How to download previous purchases w/ computer
Found this-

iTunes 10.5, OS 10.5.8
Open iTunes Store account, shows 2 authorized computers and 1 device.
Account shows downloaded apps over the past several years, most recent Jan 6.
Some were downloaded on my old computer, some on my iPad.
None reside on (nor were donwloaded with) my present computer.
When I select show all purchases I get the list. If I click on a purchase I see the details. However I see no button to 'download again'.
So, what is the procedure to download? Do I have to search the store for the apps then download rather than from my purchase history page?
I do not need to download them all again, there are too many etc.
Glad that helped!
I disagree with your "Sadly" remark, and actually think this is good behavior. You should be offered the latest version of the app, in my opinion. It is good you already know the workaround if you happen to have equipment that has not been updated to the latest iOS version.
Enjoy your Apple gear.

Ringtones (and audiobooks) can't currently be re-downloaded from the store. If they are no longer on your device then have you not got them on your computer and/or on a backup ?

I changed my apple ID on the same account. How to download previous purchases?
You should be able to redownload content (what you can redownload depends upon the type of item, what country that you are in, and whether the items are still in your country's store) via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes
Depending on how you updated your account you might need to log out of your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out) and then sign back in (Store > Sign In) for the update to be recognised. -

How do I download previously purchased albums from iTunes when the album has either disappeared from my computer or the tunes are not playable? The albums show as purchased on the iTunes store, but not available to download to my authorized device. I also have albums that appear in my library, but are not able to be added to my iPod from my computer
When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

how do i download previous purchases to my new computer. my old computer
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases
If you are in the U.S. you can use the cloud:

HT201272 How do I authorize my computer to download previous purchases?
I have downloaded a few songs on another computer that is not my own. Now these songs appear on the iTunes music list on my own computer and I ould like to listen to them, but in order to do that I must download them again. However, when I try to download them, iTunes does not allow the process to begin. A window saying "Your computer is not authorized. You must authorize this computer before you can download previous purchases." So my question as stated above it how do I authorize my computer to do that??!
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To authorize your Mac, first press Alt and S keys, so the menu bar will show up (if you are running iTunes 11). Then, go to the Store menu (on the menu bar) > Authorize this Computer -

How can I re-download previous purchases 2006-07 if I do not have the same PC?
ThanksThe ability to redownload past purchases is tied up to your iTunes account, not your computer. I don't know how far back in time Apple will have kept your purchase history. Presumably they now aim to keep it indefinitely but that may not have been the case in the past when you were only entitled to a single download.
