  • Automatically download Album Art

    Hi,
Is it possible to get iTunes to automatically download album art when a song is loaded and played?
I have my cd collection ripped but the album art doesn't come up for them.

You can set iTunes to download artwork from the iTunes Music Store. Go to iTunes>Preferences>General and enable "Automatically download missing album artwork". If the iTunes Store doesn't have the album you want the artwork for you can locate and add some yourself:

If you have a look on the Apple downloads page you can find programs for the Mac that help locate and add album artwork. This is one I came across with a quick search of the site: Album Cover Finder 6.0
I have found this site is a useful resource for finding artwork to manually download: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio

  • TS1815 download album art not available thru itunes

How do you download album art not available in iTunes store.
I could copy and paste in the older version but not since the latest update
    I'm using windows
    Thanks Mark pianoman

I, too, relied on the name of the iTunes library being displayed on the top header bar of the iTunes window. I have 2 iTunes libraries that I go back and forth on all the time, and now I really have to look at the contents to figure out which library I'm in at any given moment.  What a pain!!  And what a stupid move to diminish functionality, Apple.  You folks have been doing this more all the time lately -- taking away perfected functionality -- and either deleting it or changing it just for the sake of a new look.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!  Please!
A good example of that is the dim grey text in all too much Apple everything these days.  Black is beautiful, please!  And especially useful in reading!!  And, apparently, enough people thought so, too, since I see black text is back in iTunes 11.  It went grey, and you heard from enough people that that was something no one should have changed.  Well, as the Gipper said: Here you go again!  Bring back the Library Name.  You've got plenty of room; you don't need to put it in another vertical space -- just put in in line with the other stuff you've got there.  Put it left of the "Search Library."  That would be fine.  But, just do it!

  • Downloaded album art not saved in mp3 file?

When I use iTunes to download missing album art, that art is not being saved in the MP3 file. I verified this behavior by checking that the file timestamp and size didn't change after the art was successfully downloaded and displayed within iTunes. As a second check, I also deleted the music from my library and re-added it, and the art work is missing again.
Only if I drag the jpg image to the blank artwork window does it seem to "stick".
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, if you download album art through iTunes and then later manually add art to the tag, the downloaded version is replaced. I think it still remains in the folder on your computer, but it does get replaced in the native song file. What I'll do is download the artwork from iTunes, then copy it and paste it directly into the tag for a permanent "attachment" to the song.

  • Unable to download album art present in the iTunes music store

I'm having a rather odd issue after moving my iTunes music folder to a new partition. It manifests itself as the inability to download artwork for certain albums that are available for purchase in the iTunes store, even though a short time ago the same covers were easily downloadable.
I'm 90% sure that this isn't an issue with the file tags, as these seem to mirror those present on the music store.
    Any solution would be welcomed.
    I'm using iTunes version 7.3.2.6

Are you saying that you can download album art for some albums in the iTunes store but not others?
If there was some general problem with the way you have iTunes set up or your connection, I would have expected you to have a problem with all album art. My first thought is that a problem with the tags seems most likely. The artist name and album name must be exactly right, other fields don't seem to matter. Have you checked for things like extraineous spaces?
iTunes album art is stored in the Album Artwork folder which is in your iTunes folder.

  • ITunes' download album art work

recently, my iTunes started to ask me to go to the iTunes store to download album artworks. It does this in the form of an pop up menu every time I start iTunes and it is not proceeding forward the rest of the program unless I click OK or Cancel. I can't seem to find a way to turn this thing off.
I listen to music for the music, not a picture.
    can anyone help?

ITunes won't do it, but there are a number of third-party programs out there that will. I use one called "iTunes Catalog" which will go out to Amazon or Google and download album art.

  • How do I download album art??

The only album art I have on my IPOD is from albums I've purchased.  How do I get it for albums I own and have downloaded?  There is a space for "drag album art" but where do you drag it from???  Thanks.

You can have iTunes download album artwork.
On a PC you go to Edit > Preferences > Store > "Automatically download missing album artwork"
On a Mac you go to iTunes > Preferences > Store > "Automatically download missing album artwork"
    Hope that helps!

