How to download Xcode?!

I've tried to download the Xcode, filled out all the lengthy forms to register myself as a developer. However, clicking "download Xcode fro free" didn't help. I'm suggested "to learn more" or "log in" (which I did), but still cannot download.
Suggestions?

The XCode software for Leopard 10.5 should be found on the DVD.
For OS X 10.5 Leopard you should be looking for Xcode 3.1.4.
Later versions are for Snow Leopard 10.6 at developer site.
There should be an appropriate page available via registered login
to the Apple Developer site; I'm not registered to search in-depth.
+You’re running an older OS, you need to go to this alternative developer website:+
• http://connect.apple.com/
+Log in with your ADC credentials, click “Downloads”, then click “Developer Tools”+
+in the right sidebar, and then search the page for “3.1.4″.+ (from KT's post 04-14-10)
You could try variations of words via search engine to get some info.
General information is online. This link may be what you already tried:
• Download Xcode - Apple Developer:
http://developer.apple.com/technologies/xcode.html
If you have an install/restore disc which shipped with your
computer (if it had Leopard/new) or a retail DVD Leopard
install disc, you should be able to use option to install Xcode.
You may need to read through these to be sure of version limits:
• Xcode Release Notes:
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#releasenotes/DeveloperTools/RN-Xcode/
Search page:
http://developer.apple.com/search/index.php?Search=xcodeforLeopard
Apparently the Xcode for Snow Leopard 10.6 is available; newer
versions than one on an install DVD are online for download. If
one is using 10.6 system, be sure to uninstall an older version
before using a new download developer version in your OS.
Leopard is a little harder to get, without the 10.5 install DVD.
Other items found require me to login at the developer page.
If you do not have the Leopard Install disc,
to get that would be about the best answer.
Good luck & happy computing!

  • How to download xcode 4.1 for mac os lion

hi, i am a new user of mac os and want to install xcode4.1. But i am not able to even download the same.

Yes, I feel it is less confrontational to say "piggy-backing" instead of "thread-jacking".
What seems to have been lost in the edit by the moderators is when I pointed out that this thread is from two and a half years ago. At that time, Xcode had recently changed from a download via the developer center to a Mac App Store product. Neither Mavericks nor Mountain Lion existed at the time. There was a lot of confusion about where to get Xcode back then.
Sometimes people are still confused about where to get old versions. Had you resurrected a thread from 2011 asking where to get a version of Xcode that had been archived at that time, then you might have a valid claim to a highly similar question.
It is always a bad idea to resurrect old threads like this. An answer that was correct in 2011 might not be correct today or in the future. That is why it is important to ask your own question to get timely, correct responses.

  • I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard. Now there is a new Xcode for Lion, so I downloaded the new one but the installed continued to be the old one. Now App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me to re-download Xcode. How can I proceed?

I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard 12 days ago. After installing Lion I saw there is a new FREE Xcode for it, so I downloaded the new one but after installing automatically Xcode for Lion the Developer folder contained the old one. I deleted the old Xcode but the App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me re-download Xcode.
How can I proceed? I'm guessing whether this problem will occur each time I buy an application from App Store.

Yes, that's righ, Xcode installer was in the Apps folder. I assumed it had been automatically installed and the installer deleted after installation (the same way as Lion is installed).
I tried also the procedure for redownloding applications, and MAS showed both Xcodes (Lion and Snow Leopard) and OS X Lion. We see that buttons for Lion and Xcode for Snow Leopard say 'Install' but Xcode for Lion says 'installed' because there is an Install Scode in the Apps folder.
    Thank you.

  • I downloaded xcode 4 from my brother user account, and I want to move that file to my user account ( how can I do it please help)

Hi everyone can anybody help please, I downloaded xcode 4 from my brother user account, and I want to move that file ( which is xcode 4) to my own user account, I was trying to find how to do it, but unfortunatally couln't do it, so please need world help,

You cannot. You have to make your own download by signing into the App Store using your Apple ID then downloading the file.
If you just want to install it on your computer, then copy the file to a flash drive and transfer it to your computer.

