How to download previously purchased songs from iTunes to ipad2 without transferring music from an old MAC that is not supported?

How to download prior purchased music from iTunes to iPad without transferring from an old MAC that is not supported?

You would have to copy the music to a computer that is supported and sync it from there.

  • How to download non purchase songs to itunes from iphone

I have a lot of songs, downloaded from CDs, on my iPhone. I am syncing the phone to a new laptop. How do I get these songs onto the new laptop?

    Hi barbarafromoh,
As you probably know, songs on an iPhone that are not from the iTunes store can not be downloaded directly from the iPhone to a computer or another device. One way to do what you are asking is to use iTunes Match. See this article -

If you still have access to a computer that has the songs on it in iTunes, you can use the methods described in this article to transfer them -

How can I re-download previously purchased songs from itunes?

You only get one download.  It is your responsibility to backup your purchases.
UNLESS, you are in the U.S, then you can use the Beta version of icloud.  Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick links

  • My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes

My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed (my computer) I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes.  When I'm signed into Itunes and attempt to download from the cloud a text box pops up saying "I need to authorize the computer before I can download previous purchases".  I'm using the same computer that I purchased all previous songs.  So how do I authorize my computer?

    On your Computer...
    Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • Does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3

does it cost to download previously purchased songs/vides from I Phone onto I Pad 3?

It depends on where you live. You should be able to download virtually everything again for free if you live in the U.S except for some movies, audiobooks and extra iTunes content with movies.
This explains how you can download again for free. You must be using the same Apple ID that you bought the content with as well.

Transfer the song files from one computer to the other manually, and then drag them into the open iTunes window. Except for applications, one purchase only entitles you to one download; if you don't have the files at all, fill out and submit this form.

I think what the message is saying is that if you download past purchases for that account then you will be tying the Mac to that account for 90 days - I was thinking that it was saying that it's already associated with an account, not that you are about to associate it. If you don't want that to happen (which if it's your only account then it shouldn't be an issue), then you should be able to copy the content from your other Mac to it via, for example, home sharing : copying content between computers.

You should be able to redownload content (what you can redownload depends upon the type of item, what country that you are in, and whether the items are still in your country's store) via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes
Depending on how you updated your account you might need to log out of your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out) and then sign back in (Store > Sign In) for the update to be recognised.

my ipod nano4th gen will not download the purchased songs in itunes v11.  Just upgraded to mac 10.6.8-won't synch new songs since this upgrade.  The ipod is seen in the itunes as the devise, and the nano screens says synching when plugged into the macmini usb port, but the itunes window does not say it is synching like it has before so whats the culprit? Techno virgin in distress!
PS - I added an iphone5 which is whay these upgrades happened so this synching to the ipod error is since the iphone began synching.

I just learn in some post that the most common lapses in syncing is not checking if "sync music" in music section of the ipod is ticked. So double check if it is. Cheers!

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • New Hard Drive - How to re-download previously purchased songs?

I have an iTunes account. My son and I have purchased songs thru the same account. I have my songs in iTunes in my mac desktop. He has his songs in his iPod.
My desktop's hard drive recently died and had to be replaced. I had all my songs backed up so no problem there.
But my son did not have all his songs in his iPod.
When I go to the iTunes store I see all the songs we have purchased but I can't figure out how to download them again to the new hard drive.
    Any help is appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

See this -> iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
    Go here -> http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/lostmusic/
and send an email to Apple.
They have been known to allow users, on a case by case basis, to re-download songs ONE TIME.
If they do allow this, make sure to back up any purchases immediately.
Also, if the songs are on an iPod, they can be taken off the iPod back onto the computer.

Can't DL previous purchased songs on authorized computer

If you still have the entries for the songs in your iTunes library (even if the actual music files no longer exist), then iTunes assumes that you already have them and that there is no need to re-download them - try deleting the entry for one of them from iTunes and then try re-downloading it, and if it works then do the same for the others
