How to Edit a Missing Flash Image?

I was given a flash project to edit. I have to edit one image in Photoshop, but when I right click on it and choose Edit with - Photoshop, an error message comes up saying "The file G:Web-02\Site\film120902.gif does not exist, unable to launch external editor". I don't understand how Flash can list the image and display the image when I click on it, yet it doesn't exist. I tried to copy the image and paste it in photoshop but it only pastes a very low resolution version of it. What do I do?

Think of your Flash doc as sort of a table of contents.... listing all the stuff that is (suppose to be) in the book. It does not become a .swf until it is "Published" or "Control/Enter" to create a .swf.
But nobody knows if one or more of the pages have been ripped out.
So if you cannot edit that image because it no longer exists, see if there is a version of the .swf or Web page that actually displays the image in the size you need. Then "Print Screen", open PS, File, New, Edit, Paste...there is a screen capture.. crop out what you need and edit from there.

How to edit vector in Flash?

I've imported a vector graphic from AI into my stage. When I click on the vector graphic that's been converted to movie clip symbol and drill down to the vector level, as soon as I insert a keyframe in the timeline, I no longer can use an eraser to edit the vector graphic. It automatically move up one level as soon as I insert a keyframe. Does anyone have any idea why I'm getting this behavior? I want to create a hand written effect with this vector grachic. This is frustrating. It's not behaving like it suppose to be. If I draw a vector square on the stage, convert to movie cli, double double click the movie and then I am able to edit or change the vector shap but that's not the case with the imported AI file.

Okay, I've noticed something. Whenever I import an AI file into Flahs, parts of the vector graphic has turned into bitmaps <Mesh> and so; therefore, I can longer edit it in Flash. Any reason why this is happen? Arent vector graphic suppose to maintain its vector property?

You were mislead. Text in a flattened raster image (your JPEG) is essentially "burned in" and not editable or erasable in Illustrator. It is true that you could set type over (in front of) an image with Illustrator.
It may be possible to achieve the end result you want, but without seeing the image, it would be difficult to tell you how to proceed. Can you post a screenshot?

[Solved] How to edit IP of Arch images

Hi,
I've got some (half-old) Arch images with a static IP of 10.x.x.x.
My current router gives me addresses at 192.x.x.x.
How can I edit these images to change the IPs?
I've tried mounting the image and editing /etc/netctl/my-network, but this seems to have no effect, I'm guessing because I didn't issue netctl start / enable (and I don't know how I would do that, since these are images that I cannot access... due to their static IP).
Any clues?

Drag a sound to the Stage. You'll see it appear in a
keyframe. Click
inside that keyframe and look to the Property inspector.

How I fixed the missing Flash.exe in Extension manager 5

I was surprised to see that Flash 5 was absent from the list of programs in Extension Manager 5
First I ran
Adobe Utilities-CS5/ExtenScript Toolkit CS5
BridgeTalk.__diagnostics__;
In the relevant section in

Path = D:\programs\Adobe\Creative5\Adobe Flash CS5\Flash.exe

I noticed that the path to Flash.exe was at the same level as other creative suite programs.
The regstry also reflected this
my istallation put it at one extra level i.e. in
D:\programs\Adobe\Creative5\Adobe Device Central CS5\Adobe Flash CS5\Flash.exe
I corrected the registry entry, but this didn't help.
Then I added the folder Adobe Flash CS5 in Creative 5.
Into this file I put a shortcut to Flash.ext but this wasn't suffient. Finally I realized that the file XManConfig.xml, which is in the folder Configuration,
was required so, instead of just adding this File I coppied the Configuration folder to the Adobe GFlash C5.
The the Flash program is now present in Extension Manager, and I am now able to add extensions.
Why the installation put the Flash.ex in a dfferent folder from the other programs in the suite I don't know, buT i didn't want to mess with the folder structure.

I don't know why your flash was installed in "Adobe Device Central CS5". It is supposed to be installed in the same level as "Adobe Device Central CS5", in your case, "D:\programs\Adobe\Creative5". Was Flash installed by another person? Or the target directory was set to this wrong folder? Anyway, you can think "Adobe Device Central CS5" as another component or product in CS5 family, just like "Adobe Flash CS5".

How to edit F4V from Flash Media Server?

