How to easily remove unneccessary files?

I use a lot of scratch and test tracks. For every one track I lay down there's probably five I used and removed from the multitrack. Now my hard drive is starting to fill up with all these unnecessary tracks. Is there some easy way to remove the unneccessary files? (or some of way of saving only the files used in the session?)

Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

There is no guarantee that you can delete a file, you can only make an attempt. There can be any number of reasons, most if not all of them not related to code, that the deletion of a file does not work.

If you are unable to empty the trash, try holding the Option key while selecting Empty Trash.

Ah, do you mean it's showing in the header bar?
If so, hold cmd (⌘) while you drag it off to the desktop. It'll disappear in a puff of virtual smoke.
Don't worry, you won't lose the file; the icon in the header (and those in the sidebar) is just an alias.

Although there is not a way to remove past purchases from your iTunes account completely, you can hide them so that you don't have to see them if you don't want to. This article will help you do that:

Hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from the top of the window.
A list of your purchased items for the content type you are viewing will appear. Mouse over the item you want to hide until an X appears its top-left corner.

When I deleted unwanted songs from my iTunes Library I selected the option to Keep Files instead of Moving Song to the Recycle Bin. As a result I've now got a load of unwanted music files clogging up my music folders.
So how can I identify music files that are in my iTunes Music Folders but have been deleted from the iTunes Library and then remove them from my hard drive?

Here's a thought, have you added any new items to your library recently?
If you add your iTunes music folder to your library, anything not already in your library will be added.
Now go to your library view and make sure you have the date added column visible. (Right click in the header row to get a list of columns that can be selcted).
Now sort by date added and everying you just added will be together and can be easily identified for deletion.
Note this only applies if files are in the iTunes Music folder, files in other places have to be deleted in Windows Explorer.
PS iT is usually a good idea to make a copy of iTunes Library.itl before experimenting. Copy it from your iTunes folder to somewhere else.

Back-up your data and then Factory Reset your phone ...(Menu-->Settings-->Restore Factory settings-->Settings only.. followed by 12345 which is default security code, unless set by you) .. When the phone reboots, check whether these .nrw files are now converted to .jpg .. If so, you should be able to delete them now ...

How do I remove backup files from desktop

I am having difficulty removing backup files that are locked from my desktop that I transfered from a backup external hard drive. It starts to delete but whern it gets to 0 it rewrites the file. this happens evn after I answer "remove all locked files".

I was able to delete the backup.backup files once I :
1. ran disk repair
2. disconnected the external drive and restarted.
Also the 1password.backup files
( Other discussions helped greatly.)

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

How can I remove a file that is no longer associated with a page?

I have a hurdle that is preventing me from completing a task.
I am trying to build a spry asset--specifically a vertical menu. When I initially built the page, I built the menu. However, the look was rejected and I was asked to re-create it. I went back, removed all references to the spry asset, and stripped the menu from the page. But when I open the page which I want to build the menu on again, it is still showing that a .css and .js file are associated, event though they aren't. And when I try to rebuild the asset, it won't add the proper .css and .js file because it thinks the files are already created.See the screenshot below to view what I'm talking about.
If anyone has an idea of how to tell Dreamweaver that those two files are no longer associated with the page, I would appreciate some help. THis is the last major hurdle before I can complete a project.

There is a box entitled “Metadata:” – but choices are “Copyright” – “Copyright and Contact Info” - “All Except Camera Info” – “All”.
Is there any other way I could check to remove all the info I see when I open “File Info”?
And, what does all that stuff in the Metadata box mean? I would love to look it up for myself – but have no idea where to go to find info about it.
