How to download PPC 10.4.11 system upgrades on a MacBook Pro intel computer

I have both PPC4 and PPC5 computers running 10.4.11 that need security updates with some regularity. My internet connection is dial-up. I have been having the local Apple reseller make cds or dvds of the upgrades I need but this is getting expensive. I have tried downloading the upgrades on my Mac Book Pro (intel) running 10.4.11 at our local library which has high speed internet. However, I'm doing something wrong. My attempts at having what I've downloaded to the MacBook Pro install on my PPC's have all failed. Can someone give me a step by step set of instructions. My ignorance abounds!

It's not really you, it's this day & age of everything being automatic so you don't have to think!
Normally when you go to download at Apple, Apple checks what computer you're on and only allows updates for that type of computer, Mac and Windows too.
Most can be gotten around by going to this URL...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
Which looks very similar to...
http://www.apple.com/downloads/
Yet this second one is the artificially "intelligent" one.
And of course Software Update won't find anything but for the Mac you're on.
Occasionally some downloads will still try to out think you, (iTunes, iirc), and you'll need to post here for a request for somebody to get the actual URL of that particular flavor of that particular download you need.

I looked at that already. I've done everything it says: check to make sure wireless is working, make sure airplay is enabled, make sure device and apple tv are on the same network blah blah. The icon just isn't there. Unless I skipped a step. AirPlay works when I use it in the music app and in the video app, I jus can't get mirroring to work. I was looking at some other threads and mirroring doesn't seem to be working for a lot of people. Maybe I jus have to wait for an update =\

Mac OS X has an awesome built-in application for this purpose called Image Capture
You will find it in your Applications folder on your Mac.
If your USB device is connected, you should see it in Image Capture as well adn download the images.
Image Capture can also connect to scanners, digital cameras, USB drives, you name it.....

Sorry, but that opportunity has long passed. Your options now are:
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

Unfortunately, there is no answer to this problem via this link. It may be that this is simply how the software actually works. It is a design fault in Adobe Photoshop Elements. It is possible to temporarily hide the dock within 'system preferences'. Oh well. Someone may know better.... I hope!

Let's say, I have an Iphone 3GS and it was synced to my older pc (I know...) and it crashed and I can't retrieve my files on there. I want everything that I have on my 3Gs: photos, videos, music, notes, voice recordings, etc... Now, I recently upgraded to 4Gs. I can sync almost everything via icloud but there are files like photos, videos, other music that I cannot sync or for some weird reason it won't work over the cloud. You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode with the MacBook as the main screen. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
The TV will now have the Dock and Menu Bar and windows will open on it. But you can move the cursor to the MacBook screen and move windows from the TV over to the MacBook screen.
You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box. That will give you the same screen at the same resolution on both the MacBook and the external monitor.
