How to downgrade version?

I have battery problem with ipod 30GB 5th gen. I was thinking maybe because the last version that I had upgraded. And I just upgrade to the latest 1.3 version and still no change the battery problem. I want to downgrade my ipod version to the one before the last version (I forgot the version). Does anyone know how to downgrade the version?

If you have the previous version still on your computer, try this.
Remove the latest update from the iTunes/iPod updates folder.
On a Mac this is found in (name of)user/library/iTunes/iPod software updates.
Then prevent iTunes from checking the internet for a new update (preferences/general and remove the check mark from "check for updates automatically), then click restore. Or simply disconnect your modem from the computer.
You should then be asked if you want to use the previous version of the iPod software.

I'd first give our 11.7 beta a try to see if that improves things for you. If it does not, the next step I'd try is to uninstall 11.6/7 and install the 10.3 release.

How to: Downgrade from OS 9.2.1 to OS 9.1 or Earlier

Been looking everywhere for an answer...
I have a PowerBook 2400c, won't boot into anything over OS 9.1. I have installed onto a hard drive OS 9.2.1 and now I have just learned it is not compatible with pre-G3 machines. I get an error message when trying to boot into OS 9.2.1 on the 2400c that the system is not supported, and it is overlayed the OS 9.2 Boot Window.
Since I only have a full, retail OS 9.2.1 install CD, and nothing earlier, I am looking for a way to downgrade it to OS 9.1. I tried to just install the 9.1 update overtop the 9.2.1 system, but it will only install it overtop OS 9.0-9.0.4.
By the way, and this is just for information, OS 9.2.1 is installed on a CF card. I boot my older machines with Systems installed on CF Cards: they are inserted into the PowerBooks via a PCMCIA/CF Card adapter. They all work great, and this is in no way a cause of the problem.
So does anyone know how to downgrade OS 9.2.1 - OS 9.1 when one only has (1) Full OS 9.2.1 retail install CD (2) OS 9.1 Update Installer???

Move the card onto a system where it is usable, and then run the patched version of the 9.2.2 update on it. The Mac OS 9.1 updater can't downgrade a 9.2 or newer system; that capability requires a Mac OS 9.0 or 9.1 CD.

I think the best iOS version for iPad mini 1st gen was 7.1.2.
I use my iPad with music production software and still it was on 7.1.2 I got no problems, but now I'm in trouble using AudioBus for memory problems when I record to a DAW. Synth softwares are laggy, many crack here and there, like it has no more power to reproduce all the voices I need.
Really the only way is the jailbreak? 8.1.1 is not optimized for older devices: the update had to be not released through iTunes.

How to Stop Versions and Return Save-As

Death to Versions, Long Live Save-As!
I got rid of Versions and got back Save-As for Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Preview. It also works for TextEdit.
I have done a clean install of Lion from a bootable Flash drive, reinstalled iWorks 09, refused to let iWorks do a software update, and now I have Pages and Numbers without Versions and with Save-As. Once you update iWorks it uses Versions so don't let that happen. Also you can't go back to the original iWorks programs once you update them. It says they do not work on your system when you reinstall them. You have to reinstall Lion fresh then install iWorks. I use manual updates and I remove iWorks 09 update. It is annoying but it works. No full screen support which I never used anyway as I have multiple screens.
I have also deleted the Preview program and installed the Preview from Snow Leopard. Now that is also without Version and Save-As. I don't use TextEdit but I read you can also take that from Snow Leopard and it works. The details of how to do this are on these websites:

I have made a summary:
1. From Snow Leopard, make a copy of these:
FILE: /Applications/Preview.app
FILE: /Applications/TextEdit.app
FOLDER: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MeshKit.framework/
2. Rename the Snow Leopard Preview.app to “Previews.app” and the old TextEdit.app to TextEdits.app (Adding an S at the end)
3. Copy Previews.app and TextEdits.app to the Applications folder.
4. Copy “MeshKit.framework” to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
5. Download AppZapper from appzapper.com. You can use the free version 5 times, you only need to use it twice.
6. Empty your trash. This helps for the final step.
7. Drag the existing Lion Preview program to AppZapper.
8. It will tell you that it cannot delete a system App unless you change the settings. Do that.
9. Drag the existing Lion Preview program to AppZapper which deletes it.
10. See if it automatically uses this Leopard Previews to open images. If not then set this as the default program for each image type.
11. Go to the trash and collect the files for the Lion Preview program and store them in a folder in case you need them again.
12. Drag the existing Lion TextEdit program to AppZapper which deletes it.
13. Set this Leopard TextEdit as the default program for each document type you want it to use.
Now for what I do which uses Pages, Numbers and Preview, I never see Versions (thank God) and Save-As is my little friend again. 3 days to sort this out.
If Mountain Lion has not fixed this I will consider going to Windows 8. This is madness.