  • How do I download xcode without registering as an apple developer?

I'm trying to download xcode so I can wirte and compile c programs on my Mac.  This is for personal use.
I do NOT want to register as an "Apple developer" but every site I've found for downloading xcode requires me to register as an Apple Developer.
Where can I download xcode so I can write and compile c programs without being an Apple developer?

After reading both of your posts, I found my Snow Leopard disk.  I only got as far as reading the instructions on installing Xcode when I realized that everything gets put into /Developer NOT in the normal tree.  I already had it on my system!  However, "gcc" was unknown because nothing in the install process (or anywhere else) puts the /Developer tree into PATH.  So, the system couldn't find the compiler...
    Bad installation design...
Thanks though - if you hadn't mentioned that it was on the system disk, I wouldn't have found it!

  • Downloaded Xcode 5.0.2 and Macbook is running hot

I just downloaded Xcode 5, and then the update to XCode 5.0.2, and my processor is running over 100%. As a result, my computer is running hot only while XCode is running. Can anyone give a solution why, or how to prevent this issue? Thank you much for your assistance.

I ultimately deleted XCode 5.0.2, emptied the Trash, which took 2 days, and then downloaded XCode 5.0.2 again. Unfortunately, it did not solve my issue. My CPU is currently running at 98.5%.
The processor does not run hot when XCode 5.0.2 is not running. This issue only started occuring after installing XCode 5. My CPU never ran hot while running XCode 4. I still need some suggestions on resolving this issue.
    Thank you for your response.

  • How to remove xcode 4.1 and then install xcode 3.2.6?

how to remove xcode 4.1 and then install xcode 3.2.6?

Just an FYI I had xcode 3.2 installed on my snow leopard system and have today just installed Lion and I just cleaned and rebuilt an App I had developed prior to the Lion install to test to see if it would work. I was told it would but wanted to make sure and it successfully rebuilt and works in the simulator.
My issue is a bit different I need to install 4.1 WITHOUT corrupting my 3.2 installation as I may have to go back to rebuild a 3.2 App as we had a fairly unique setup for our xcode. The problem as I see it currently is I do not know how LION installs things in LION xcode is an App downloaded from the App store but I need to be able to download to something other than the default directories and I am not sure if I have that option in LION when installing an App(xcode) from the App Store

  • HT1444 Need to download Xcode but I don't have OS X 10.7.3

I currently have Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and I want to download Xcode from the Mac App Store but it won't let me because I need OS X 10.7.3. How do I do this? Will I have to purchase it?

You can't run Xcode 4 on Snow Leopard, and as far as I can tell Apple don't support or offer downloads of Xcode 3.2 anymore. In any case, there wouldbn't be much point in developing in Xcode 3 as whatever you build may not run on the latest Apple hardware or software (OS X and iOS).
Short story, I'm afraid, is upgrade to Lion if you want to do app development.

  • Error while downloading XCode 4

I am trying to download XCode 4.3.2 from App Store, the download stuck after 300 or 400 MB, I changed the DNS servers as recommended in some forums to be 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and the download went till 4.4 GB
Now currently the progress bar shows around 80% completed while the downloaded size shows either 4.4GB of 4.5 GB or 4.5GB of 4.5 GB and less than a minute to complete.
The "Less than a minute to complete" took till the moment around 14 hours with no luck, BTW am trying to download the XCode for 5 days with no luck, it either popup a message after a while with an error or it shows a red message "An error has occurred".
Please let me know how to solve this issue, and where can I find log files of the exact error and how to download it, this is my first week with Apple mac, and am not familiar with its OS.

When downloading XCode from the app store, it gets installed in your /Applications/ folder. All resources and tools are included in the XCode bundle and accessible from within the XCode UI.
Apple has a guide to walk you through each step from setting up XCode to deploying your iOS application. It can be found here:
    http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#referencelibrary/GettingStarted/RoadMapi OS/index.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40011343
    Hope this helps!
