How To Send A Private Message

Why not just use the 1Password iPad app?  You can copy the password and then switch back to Safari and paste it.  That's how I do it.  Works fine.
I wanted to us 1Password, but I couldn't figure how without using the "write-it-down" method I described. But now I discovered iPad Tutorial: Multitasking or How to Use Fast App Switching on the iPad in iOS 4.2 here:  http://tinyurl.com/ipad-fast-switching
So I take-back all the mean comments I made about Apple and password management. (Although I'm entitled to be critical – I started on a Mac Plus, and I survived that horrible few years when Apple "Support" was laughable.)  But now, don't get me started on the clunky file transfer technique and that a USB cable is required instead of...a dock. I mean, didn't Apple kind of introduce the idea of a "docking station" for notebooks? Anyway, there's other forums for these comments .  ;-)

  • How do you read your favorite feeds?

Hi! This is my very first post on Arch forums.
I'm wondering about how do you read your favorite feeds? Which software do you use and why (what kind of features).
I'm more interested in finding a little software that uses the system tray.
Yet I'm also curious about just how does, those who utilize RSS, do it.
Personally I've used YARSSR, which is exactly what I want, except for few problems..
On Ubuntu it used to be as easy as make, make install (having build-essenial installed). On Debian 4.0 stable it is in the stable repos, so it was even easier. On Arch it's not in any of the repos nor AUR and make, make install didn't work:
    # yarssr
    bash: yarssr: command not found
    # /usr/local/bin/yarssr
    Can't locate Gnome2.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib/yarssr /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /usr/local/lib/yarssr/Yarssr.pm line 3.

Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/bin/yarssr line 13.
    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/bin/yarssr line 13.
I'd love to understand what's going on. How to install it right.
Anyhow, it's far from perfect anyway. It's the single thing that is not working so perfectly on my Debian as it should. Uses way too much CPU, sometimes stays trying to update and never does update nor allow forced updates, no quitting, etc..
I also use Google Reader, which is great to read many feeds and manage them, etc.
All I want is a little applet (maybe GNOME applet?) that gives me quick glimpse of my top favorite feeds, without using my browser nor launching a full-functional aggregator.

    Hi James.
I'd like to know how you want to read your news
i'd prefer a cli frontend, web front would be bonus (river of news style).
snownews is good, just needs a few tweaks, some ui ones, and the main one being:
often i dont get to read news for a few days straight, so i'd like something i can put in cron and it'll update, and log the news for a few days straight, so when i get back it's all there. this generally limits me to one of the web clients, i dont know any desktop apps that do this.
i might write up an app to do this someday
as for your yassr problem, pacman -S gnome-perl?

  • Premiere Element 9, how do you save your favorite transitions and 1080/60p

In Premiere Element 9, how do you save your favorite "transitions" and or "effects" to a folder like all the Premiere Element versions, theres no right clicking.
Does anyone know if the Panasonic HDC-tm700 1080/60p would work in version 9 ?

As you can see from this discussion from Muvipix.com, that camcorder does have some challenges.
    http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=8453
In 60p mode, it uses a proprietary system that most third-party editors, including Premiere Elements, have problems with.
Using the software that came with the camcorder to convert it to 60i seems to make it compatible.
I'm not sure why Panasonic decided to make its video format non-standard. But it looks like the easiest solution is to edit that 60p video pretty much only with the software they give you with the camcorder.

  • How do I find my "FAVORITES" since I switched from Internet Explorer?

It appeared as though they were transferred during the transition from Internet Explorer to Firefox but I can't locate them.

If you did not have Firefox before your bookmarks would be from Internet Explorer, if you chose IE.
It should have put what was in your bookmark toolbar in IE into your folder "'''Bookmarks Toolbar'''" which you can see in the bookmarks sidebar ("Ctrl+B") as one of three major folders -- "'''Bookmarks Toolbar'''", "'''Bookmarks Menu'''", and "'''Unsorted Bookmarks'''". You will probably find your favorites separated into each of those three folders.
'''To make the Bookmarks Toolbar visible''' on your toolbars use
#"Alt" key to display toolbars temporarily (as in IE)
    # View > Toolbars > (checkmark) Bookmarks Toolbar
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 and '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6)]. -- Picture of [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/icons/fx4toolbars.png before/after] changes.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
