How to download BLOB through JSP

I am able to successfully insert BLOB in a table(ofcourse, Oracle db)..Now my problem is: If a user logs on to a web page and asks to download the .exe file,then, I should select that .exe file from the table(BLOB column) and should be able to download on his desktop..Is it possible thru' JSP??? I am able to download some jpg's but, they are corrupted after downloading..Can anybody help me on this?? Thanks in advance

How to access dataprovider through jsp syntax

I am creating an image gallery but here's my issue...
I have a database table that contains links to images on my file system. I created a dataprovider for this database table on my page so the dataprovider now returns all the image links.
Now what I need to do is create a row of thumbnails so I add a scriptlet in my jsp code where I want the thumbnail to appear. This scriptlet loops through the dataprovider and for each row it will create a standard html image tag populating the src attribute with the link from the dataprovider.
I figure creating dynamic html img tags is much easier than creating dynamic image components in the backing bean. Doing the former allows me to output the row of thumbnails exactly where I want them on the page (ie where i put my scriptlet code) and is easier to manage.
The problem is i don't know how to access the dataprovider through jsp tags and syntax. I'm sure there must be a way, can anyone help?

Hello there, greetings to forum,
I am working on JSPs and Oracle 9i with Tomcat 4.1.29. Suppose we have the very simple example of a user who registers through an HTML form by entering his name, surname and his picture via the "Browse" field (input type="file" etc). Everything so far so good for now until the next page waits for the parameters.
My main problem is how to tell my server (tomcat) that the remote user browsed his file from e.g. c:\docs\pics\vacation\ ??? As far as i can remember the JSP code is server sided so i can't tell tomcat that the file is in c:\docs\pics\vation\ . And finally: how do i grab the picture for the user's dir? The rest i know, how to put it in the BLOB column and so on. And also, is there any way of checking if the user uploads a photo or anything else except than examining the extension?

How to download file in jsp

Hi guys,
I am a new member to this java community. I meet some problems in doing my project, hope you experts can help me.
I want to add a download button in my jsp code. When users click the button, a file will be downloaded to his local computer. The files are ASCII files with .asc as extension. My server is Apache 1.3.19 with tomcat 3.2.1 . What kind of code should I add to my jsp?

I have tried to use the hyper link in html. But since it's ASCII file with .asc extension, every time the link is clicked, the file is opened directly instead of offering save option. So maybe some special code is needed.
Many software web site provides download page. When user clicks the download button, the file will be transfered to user's computer. Does anyone knows how to do it?

If you have a file name including the suffix like 'Test.file.doc' you can pass this file name as parameter to the method and get the MIME type back. I your sample it would be "application/msword"

How to download blob image, inline to new browser tab or window

APEX V4.2.3
I have an interactive report with a blob download column which is set to inline. When I click on the "download" link the image appears automatically in same window as the APEX application. How do I download the image into a new browser tab? I need to squeeze 'target="_blank" ' somewhere but I don't know where as the link structure is hidden.

Any one help on this , there is a requirement to download the data into XLSX file only.
I am able to to download the data into XLS file using the FM: GUI_DOWNLOAD in SAP ECC 6.0and also opening the file . But when i download the data into XLSX file . I am able to download the data into GUI_DOWNLOAD. But while opening the file i am getting the below mentioned error.
'Excel cannot open the file 'filename.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'
Ok buttom is coming not able to open the file.
When i use the FM: SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT to download the XLS it self it is going abap DUMP that file type error.
Any one help any Function Module or how to download data through abap programing into XLSX file.

If you want to download your ALV to an .XLXS format file, with all the formatting intact, please try the following code. I have tried to create a custom Function module Z_EXCEL_DOWNLOAD_TEST wherein I pass all the callback variables, the final ALV internal table and all the ALV details like field catalog, sort, layout, event list and so on, along with the concatenated file path and file name in I_FILE. I want to provide download facility in jsp page.
if i have exe download is working . If I have a text / html file it is just displaying I want to make it download How to do it?

If you want to get an "Save as" dialogue, then you need to set the content-disposition in the header to "attachment". The default value is "inline".
