OS from Microsoft Windows disk and then could install the Toshiba drivers from the Toshiba driver website!

  • How to record the sound from a website on Satellite A100-307

    I have a Satellite A100-307.
Audio record properties show only CD, Micro and Line as possible inputs
I want to record sounds (music) which I hear when I visit sites on the Internet
On other PC's, I select the Wave or Wave/MP3 input and it works
I Cannot find this option on my PC
Please help by indicating how to solve this problem
    Thanks in advance
    gbonamy

    Hi
What sound card was installed on other notebooks??
I have got 2 notebooks at home. One Satellite and one from other manufacture but I do not found such option like you have described.
There is no recording from the wave or mp3. The sound card does not support such function.
I think its not possible to record from other audio source. I think you can only use the external micro jack as a recording source because the line-in jack is not available on this unit.

  • Ethernet driver for WXP is not working on Satellite A100

Satellite A100-784 PSAANE-02L011G3 ethernet driver for wxp is not working. Can not properly install driver, downloaded all possible drivers and still not working.
In device manager yellow sign. I have bought my laptop with Vista BASIC and I put XP-SP2. Country is Croatia! Help me please!

    Hi
I cannot believe that you are not able to install the LAN driver on this A100 Satellite!
However, the Sat A100-784 supports an Intel 82562GZ 10/100 Mbit (Ekron) Lan chip.
If you want you can download and install the Lan driver from the Intel page:
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=999&lang=eng
There you will find the drivers for the Intel 8256x Ethernet Controllers

  • How to create a complete new image for Satellite A100 PSAA9E ?

My Satellite A100 PSAA9E is so incredible slow that I think the only option is to uninstall everything. Mean how can I restore my laptop to its original condition inlc. latest driver units.
    best regards,
    stef

    Hi,
Before making a new installation you can clean your system using software like TuneUp utilities. it's shareware but you can use it free for a month. It cleans the registry, removes duplicated files, and...
If you want to restore to it's original condition, use recovery disks or Hdd recovery image (Pressing F8 on startup). If you didn't burn and hdd recovery image gone, you can order from Toshiba for money or get windows copy for installation (all the drivers you can find on Toshiba driver page)

  • How to deactivate built-in microphone on Satellite A100?

    Hi!
First of all I have a little bit silly question: Does my Satellite A100-547 has a built-in Microphone? If it has one - how can I deactivate it and use the external microphone of my headset?
If I want to talk to others in Teamspeak, the others can hear something even if the microphone of the headset isn't plugged in.
So I guess, there must be an built-in Micro ;-P

External microphone you can use if you connect it to MIC jack. TeamSpeak is not known to me but I presume in settings you can check functionality of connected sound devices. Test it!

  • After WXP load my Satellite A100-011 is pretty hot

I have noticed that my Satellite A100-011 is really hot but, I believe, not because of hardware. It starts with software. When I load recovery CD, it will be cold as it should be but when WXP loads and after drivers download from Toshiba support site, my problems starts again.
What do you think about that?

    Hi
    > while Im playing games , notebook's temperature rises to 75 centigrade degree and then it closes
I assume you mean suddenly shutdown.
    Well, this is definitely overheating. But the question is why the notebook overheats;
As mentioned above the notebook could overheat because you use non-Toshiba drivers or because the cooling modules dont cool properly.
The non-Toshiba GPU drivers can be used only at your own risk.
You should also check if the cooling module cleaning could helps to avoid the overheating issues.
Sometimes the dust and debris inside the notebook prevent the cooling modules from properly working.
In such case I would recommend buying a special compressed air spray to clean the cooling ventilators.
You can purchase such sprays from every computer/notebook dealer.
    Good luck

  • How to connect my Satellite A100 to TV?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-285 and I really want to connect it to the TV.
Can anyone tell me what cable I would need to do that?
We have no pc world or any shops like that up here.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello
It is very simply to do this. All you need is S-Video cable. S-Video port is placed on the left side near the I.Link. Please note that this cable can transfer the video signal only.

  • Need WXP drivers for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

So I came here to get the drivers but I've no idea which driver goes with which hardware in my Device Manager.

    Ethernet Controller
    Mass Storage Controller

    SM Bus Controller
Can anyone advise which specific driver I need for each?
    Many thanks,

  • How to connect external speakers to Satellite A100-451

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A100-451 (UK) running Vista. I want to connect external speakers. There is a 'headphones' jack on the front (3.5mm jack I think), can I connect external speakers here? The speakers are 'PC Line' with their own power supply and also have a 3.5mm jack plug).
    Thanks
    KK

You need the audio Line-out put and the headphone jack provides this output.
In other words you can use this jack to connect the external speakers

  • How to get and replace a key on Satellite A100-522?

    Hey Toshiba.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-522 Model no. PSAA2E-01C01EED and one of my shift keys
has broken down under, so i cant use it (The small plastic bar to balance the key is broken
so the key "hangs". I can send it to repair under the guarentee, and ive talked to the
seller, but i dont have the time to send it for repairs (no replacement laptop meanwhile).
Is it possible to get a new key, and replace it myself? I know some other notebook producers do the same thing,
instead of using lots of time on the repairs, if they are this simple.
    Regards

    Hi
Well, its very easy to replace the keycaps.
    Please check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20727&messageID=76283
But if the whole key has broken you will need to replace the whole keyboard.
To remove the keyboard you have to remove the think plastic cover above the F keys.
Under this cover you will find 2 crews securing the keyboard
Remove the two screws and detach the flat keyboard cable which is connected to the motherboard.

my problem is the bios , i re-install windows every few months to keep the laptop fresh and fast and i download all new updates and drivers from Toshiba drivers page
well i did 2 updates to bios from 2.00 to 2.20 and then to 2.40
but since first update it seems to be messing my laptop
    DVDWR stopped burning DVDs
Echo mode on battery don't setup says bios unsupported
Graphics card fails so much in games now in FPS and very slow rendering in the games !!
    it's Radeon 5650 !
not the best card right now but it's very good 1 still ( Playing Aion btw ) .
i want to flash the Bios i wanna reset it to factury default or the bios comes with the laptop and i won't ever update it again ! it mess the laptop not improve it !
i read tutorials how to downgrade bios but i'd rather ask here for more pro help
thank you and i hope i get what i'm looking for i wanna reset this laptop and just download latest drivers

    > i re-install windows every few months to keep the laptop fresh and fast
Many people think the same but especially fast has mostly nothing to do with BIOS update. If everything works well why to change anything and risk something.
My notebook is 3 years old and I use it still with original BIOS. No problems at al. Anyway, I think you should contact nearest Toshiba service provider and explain the situation. Be clear and tell them that you are not happy now and you want to have old BIOS version again. They have access to BIS database and can obtain older version for you.
ASPs phone number or address you can find on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/
