How to Duplicate Event?

I use the included Calendar app. Is there any way to Duplicate an event? For example, I have a previous appointment that is going to happen again. It would be helpful to go to the previous event, duplicate it, change the date and time and have a new event set up. I do not want to Repeat because it is not a consistent schedule.
If this is not possible, then how can this suggestion be made to Apple so they can make this improvement?
Thanks,
Ed M.

I use Google's sync service keep my calendar and contacts in sync with my iPod touch, phone, and Google.

  • How to duplicate Events/Projects with only Proxies.

I'm on a MBP Retina, with 500GB SSD. Running Mountain Lion and FCPX 10.0.5.
    I have a 3TB Seagate drive.
I encoded all my footage to ProRes 422 first, then imported that as original media into my current Project. That footage is over 1TB in disk space.
I then created Proxies of all that, and am pleased at the performance, and file size of the proxies.
Now I want to copy my Event/Project to a smaller drive that only has 400 GB available (I measured my Proxies footage folder and it's only over 100GB. So plenty of space).
I've viewed tutorials on the dangers of duplicating in the Finder, and that everything must be duplicated or copied within FCPX.
So my question: How can I take my current Event/Project and Proxy versions only, and go home and edit, and then come back to the office and move my updated Project file and relink and keep moving with my bigger versions stored on my 3TB drive? What's the step-by-step?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

Here is a possible way to go about this:
Duplicate (or move) all projects to the backup drive. Duplicate the event to the backup drive.
Click on each copied project from the backup drive (you don't need to open its timeline), go to the Inspector and click on "Modify Event References". There you will get a list with two events (the one on the original disk and the copy you just made). Move the new copy to the top an click ok. Now your projects will reference the versions of your clips in the copied event, and you can safely delete the originals.

  • How to remove duplicate events in my ical icloud calendars?

    OS X 10.9.1
I have too much duplicate events in my icloud calendars.
How can I remove them automatically?
Is there any App available that works?
    Thanks

    Thats a good tip Reggie.
For anyone else reading this post, keep in mind that if you see "duplicates" with the MobileMe calendar it may mean you are seeing two separate copies of the same calendar.  Before spending time deleting individual events read this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3505

  • How do I delete duplicate events in my iCal?

Using SyncMate to sync my calendar and contacts from my Droid X to my iMac (MAC Office doesn't work since I upgraded to Lion).  Seemed successful.  However, I now have duplicate events in my iCal.  How can I delete the duplicate events?

    Hello Linda,
Duplicate calendar entries can definitely clutter up iCal.  I found an article that has specifically addresses duplicate birthday entries in iCal.  You can find the steps under section titled "7. Clean up birthdays and use the Birthday Calendar" in the following article:

  • Duplicate Events on iCal: How to Delete them.

I was having a problem deleting multiple events, particularly recurring imported ones. I could spend hours deleting them only to have them come back as soon as I scrolled a month forward or backwards. Sometimes events would appear 4 or 5 times on each date. It drove me insane.
This is the way to fix the duplication problem. You have to go back to the actual date you originated the event and modify it there. For example if you set up someone's birthday on October 3, 1998 in your calendar-regardless of the format (MAC or PC) you need to modify that date specifically.
I found that there are two versions of the same event on that specific date (10.3.98). They both appear as timed events versus ALL DAY checked events.
    1. Delete the second (or third, fourth, fifth) one first, you might not be able to delete the top one right away, but you will soon.
    2. Once you delete the second (or third, fourth and fifth) the first one becomes a recurring ALL DAY event.
    3. After deleting the lower non-recurring one(s), then modify the top recurring event in some fashion-I found any minor editing or anything really typically fixes it. If you want to delete both events in 98, then this is the place to do it.
    4. If you don't want to delete the entire event altogether, then simply modify the event as you wish and select DONE.
The key is finding the actual date of input regardless of the software you used to create the event.

    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

  • I am using FCPX 10.1.3. and want to duplicate my project, and its complete resources, to a different hard drive.  When I click "duplicate", it automatically duplicates the project in its current hard drive.  How do duplicate to a different hard drive

I am using FCPX 10.1.3. with Yosemite, and want to duplicate my project and its complete resources to a different hard drive.  When I click "duplicate", it automatically duplicates the project in its current hard drive, unlike the previous FCPX that gave you options. How do duplicate to a different hard drive?

Since projects are now stored in events and events are stored in libraries, you need to create a new l;bray on that different drive or open an existing library on that drive. Then duplicate your project and move it to the new library. It will copy the media. Then use the Consolidate Project File command to round up any external assets; there may or may not be any.

  • IMovie backup and duplicate events....

