How to download Mountain Lion without the App Store?

How I'm able to download and purchase Mountain Lion without App Store?
I removed the App Store since it was annoying in my application bar and I didn't use it anyway. Right after I searched up all files connected to it and deleted them. This was about 6 months ago.
Now I need to run a program that requires Java 7, which is only available for Lion+
Since Mountain Lion was coming out in a few days I waited on it, now it's out and I can't purchase it >.>

Restore your system from your Time Machine backup.
Or if you do not have a full system backup make one using Time Machine. Then download the 10.6.8 combo updater and appy it to your system <http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399>.
Or, you can purchase OS X 10.8 on your Macbook Pro, download, transfer the installer to iMac and install it. Just be sure and backup the installer to an external HDD BEFORE you install it on the iMac.
In the future just remove the icon from the Dock and you won't have this problem. Also, make backups.

  • Upgrading to os mountain lion without the App Store

Hello, is it possible to upgrade to mountain lion without the App Store? Our iMac is 10.5.8 is it possible to buy a disk from an apple store to upgrade?

    1. Not directly. The installer must be downloaded from the Mac App Store and run on Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer, including an external drive with a bootable OS on it. It also can't upgrade a 10.5.8 or earlier system.
    2. No.

  • Unable to download Mountain Lion from the App store

Hi, when I try to download Mountain Lion from the app store I get the message, " The product distribution file could not be verified ... " Obviously I'm doing something really stupid. Advice welcome!
    Thanks

A belated thanks for your help. I'd never have solved it otherwise. Maybe Apple could change the automatic reply that I got initially ("The product distribution file could not be verified ....") othewise they risk loosing customers.
    Thanks again.

  • How do you erase and reinstall a hard drive without a disc? I bought this mac book pro under a year ago and am pretty sure i downloaded mountain lion from the app store. Basically Im having startup issues and this is the final step Ive reached

when I start my laptop it loads a third of the way and shuts down automaticallyI've tried to safe boot, repairing discs and clearing RAM but nothing has worked. basically I've come to the final step of having to a erase my hard drive and reinstall mountain lion however Apple support suggest that I install from a disc however I installed mountain lion from the App Store. can anyone help me go about this?

Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Trouble downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store

    Hi!
I am currently running snow leopard 10.6.8.  I have updated all of my software, run time machine, and backblaze.  I have purchased Mountain Lion through the App Store, but have tried to download it three times without success.  I get a pop up window about 3/4 of the way through the download that says "download failed" , check our internet connection.  I have checked it in the Systems Preferneces and I have green buttons on both the ethernet and wireless connections.
Any suggestions for how I can successfully download and install Mountain Lion?
    Thanks!
    Kim

It won't mess up your computer.
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Of course, you have backups. Right?

  • I keep getting "hash mismatch" when trying to download Mountain Lion from the App store

I've been trying to download the new Mountain Lion from the App Store & keep getting "hash mismatch" message. I was able to download on my 1 computer, but no luck on the 2nd computer, which is up-to-date on all updates & software. Support even put a fresh copy of the App in my account & I still get that same message. Someone suggested AppCleaner, but how do you delete the OS to re-install the new. Didn't think that was possible. Any suggestions - I've tried quitting & logging out of the App Store & even re-starting (several times)

    -  Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.
    -  Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select Mountain Lion. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

    Hello,
I also have the same issue here. I can't even buy new apps. You can see more of my problem here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4379941?tstart=0
It seems to be some kind of wide-spread problem since discussions are appearing in the Mac App Store forum. I already contacted the Mac App Store support page located here:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/Issues.action
Hope this helps and don't worry you don't seem to be the only person with the issue...
