How to download purchased Lion?

Hi there - I bought Lion, and am trying to download it. I option-click on the purchases tab, and click download - it asks me if I really want to download it, then does nothing. If I click on Lion, it tells me it is no longer available in the US store - how can I re-download the software I have already bought??? Thanks!

Yes, I know. I hope you took my suggestion to save the installer application so you can make a USB flash installer. If you did, here's how:
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
   2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
   3. Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.

When, and if, you can get Mountain Lioin to download, it will automatically try to install itself. If you want to create a bootable installation disk (disc), quit the installer. You'll have a file in your Applications folder a file named "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app". Get yourself either a 8GB+ USB flash drive or use a dual-layer DVD and use Lion DiskMaker to create a bootable installation flash drive or DVD (the USB flash drive will be faster).
Don't know why you're having trouble with the download, though....

  • HT1338 How can I purchase Lion OS 10.7?

    Hi,
How can I purchase OS 10.7 Lion?

Since the OS X Mountain Lion launch, OS X Lion isn't available in the App Store anymore. However, if you want Lion, you can call Apple to purchase it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 They will give you a code that you will have to insert in the App Store, so OS X Lion will be downloaded onto the Mac. Make a backup before installing Lion and check that your applications are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Just bought a used macbook pro and it was wiped clean. how do I purchase Lion or maverick to start it up??

My daughter just purchased a macbook pro and it was wiped clean. It says we need to purchase Lion. How do we do that? We can't find it in the app store

It has a question mark inside the quick time logo everytime I click on it
If you mean you are trying to play a file and the QT icon with a quesion mark appears in the display area, then this means the play has reached a programming disjunction and doesn know what to do—i.e., the player recognizes the content but something is preventing proper playback is telling the user it has a question as to how the content is to be played. In such cases you normally have to determine what content, what file container, and which player version is involved before you can decide how to best fix the problem.

    You can't.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; only apps, books (not audiobooks), music, and t.v. shows (not movies).  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
It is reported iTunes Support permitting a second download on single download items when asked nicely, but they are in no way obliged to do this. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'iTunes' in the first column; 'iTunes Store' in the second column; third column click 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption' and proceed from there.

  • How to download purchased music onto new computer (please)?

How can I get my purchased music back onto a new computer? Old one crashed, only had some of my music on the ipod. I've followed some posts to get the ipod music back to the computer, but I see songs in itunes purchase history that are not showing up anywhere (that I can see). Is there any way to get these back? I tried the option that iTunes lists for downloading purchased music, but these didn't seem to download. Can anyone help? I'm not real computer savvy so please explain it "for dummies." thanks

    JustMeAndYou,
    For what it's worth ...
Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • How can I purchase lion to install on my wiped MBP

I've just purchased a used MBP 13" and got started wiping the HD and doing a clean install of Lion. Before I erased the principal partition with the disk manager, 10.7.4 was installed and running fine.
As I wasn't the original owner, I can't reload Lion as my Apple ID doesn't match that from the previous install. I don't have the original system disks either. Any ideas for getting my system up and working again, ideally without a trip to the Apple Store?
    Thanks!

It seems that I can't purchase Lion in an apple store - the only help they could give me was: log into the App Store on a friend's computer and purchase Lion. Now that it looks like Lion was pulled from the App Store today, I may well be screwed. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible to completely wipe a hard drive and start over? I may be able to source a snow leopard install disk to do this.

  • How to Download Purchased Audiobook from Work Computer

    Hey everyone!
I bought an audiobook on iTunes on my work computer, using my account. I would like to know how to download it on my ipod? My home computer is a MAC, but my work computer is a PC. When I plug my ipod into my work comuter it askes if i want to re-configure my ipod to window. I clicked ok, and nothing seemed to happen.
    Thanks a lot!!

If you want to use your iPod on Mac and Windows, it needs to be Restored on iTunes for Windows.
Mac can read Windows formatted disks but Windows cannot read Mac formatted disks.

