How to download alv data in webdynpro to external file

Hi,
  Can anyone guide me how to download alv data from webdynpro to an external file. i followed  the standard component WDR_TEST_EVENTS . FILE DOWNLOAD.

But how to pass our alv table data here instead of the  text  (Der Inhalt einer Textdatei) .

You are going to have to retrieve the data from the context into an internal table. You can use the node object method get_static_attributes_table.
Then you need to transform the internal table into something that Excel understands.  In the ALV we use an XSLT to transform the data into the MHTML Excel format. However this relies on internal structures of the ALV component and isn't easily resuable from outside the ALV.  Consider transforming the data into XML with your own XSLT or iXML parser or going with a simplier text-tab delimited format.  Search the forums as the logic to conver the data (basically looping and concatenating in CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB and CR_LF) has been discussed just the other day.

    The iphone is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases.

    However, if you want to get the data from several worksheets, I think you are stuck with OLE access to your Excel Workbook...

    There is one option -Export' in menu bar of ALV grid itself. Click on that and then click 'Local File'. Then choose 'Spreadsheet' option and provide local PC path for download.

    The standard icon should work!! Which icon are you using? there's one with the tool-tip text <b>Export</b>. That is the one to be used.
    If you are still not able to get that, then display the grid as a list and then use the standard menu option <i>System>List>Save-->Local File</i>.

    Procedure is :
    a) Get ALV Model reference
    b) Get list of ALV Columns
    c) Loop at each column and set visibility
    Code would be something like this
    I'm storing ALV model reference in view attributes wd_this->alv_config_table of type ref to CL_SALV_WD_CONFIG_TABLE.
    Data: lo_cmp_usage type ref to if_wd_component_usage.
      DATA: lr_salv_wd_table TYPE REF TO iwci_salv_wd_table.
      DATA: lr_column_settings TYPE REF TO if_salv_wd_column_settings,
            lr_column          TYPE REF TO cl_salv_wd_column,
            lt_column type salv_wd_t_column_ref,
            ls_column type salv_wd_s_column_ref.
    *create an instance of ALV component
      lo_cmp_usage =   wd_this->wd_cpuse_OVERVIEW_EARNED_ALV( ).
    * if not initialized, then initialize

    * get ALV component

    Then you need to enable macro in trust center of excel sheet settings. The way you do this depends on the version of excel you are using.
    I am able to get 200+ columns perfectly this way.

    hi Archana,
    you will get the byte format of the pdf form the pdf source attribute , create  a resource using that byte data of type pdf as following
    IWDResource iwdResource = WDResourceFactory.createResource(wdcontext.currentContextElement().getPdfSource(), "resource name", WDWebResourceType.PDF);
    create a context element say fileresource of type iwdresource.
    set it's value as following.
        wdContext.currentContextElement().setFileResource(iwdResource);
    and do the following code on the action of the download button.
    public void downloadFile( )
        //@@begin createExternalPopup()
        // get the resource from the context
        IWDResource resource = wdContext.currentContextElement().getFileResource();
        //create an external window. A download dialog should appear
