How to download imovie 11 onto a mac OS X 10.6.8

I want to be able to use the new imovie 11 but when I try to download it a message pops up. The message sais that i need mac os version 10.7. I don't want to spend $27 to get the new version but I still want the new imovie. What do I do?

iMovie 9.0.6 requires Lion (it still pops up as an upgrade in the App Store as that doesn't check your system until you try to download it). Even if you paid for it again it wouldn't run on Snow Leopard. You are stuck at 9.0.4 until you upgrade to Lion.

You can get iMovie 06 in a number of ways. You cannot download it _FROM APPLE_ any longer (it was free for a time). You can also find iMovie 06 on the iLife 06 install disc.
You can buy iLife 06 on Amazon or eBay (it will cost more than iLife 11). BUT WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!

first create apple id
fill credit card details
and complete your account creating process.
than go to app store or itune store
login your acount
click right side - account button
than again login for account setting
next go to payment information and click edit button
when u enter payment infomation
click none button in payment method and click done button.
than ur credit card has been removed.

Thanks for responding, I downloaded the Creative Cloud Installer which is sitting under Devices in my Finder and then installed the Ai app which is appearing under Applications in the finder. I notice that in the launch tutorial there is the Adobe Creative Cloud sitting in the Apps folder above Ai - I don't have this. Hmm what to do?

What exactly are you referring to by "Adobe"? Flash Player? Reader? Something else? And you realize that no conte4mporary version of any Adobe software will even work on your 10 year old machine and the best you can hope for is using legacy versions which won't solve any of your issues (if you were hoping of watching YouTube videos or any of that)...

If it's because you were using Office 2004, the eight year old version of Office that was written when Intel processors were not used in Macs, then there will be no fix. Lion dropped support for PowerPC applications, as has been widely reported since Lion's release last August.
You can upgrade Office 2004 to Office 2008 or Office 2011. You can use iWorks 2009 that can open Microsoft files. You can use a number of free applications that are also capable of working with Microsoft documents. You can go back to Snow Leopard, if you have a backup. Or, if you have an external drive or room to add a partition to your current drive, you can install Snow Leopard on it.
Search these forums for more information. If this is your issue, it's been posted and answered several times a day since August 2011.