So i am moving up my works video archives onto an external drive and havig a few issues.
Whenever i move a project and event in iMovie it creates a new event folder will all the clips for each project i move.
The problem is that the projects and events are not always one-to-one. ie there are multiple projects from one event, and some prokects from many events.
When I move the projects across all the events are copied as well, giving me duplicate event folders of the extact same footage.
I tried to merge the events, but that just gives me multiple clips in the single folder.
The worst so far is 9 copies of a single event because grabs from event have been used in 9 projects.
As a result my external hard drive is filling up very very quickly.
I have tried making alias, but iMovie doenst recognise them.
Any suggestion in how to fix this?
    Thanks SGIT

    Hi Paul,
I tested with 3.7.1.4 and 3.7.1.5. In both versions I can see the issue.

  • My problem is that my iCal won't sync from my first-generation iPad to my computer, and the computer sends events multiple times back to the iPad... which is now full of duplicate events. I'm NOT on iCloud.

I'm just an old lady who doesn't know a lot about this stuff, but I do love my iPad and miss my portable calendar! My problem is that my iCal won't sync from my (first-generation, cheaper of the two models) iPad to my computer, and the computer sends events multiple times back to the iPad... which is now full of duplicate events. I'm NOT on iCloud. I've had this problem for nearly a year now. My Really Really Smart son couldn't fix it for me.

Can take some time.... how much time?
There's no simple answer to that. My calendar goes back to 2004 and is moderately busy; it took around an hour. It's possible that you've hit a slow period on the server - it happens.
In order for it to work, your calendars should show on the MobileMe site, they should be listed under your MobileMe login name in the calendar list in iCal (calendars listed under 'On My Mac' will not sync) and your MM account details have to be entered in iCal Preferences>Accounts (this should have happened by itself).
If it's not working please see the page I linked to.

  • ISync & iCal : Why does it duplicate events?

Just yesterday started using a new Nokia 2730 mobile phone. The first time I used iSync it seemed to correctly transfer all my calendar events onto the phone. However, with every new sync, duplicate calendar events are appearing both in iCal and my mobile phone.
    Can someone please help me...
    a. Understand why this is happening?
    b. What settings must I put in (iSync? iCal? MobileMe?) to stop this from happening every time I want to sync?
    c. How do I remove all the duplicate events already created in iCal?
    Many thanks!

"Open "Settings" on the iPod Touch>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks>Accounts>your MobileMe account and turn off Calendars, when prompted delete data, and wait two minutes, then turn Calendars back on. When asked merge the data, make that choice, and wait patiently. You should no longer have duplicates. If you are able, I recommend using a Wi-Fi connection to make the change. Then do the same thing for Contacts."
come on guys macs are easy but you really expect them to be idiot proof.... take a little initiative instead of complaining and it might pay off more. It took me a grand total of 2 min to find the workaround.... prob less time than it took you to whip off these posts.

  • Annoying duplicate events

I have been trying to get rid of duplicate events in my iCal calendar for ages and it seems like it is a never ending battle. I have three Macs, all with the latest OS, and other software. I also have an iPhone 3Gs and I prefer to keep their calendars all in sync.
I have tried using MobileMe to sync my calendars and Google CALdav calendars via Spanning Sync. Both ways yield the same problem. A few days ago when I had some extra time, I manually deleted all the duplicate events I could find in my calendar, then I archived it. I used a utility to locate the duplicate events. I then went to my other two Macs and I imported the same archive, which should have made all three Macs have the same calendar.. I also have an iPhone 3Gs, where I disabled the calendars before I did this, then I enabled the calendar again on my iPhone and allowed it to download all the events again.
Another day or two later, lots of events where I removed duplicates are now duplicated again. This tends to happen with the last day of a recurring event, but sometime its a middle day where the duplication occurs. I rarely see the problem with non-recurring events. In fact, had three events that had over 300 duplicates, which fortunately have not returned. Removing those duplicates was a pain in the neck.
This is a minor issue, but it is very annoying. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this problem, please let me know.

I have the same problem: icalc make a duplicate of all events. This happens in former time too, when apple make a new software update. I solved it by delete every double event.
Why apple can not get rid of these problem!!! The events are very important for me.
Dupe deleter don´t find the duplicates!
Apple have to update icalc with a funktion, that find these duplicates and make it possible to delete them!!!
Knows anyone a possibility to delete the duplicates comfortably?
    Greats by rettho

  • Duplicate Events - Migrating from Entourage to iCal

Upgraded to Snow Leopard, and decided to try and make the big move from Entourage to Mail/iCal.
Mail and iCal have no issues whatsoever connecting to my Exchange 2007 server, but iCal creates two of every event in my iCal calendar. I also get notifications of new events in both Mail and in iCal, prompting me to accept the meeting in both applications.
Given that I'm typically scheduled in 50+ meetings a week, you can imagine how this quickly makes a mess of my calendar. In the meantime, I've taken my Mail account offline, deleted my iCal calendar, and gone back to Entourage, where everything appears normal.
I am not a MobileMe user.
    Any clues? Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem with Snow Leopard. Entourage is working fine but when I connect with iCal, I get tons of duplicate events. I deliberately not syncing via MobileMe until I get this sorted out so that is not a likely cause. We need some Apple folks' help on this fast!
