If you’ve already purchased the new iWork apps in Mavericks, you can use this trick to get Pages 4.3. If you still have access to a Mac running Mountain Lion. It must be Mountain Lion or Lion. Snow Leopard won't work. If the iWork '09 apps are installed, compress them & delete the originals. Launch the Mac App Store & click on the 'install' buttons under the iWork apps. You will get a message that you can't install the new version on this Mac but it will offer to download the previous version for you. Voilá, you have the self-contained apps that you can copy to another Mac.

I have Mac OS X 10.6.8. Version 10.7.4 is required to be able to install Pages.
Is an upgrade to Mountain Lion worth the money, and will it enable me to download Pages from the Apple Store? If not, is there a possibility to buy an older version of Pages somewhere?
Also, does an upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion equal an upgrade to OS X 10.8?

HermanThe early bugs were related to Snow Leopard updates, they just affected Pages. It was font issues & was "cured" by using the combo updaters. So, even if you're using Snow Leopard 10.6.8, it would be worth running the combo updater you can download from this page, especially if you're having issues.

What software has issues with Lion? I might know of some tips that could help. Personally, I moved from Lion to Mountain Lion as soon as I could. Lion has too many issues itself. But I do keep a couple of older Macs to run stuff that can't be run without Rosetta or other "legacy" systems. -
How to download Pages 4.3 to replace the flawed 5.2
Pages 5.2 may well have a lot of nice new features but given that it is now 30% fatter why has Apple removed essential features without publishing any warning about such excisions. 5.2 is very likely to ruin any 4.3 file you open, worse it stops 4.3 from working even after you trash it. All you get is a notice saying you will have to reinstall 4.3. Where is the best place to get download a reinstall file, any know?
The Mac App Store (MAS) only carries the most recent version of an app. Which is why Apple constantly reminds folks to backup their content purchases. Once Apple updates/upgrades to a newer version of an app, older versions are no longer available for download.
The accept ion to this is when you are running an older version of OS X on your Mac. Sometimes folks report that they are able to download the last version of an app that runs on their legacy version of OS X. Those are specific circumstances when the MAS does that. -

Last week I was in New York, and I bought the iPad. I'm very happy with my recent purchase, but I would like to use pages before the iPad will be released in my country (July). I have a Dutch Appe ID, ofcourse, and a US Apple ID, without creditcard. Since my adress is linked to my creditcard details, I can't create an ID with creditcard, and Pages is not in the App Store yet. Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this? How can I convert my Open Source document files into Word document files? I cannot download Pages since my Macbook Air does not have the most recent software. I downloaded open office to my mac to try and save money. It worked well for a while. Now I get this pop-up message that asks me to "Reopen" and when I select the option, nothing happens. I cannot save my documents anymore and I cannot convert them to word. Help!

You have 17 options to save as in Open Office, one of which is .doc files, yes it needs to be saved manually.
You may be able to default to DOC, but have not tried same.
Since Open Office is 99% same as Word, I use it, or Word, either one. Open Office is a bit less buggy than Word 11' -
I am trying to locate my old documents from my generation 1 ipad. I downloaded Pages to my ipad Air but my documents are gone. I did back up my old ipad to my computer but I didn't restore my back up to the new ipad. I wanted to start fresh. How do I go about getting just my Pages documents from that backup and by the way, how do I access that back up?
You will need to restore the backup - just downloading the app from the store won't give you its contents from a preivous device, you will need to restore the whole backup onto your new iPad (which will replace its current contents) to get the app's content.

I need to make a downloadable page out of a stream (or byte array - it doesn't matter) with a content of any type (e.g. a csv file or a binary file).
I would like to make a link on a page which whould trigger an event. In the event handler I would prepare the needed data (generate, etc.) and let the client download it as a binary file (so that browser whould display a download page with options to open the file or save it).
The problem is that I can't find out how to do that?
Are there any how-tos or examples?
Thanks!Well, a problem arised again when we moved our web application to the https protocol. DownloadPageRenderer didn't work at all with Internet Explorer browser, however other browser worked well and downloaded our file.
I've made a separate servlet for simply returning a file from HttpSession in a doGet method, this is done by the following code:

Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