Apple don't force me to use Apple. I happen to have hardware and files and emails that are all linked to Apple and iWorks. I could use Microsoft if I want to. I'd prefer to use what I am already invested in the way I want it. I don't want to invest more money to make a system that worked for me continue to do so. I found a solution and I shared it.
Apple do force me to use Versions if I run the latest update of iWorks on Lion and they do force me to not use Save-As. I have made it clear that this response is for those people who WANT to use iWorks on Lion without Versions and with Save-As. I have seen a forum with over 66,000 views of people looking for this solution. If I could have posted it there I would have. The forum was closed. Those 66,000 people are not you. You don't want this. I get that. Don't be here. Leave this discussion for those that want the particular setup I also want. Free choice. That is what this is about.
There are also forums with people complaining about Preview and TextEdit. They WANT to use these programs with Save-As and without Versions. I don't use TextEdit. I do use Preview and I WANT to use it with Save-As and without Versions. I found a solution that works for me. Therefore I offer a solution for those that want to use it the way I do. I can use other programs. I can view images in a browser. I can use Photoshop to edit images. I can ALSO choose to use Preview the way it was before. I have that choice and Apple have tried to stop that by making Versions compulsory.
If you have a better way to make Snow Leopard Preview the default program for images please tell us all here now. I would like to know as well. I don't mean having to right click and choose Open With. I mean the automatic default program. If Apple allowed me to change my preferences to use Snow Leopard Preview I would have done that. Unfortunately they force my preferences back to Lion Preview against my choice and I had to Zapp it away.

LightRoom 1.4 : broken JPG display -- how to downgrade?

I (unfortunately) upgraded to LightRoom 1.4 from 1.3.
When I look at JPG images, they often appear broken: in the upper left-hand corner, I see a smaller copy of the image itself embedded in the main image.
The most annoying thing is that even though I have the 1.3 dmg (on a mac), it refuses to install if I erase the 1.4 version, and I try to install the 1.3 dmg.
Anyone knows at least how to downgrade to 1.3, while we wait for the bugs to be fixed?

The problem is intermittent: I loaded a whole folder of photos, and some of them were thus corrupted. As I was browsing, some previously uncorrupted photos became corrupted.
Once I switched back to LightRoom 1.3.1, all photos are fine -- this means that the files on disk are unaffected; it is their on-screen rendering which is affected.
The files were produced with my Olympus E-3. Btw, the toilet shot is not meant to be ... interpreted: it is just a photo I took to document some plumbing work, and I am sure the JPG was corrupted.

How to downgrade from Adobe 1.4 to 1.3.1 on a Mac?

I upgraded to Adobe 1.4 on my Mac, running Tiger.
For various reasons, Adobe 1.4 is broken (see other threads).
How can I downgrade to 1.3.1? I have the DMG, but when I try to downgrade, Adobe Lightroom says "there is nothing to install".
And in the main menus, I do not see an option to uninstall.
I tried to rename the Lightroom.app folder, but no luck.
Can someone from Adobe at least post detailed instructions on how to downgrade, while we wait for the bugs to be fixed??
This is hardly what I expect from a professional-grade product.

I can see that for many this is undesirable, and since it's an unintended behavior and a change from all previous versions, labeled a 'bug'.
Since I view editing a RAW file a modification, changing its modified date in the Finder is a plus, not a negative, and in my book, not a bug.
I must be missing something, but what as to this facet? Being on a Mac, and finding this not a problem, is there anything else seriously off with 1.4? (I am aware of the official recommendation, but I plan to stay with 1.4 as I keep in RAW till I am done editing, and then convert to DNG. I just won't convert to DNG with 1.4.)

First, you will have to completely uninstall 11g, see steps below:

This should be followed by installing 10g, and then applying 10g patches to reach 10.1.3.4.1 version. I hope you have all the right 10g installation files available. Im not sure if you can download them from Oracle anymore, please check before proceeding.

Take a backup of database on 5.0.56.0. In case you need to go back, uninstall the new version, then perform a clean install of 5.0.56.0 and restore the backup.
