How to edit 60i Footage as 60fps, im only getting 30fps

I am trying to edit my 60i Footage from my Canon xh-a1s, and i can only get it to use 30fps. What capture settings, and project settings should i be using to get the 60fps? I really need 60fps for some shots i want in slow mo. Thanks

60i is an incorrect (and often confusing) way of saying 30 interlaced frames per second. This is the norm for 1920 x 1080 media.
If you want genuine 60 fps, you'll need to shoot at 720p/60 (which the Canon won't do, but JVC cameras will), or use one of the newer consumer Panasonic cameras which record 1080p/60.

Editing 60i footage at 24p (slowing it down so it plays at 80% speed

Hello,
So i need to cut a montage from 60i video that is going to go into a 24p timeline... I'd love to treat the footage as if it was shot at 24p (seperate the fields and slow it down 80%) so i could just cut it in and be done with it... any idea how to do this?

Well, the easiest way I can think of is to load the clip into Cinema Tools and resolve it to 23.98 fps. That just changes the frame rate. Separating the fields, BTW, won't do anything for you.

How to edit AVCHD footage

I'm using a Panasonic AG-HMC40 that creates AVCHD files that take forever to convert to .mov files so i can edit them in FC Express HD. I'm using
AVCHD Converter to convert the .mts files to usable .mov files. Is there a better and quicker way to convert these .mts files?

It seems FCE has a menu to directly import AVCHD video from your HD card, but I am not sure whether all camcorder typies can be supported.
If not, you need a third video converter such as "Total Video Converter" to help you convert avchd video first to mp4 or mov.

How to edit text in design mode - i.e get an I cursor instead of arrow

DW CS6 This is a very basic unclear on concept question. I normally work in code view and have no problems. Sometimes there is a large block of text within a paragraph which is in a div.
I would like to correct a simple typo or insert some more text directly from the design mode display. However, almost all the time, when I click on the spot I want to modify, the cursor remains an arrow and the entire div gets a yellow border. I still have the select arrow, not the vertical bar I need to edit.
Sometimes I seem to stumble onto the right set of clicks and get the edit bar.

Design View can get pretty cranky when your code has errors.
Check the validator at http://validator.w3.org and make sure you're working with clean code before resorting to wiping preferences, config folders or reinstalling.
If your code is clean and it's still not allowing you to click your text in Design View, you may have a z-indexing issue. I notice on pages that use a lot of positioning (APDivs) you can accidentally cover up your text boxes with blank/transparent areas of other elements and cause problems when trying to access that text at a later date.
It's all guesswork though without seeing your actual page.

How can I tell if my phone is only getting a quick charge if it reads charged 100%?

iPhone 5c battery is not holding charge for more than 3-4 hours. It has gone completely dead twice in one day because of it. Battery says 100% at start. Apple Genius Bar help said that I'm only getting a soft charge or a partial charge and that is why the battery runs down so quickly. They recommended replacing my power cords. Problem is, I have charged it on 3 different cords and it doesn't seem to matter.
Took it to Apple store- they wiped it, let it die completely, recharged it to 100% overnight and still had trouble. Took it back, reloaded everything, phone died, let it charge overnight to 100% and today the battery is down to 40% after about 2 hours.

No problem.
If you took it to the Apple store and they troubleshoot it for you and you still have issues.
Better to get another phone.

How can I print e-mails. I only get headers

When I try to print a copy of an e-mail I only get headers & footers but the content does not print.

HDW-F900 Cinealta - How to edit on a 2.5GHz G5?