I'm using FMS 4.5 to record a live stream from a webcam. Because of the poor quality when also recording audio on the same stream, I have to use two. So, I end up with two .f4v files - one with the video, and one with the audio. I need to then combine them into a proper video. However I cannot import these files into Premiere - which is quite goofy. Anyone know how to manage this?

The parameter that needs to be set is "wmode"... and it needs to be set to "transparent". This can be set in the HTML section of the Publish Settings in Flash (window mode selection list), or edited in the html embedding code if that parameter is already present.
I would normally also recommend changing it to a jpeg or gif if it is not an animated piece except if it is using Flash drawn vector graphics... as a Flash drawn piece it will adapt cleanly to a resize where a jpeg or gif might lose clarity, and it could be a significantly smaller file than a jpeg/gif version. Personally I never tried using a Flash piece as a background, so I'd say try it first anyways just to see if it works well... trying things is the best way to learn.

In Flash CS4, I have a graphic of a long filmstrip with 24 pix in it. I need to edit the symbol in photoshop (to put all new pix in), and then replace the current filmstrip with the new filmstrip. How? This is CS4, not CS5.

Add an image to a folder with your fla, image folder(with image inside) and then re import image to stage again then try 'EDIT' the file!

How do i find or replace the missing disk image? for my HD ........as it is missing when i try to back up with time machine,
i asked for assistance the other day with time machine
now i have worked out this is the reason i can not back up with TM, due to no disk image in my portable hard drive
I saw a post on youtube where it explains you can copy a your HD disk imag from your time machine back ups enabeling, time machine to back up
But i can not find where the TM Back up driver is situated in my TM Back up's
Some advice would be greatly appreceate as i am rather new to Mackintosh

Hi again.
Just re-reading your first post, I wonder if you're confusing a disk image backup with Time Machine?
It's certainly possible to create a disc image of your Macintosh HD and copy it to an external drive.
However, as a backup that method has a drawback; you can't boot from a disc image directly. It needs to be mounted on a bootable system before it can be used. So it's not really much use if the internal HD fails, at least as far as allowing you to carry on working while the repair is carried out.
Much better (and simpler) is to clone the whole drive to the external using CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper (there are plenty of others, but those appear to be the most popular).
That will give you a bootable backup which can be kept up to date by incremental backups using the same applications.
In the event of total internal HD failure all you need to do is replace the drive then boot from the clone and reverse clone to the internal to get up and running again.
Many of us use both a bootable clone and Time Machine (on seperate drives) as each has it's different uses.

I am new to flash and I am trying to create my first flash site using a template that I have downloaded. I can edit the first page fine, but when I click the "about us" or any other section, the standard template text, Which isn't even in english, appears. I believe that these are psd files, and I have tried to edit them, saved and replaced file on my computer, but still I get the same unchanged text on this site when I preview. Could someone please tell me how to edit and replace these files within the flash movie?

Instance names are the reference names that you give to the individual items on the stage. Only movieClip and button symbols can have instance names.
When you import a photoshop file to Flash you will get individual bitmap objects on the stage and in a folder in the movie's Library. You will need to select each item, one at a time, on the stage and convert each one to a symbol. When you make that conversion the name that you give to that new movieClip or button is the name that you will see in the Library.
When you select that new symbol on the stage, look at the Properties window. You will now see a space at the top where you can give that item an instance name. The instance name is what you will use in Actionscript to control that object on the stage.
When you look in the movie's Library, you will see the original bitmap and the symbol that you created that contains that bitmap.

Yes you can... but like I said before you need to upload the
data from the changes you make to a server.
In terms of the solution... its unlikely that you'll find one
specifically for your needs. You will have to learn whatever you
don't know how already and maybe adapt some existing examples to
your needs.
To change the visual state of a movie clip... you just do all
the regular things that you want to do to it using flash... scale,
rotation, drawing API , textfields etc in actionscript. If you
don't know how to how to do that stuff, then you need to learn that
first. That's basic actionscript.
You can capture the visual state of a movieclip using the
BitmapData class. That includes a loaded jpeg. You can also
manipulate bimatp data using the same class. You should read up on
that if you don't know how to use it or check out the examples
below for uploading info.

Can anybody giude me how to Edit .flv movie file in Flash
Professional 8 in MAC.
I can open the .flv file. I can see each frame.
Now when i select some frames from the starting movie &
cut(delete) those frames, I should get the remaining movie.
But i can still see the starting movie frames in my .flv
file.
I don't know how to select particular frames & cut those
frames.