  • How to Download OSX Lion WITHOUT App Store

I recently purchased OS X Lion for my old black Macbook. Unlike when I purchased OS X Snow Leopard and they sent me a CD, this time they emailed me the codes to download OS X Lion. The emails say that they require you to get the App Store in order to claim the download, which is only available through OS X Mavericks.
Since I updated my iMac to OS X Mavericks 6 months ago, I've had major problems with the machine ever since -- including iMovie becoming useless, and the computer freezing every couple of hours its used -- seemingly an overheating issue which I have been powerless to resolve. Since I didn't have Time Machine set up and can't figure out how to go BACK to the OS X I had previously on my iMac.... there's absolutely no way I'm downloading Mavericks to my Macbook as well. However, my Macbook is old and definitely behind on software... my safari won't let me upgrade to the newest one because I'm only on Snow Leopard and there are major security/spam issues on the outdated version. I need to upgrade to Lion.
My question is why would I buy OS X Lion if I had OS X Mavericks already? That would be useless.
So why would they make OS X Lion available to download ONLY through the App Store and thus ONLY through OS X Mavericks? That doesn't make sense.
Is there a way to get my OS X Lion downloaded without upgrading to Mavericks? Or is this just one of those dumb catch 22s that Mac invents just for the pure pleasure of being difficult on people who really try to enjoy their Macs?
I feel Mac purposefully makes their own machines useless a couple years after purchase in order to prompt people to buy the newest machines. Every necessary upgrade in order for our Mac to function, invariably makes our Mac dysfunctional -- like Mavericks preventing the built in iSight from working on my iMac...
My desktop has become very nearly useless and my laptop is on the way to being so if I can't upgrade to Lion. I am super frustrated that Mac is disempowering both of my systems.

Since you're running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, you'll have the Mac App Store. Open it from the Dock or the Applications folder.

  • How to download Mountain Lion without the App Store?

How I'm able to download and purchase Mountain Lion without App Store?
I removed the App Store since it was annoying in my application bar and I didn't use it anyway. Right after I searched up all files connected to it and deleted them. This was about 6 months ago.
Now I need to run a program that requires Java 7, which is only available for Lion+
Since Mountain Lion was coming out in a few days I waited on it, now it's out and I can't purchase it >.>

Trying to purchase Mountain Lion from the site:

Restore your system from your Time Machine backup.
Or if you do not have a full system backup make one using Time Machine. Then download the 10.6.8 combo updater and appy it to your system <http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399>.
Or, you can purchase OS X 10.8 on your Macbook Pro, download, transfer the installer to iMac and install it. Just be sure and backup the installer to an external HDD BEFORE you install it on the iMac.
In the future just remove the icon from the Dock and you won't have this problem. Also, make backups.

  • How to download "purchased" songs that are not in my library

I pre ordered an album the other day on my Iphone via the itunes store, when it became available to download i was sent an e-mail. I have put a screen shot, if this helps?
If anyone has had this problem and can help, thank you!

    Hi, edcf.
I have experienced the exact same issue this week for a Pre-order album as well.  I would recommend canceling the Pre-order and download it again as it most likely has not been charged.  This article will walk you though the process.

  • Unable to download(purchase) Lion Update from App Store

When I try to download Lion, the download sign in window appears and is populated with someone else's Apple ID. If I change the ID to mine and use my password I get 2 messages:
"We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)"
    Click OK and 2nd message:
    "Unknown Error"
iTunes does not exhibit this, and normal sign in to App Store shows correct ID, only the Download Authentication does this. I have been able to update other Apps just fine, this requires a purchase, and is the only difference.

Perhaps it was a display model at one time in the store and someone registered the OS in their name. I would return to the store with the Mac and show them the stranger's name that appears in the Mac App Store when you try to update Lion. Perhaps it is even an employee. Anyway, they need to set this right by you. A new Mac should not have someone else's Apple ID registered into it. That registration sent the unique identifier to Apple for this Mac and registered it to the person's Apple ID. Not cool.