We've just signed a long-term deal for multiple shoots on a Sony F900 HD . Now we have to figure out how to edit the footage without to having send everything to a high-end production house for off- and online (thereby wiping out the bulk of our profits). Searched these boards and it seems one possiblity would be to get the tapes cloned, bring them into our system as DVCam for the edit, then take them to another facility for the on-line. Only problem is that the one place in town capable of doing an accurate clone is notorious for stealing footage and selling it off as their own.
Another option is to buy a new MacPro 8-Core with some of the deposit money. But even if we do that, we'd have to invest in a capture card (which I'd hate to have to do before the new AJA IoHD comes out) and rent an HD deck (which is hugely expensive and may not be possible to rent here ). So any advice from all the pros out there working in uncompressed HD?
G5 2.5 Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The only way you are going to be able to work with that footage is to:
a) capture it yourself. This requires that you get a capture card and a RAID array...and that you rent a deck. The I/O HD isn't out until July, so you'll have to invest in a capture card in the meantime for this option. BUY WHEN YOU NEED is one of my mottos...and you have the need now. Yes, renting decks is expensive...you are working with a VERY high end HD format. This is something you need to take into account and change your billing to reflect. If you go this route, offline and online yourself, I recommend capturing as DVCPRO HD for offline, then UC 10-bit for the online.
b) have the footage captured at a post facility, or dubbed to DVCPRO HD and you rent that deck to capture...or to DVCAM and capture that. Both formats are capturable via firewire...no capture card required. Make sure that you remove pulldown on the DVCAM tapes, if you shoot 24p. If you go this route, you'll have to risk that facility that steals footage...if that is your only option.
What would I do? Option A. I'd rather not deal with a shady post facility...and pass the additional cost onto the customer. But the cost might work out being the same as option 2, depending on what they charge for dubs and doing the online. But you don't add the risk of losing footage.

How efficient is CS5.5 on a 7200 RPM HDD to edit HD footage?

I presently have two Seagate Cheetah HD -146.8 GB internal 3.5" SAS 15Krpm 16MB in RAID 0. This is the recommended configuration from Adobe to manage uncompressed HD footage.
If I install the Production Premium on a 7200 RPM HD, would it be the same efficiency as the RAID 0 configuration to edit HD footage?
I also have an Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition/ 3.2 GHz processor, a ASUS P6T DELUXE /OC PALM MOTHERBOARD 1 390.00 390.00 AB Motherboard - ATX - iX58 - LGA1366 Socket - Serial ATA-300, and a Quadro CX Graphics Card NVIDIA PCIE 1.5GB with 24 GB of RAM. I also have a 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD for storage.

To Mylenium. You're right, it's not about the footage. The Raid 0 configuration at 15000 rpm is for the Adobe Premium CS5.5 64 bit. When you open Premiere, After Effects or Photoshop, it's incredibly fast because of the Mercury Engine. And you can playback HD footage in real-time without rendering. That's what Adobe and most experts recommend. But I was wondering how the Premium CS5.5 performs when installed on a regular 7200 rpm HD.

What can I say. We blew the shoot. His high-end Sony camera - std def at 4:3 aspect ratio.
My camera - the little Panasonic DVX100, set to anamorphic, so 16:9 aspect ratio.
I have to edit this footage together in the same sequence. Obviously, I'm getting prompts to change the sequence settings every time I try to move footage onto the timeline.
Alternatively, would someone just thunk me in the head.

What is the ouput - standard 4:3 DV?
If so, put a clip of the 4:3 material into a timeline and accept the offer to conform the timeline to that material. Then, any of the 16:9 material will be part of that settings - however - you will want to go into the DISTORT settings in the Viewer to alter the material so that the image extends beyond the sides (aka a center cut). It has been a long time since I've done this but I remember the number is something like 33 (or -33).

Accidently recorded 60i footage - how do I bring it into FCP? Help!

I have just found that I have filmed some of my work in 60i (using a Sony Z1) and some in 50i. I actually wanted it all in 50i (PAL) as I'm in the UK and naturally wanted the footage to be consistent.
The problem I have found now is, is that I can't bring in the 60i footage onto FCP. I'm connected up via Firewire, and am using a G5. I've tried changing the capture settings to NTSC, but no joy. All I actually get is audio, as the video preview is disabled. Naturally it plays fine on the Z1. I've also tried it on DSR-45, in which it also plays back fine on the monitor, but I can't get anything into FCP.
Do I need an NTSC firewire cable? Or do I need to get the footage transferred to PAL (50i)?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure that your Z1U menu is set to play back NTSC 60i video or if you are using a player other than the Z1U make sure it is set to 60i NTSC output.
Create a new project in FCP with NTSC 60i settings and import the footage. Then export the new footage to Compressor and transcode to 50i.
BTW there is no such thing as an NTSC Firewire cable. The cables don't care what standard you use

I have 60i footage that I want to import into a 24p sequence. The scene was filmed in 60i specifically because I want to slow it down 50% in my premiere sequence and the 24p does not allow for good slow motion.
My concerns are how to do it, and how to (if necessary) de-interlace the 60i?