  • How do I download album art from Cd's I own not offered on Itunes?

I own some old cd's that I have imported into itunes, some from other countries. Some of these cd's are not offered on in itunes. Is there a way to download the art directly from the cd? Any ideas? I've already clicked "download album artwork" and it does not work.

There's no artwork on the CD. A tip for finding suitable artwork is to go to Amazon, locate the album, save the picture to your desktop and drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Another way would be to locate artwork using Google image search and put the artist or album name and save the picture you find there in the same way. There are also some programs like this one: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag

  • *** How to get Album Art on your iPod Nano: ANSWERED!

I'll start by saying that my iPod Nano would not display ANY album art at all, even though it did in iTunes. I just added 180 albums to my iPod, and they all showed up, perfectly. Here's how I did it:
    1) Move all the songs you want on your iPod into the iTunes music library. (Open iTunes, and drag the files over the "LIBRARY" catagory)
    2) Click Music, under the LIBRARY heading.
    3) Add the artwork to each song/album. I used "iTunes Art Importer". It's a great program, and is really easy to use/download.
    4) Connect your iPod to your computer.
    5) Remove any songs you have on the iPod.
    6) Go to the Music tab, in the iPod control panel.
    7) Sync all music files/playlists from your iTunes library.
If you did this correctly, all the album art you added in your iTunes library should display on your iPod. Be sure to have "Display Album Art on this iPod" checked off.

I have 2.0 USB on my laptop and pc and it still does not work. Just ot really worried about artwork ecause I don't look at it while it is playing.......

  • How to get album art on iPod?

How do you get a picture of the front of an album to come up on your iPod when you play that album? The computer I am loading the songs onto it with has no internet connection, however I do have another computer with iTunes also that does have a web connection (but no firewire, so I can't use it to upload the songs). Anyway, is there somewhere I can download the art for all the albums in my collection and then transfer that to the iTunes on my offline PC and get it to put that album art on the iPod 5G?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Here are a couple of methods.
First off, make sure you have "show album art" enabled in iPod options.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

You'd be surprised what Google Images can bring up. There are literally millions, and even obscure album artwork can be found.
In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a nice free program to do it for you.
"however I do have another computer with iTunes also that does have a web connection (but no firewire, so I can't use it to upload the songs)"
Doesn't matter anyway since the iPod 5th gen (video) cannot transfer songs etc via firewire only USB.

  • Can't share downloaded album art

I have a Powerbook G4 17" & Mac Mini Intel Core Solo on a LAN. I use the mini to play music and such in the den. When I connect to my Powerbook's shared music library the music plays fine, but the album art that iTunes downloads automatically doesn't appear in the display box. The new album art displays fine on my Powerbook and my iPod, and the album art I put in myself prior to iTunes 7 appears just fine. But iTunes' own art won't show up on the mini. Of course, it won't show up on Front Row either. How can I share iTunes' album art on my mini?

I've had no problem displaying artwork over a network before iTunes 7. Actually, iTunes 7 still displays album art from by network, but the artwork that iTunes downloads automatically doesn't show up. But the artwork that I've attached myself does transfer over the network.
I have the mac mini hooked up to an HD TV, so I love iTunes hi-res album art on it vs. the low-res stuff I can find on the internet. I'd just love to use iTunes built-in album art feature from now on instead of hunting for hi-res art on my own. Anybody have any luck displaying art downloaded from iTunes across a network?

  • How to uninstall Album Art Thingy

I downloaded an application called Album Art Thingy, It never worked so I wanted to uninstall it. But, when I try to move it to trash, it always says "can't be moved to trash because it's open" even though it's not. How can I get rid of this thing? Thanks

This is just a thought but check your login items (System Preferences-Accounts-Login Items) and see if it's set to be started at login. If so remove it by highlighting it and clicking the - sign at the bottom of the box. Then either restart or logout then login and then try trashing it.
If that doesn't do it contact the developer and ask how to remove it.
