How to Edit a Uploade Document Locally

Hi,
I had uploade a word document into Portal(KM) and i'am trying it to Edit Locally.When am choosing the option Edit Locally it is giving me an error "Operation Failed"
Please help me ragarding this issue.

Since you posted under iMac PPC forum, which is for iMacs that can't run any operating system newer than August 28, 2009, I can't say specifically what the capabilities of your version of Preview are. Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac. If you have an Intel, you do not have a PPC. If you have a G5, G4 or G3, you posted to the right forum, and just need to find the version of Preview you have in Applications folder.

I received a form in pdf format. I need to fill out some blanks with text and e-mail it back to the sender. I could not figure it out using Preview. Actually I tried the Adobe acrobat reader also and had zero success. Thanks

No, you are wrong. I just tried it 2 minutes ago. Neither Adobe Acrobat 7 nor 8.1 will allow you to save a filled-in PDF form. You cannot preview. You cannot print to PDF. All you can do is Print.
Why do you need to print the filled-in form to a PDF file? You just save it; it's already a PDF file!
Because saving is disabled in Adobe Reader. Usually, if one is using a fill-in PDF form, it is some important document such as a tax form. It is always a good idea to keep an electronic form of such documents. The free Adobe Reader will not allow you to do this.

No, I can save a filled-in form to PDF using Preview. It is no longer editable, but I have an electronic copy of what I entered. That is impossible using Adobe Reader.

Apparently, you must own the full Adobe Acrobat package. That will allow you to do all sorts of things with a PDF.
I think getting to the bottom of what works and what doesn't in a thread titled "How to edit a pdf document then save using Preview" is hardly doing a disservice. I appreciate your giving me the inclination to try a fill-in form using Preview again. I am quite pleased to learn that PDFView and Preview (in Tiger and Leopard) will allow you to enter data into a filled-in PDF form. Somehow I missed that. Often, it is a good idea to go back and re-try something even if you are sure you know the results. Sometimes things change underneath without your knowledge and sometime your knowledge expands to allow you to accomplish what had before been "impossible."
You can sigh all you want. But please, check your facts next time. And a bit more civility would be appreciated too. Sometimes people are wrong. That's life. The purpose of this discussion forum is not strictly to respond to questions without further elaboration. I am not here trying to make myself look smart. How to open with uploaded document

Hi, I need upload my document online and then preview the uploaded document to check if it worked. Unforturnatly, I was unable to open the preview, error massege stated an error occured repeatedly, but I could save it and then open it which is not fit the case of intended party. The document is word doc, with the microsoft word 2004. the ducument was created on MacBook OS X 10.6.8. I am wodering if it is that becasue the microsoft word 2004 is too old for this particular site. (I was ABLE to open the uploaded document in different sites).
If this it the case, how can I get free and relative newer Microsoft Word?

If you are in college, check with your school. Many colleges have an arrangement for faculty and students to purchase Microsoft products at a reduced price, or even free.
Microsoft has limited-duration free trials and there are several alternative to create Microsoft-Office-compatible documents:

I don't know how to edit a html document

I know how to CREATE a html doc using MSWord but don't know how to edit it once it's done. Is there a Firefox add on or plug in that lets one do this? Or is a different program needed.

How do I bulk upload documents using PowerShell and extract metadata from file name?

I have a requirement to upload a bunch of documents into a document library. Based on the content type, the rules of updating the metadata is different...the one giving me trouble is to extract the metadata from the file name. If I have a file name like
"part1_part2_part3.pdf" how do I extract part1, part2, part3 and tag each document being uploaded into SharePoint, using PowerShell? I have searched and have not been able to find anything to get me started.
Has anyone done this before? Or is there a blog I can take a look at? Thanks

You will have to write a PS script encompassing this logic.
Read files from the folder using
Get-Item cmdlet
Determine the content type based on the path or filename.
Split the file name to extract the tag names.
If the metadata fields in the content type is a managed metadata field, check whether the term exists and set it.

How to edit test case document?

In SOLAR02 transaction, we are uploading the test case documents in the test cases tab. 
 
Later we can create test plans & test packages. These test packages once assigned to the tester, it comes in the worklist of the tester. 
 
The tester while testing the test cases, can record the test results from the test workbench using the traffic light symbolled icon. 
 
But, my requirement is to edit the test case document and to give some explanation about what all went right and what all went wrong. 
Is that possible? 
 
Any inputs in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

This depends on your support package level. But at least in one of the latest support packages this was made possible. You need to make a little customizing in transaction STWB_SET. Under "Notes" you must mark "Use test document". This means that in STWB_WORK when you add a note for a specific test case then a copy is made of your test script in which you can then enter results. This is then done without editing the test script template document.
If this customizing is not available then you have to apply the latest solman 7.0 support packages.

Now test plan documents can be opened in STWB_WORK and edited there. Remark is that in creating the test plan (STWB_2), Test note drop down list should have the same value as the test document in Test cases tab (SOLAR02).
Would it be possible also to open test documents (Word, Excel, etc) in STWB_WORK in full screen somehow? That was not yet managed to be done.
Me personally haven't tried it yet, as I have to finish some other jobs first, but I thought it would be nice to share the info

I am trying to edit a PDF file in the Netweaver Developer Studio.
Can anybody tell me how can I import and edit it in the Netweaver Developer Studio?
I am trying to do some editing.Eg. adding action buttons, adding input fields etc to the PDF file.

Thank you for the immediate response.
Now I can import the pdf files and edit them.
However there is a problem.
I can only open the pdf files which I created by the developer studio.
When I open the pdf files those created by a scanner, they appear blank. However, when I open the same files with acrobat reader, the contects in the file appear.
I will be very thankful if you could help me in this.

I saved a brochure as a pages document and now I cannot edit it again. It will open but it seems only to view it. I'm probably doing something wrong but it's quite a serious problem with essays in soon!

Conversion to and from Pages and Word is not perfect. Pages is not a clone of Word.
I interpret your question and reply as follows:
Perhaps you are using Pages to create your documents, then saving them as Word docs because your essays will be read by a teacher or professor who insists on Word.
Plan A.
Use Pages by all means if that is what you prefer. But first save as a Pages document. Keep that for future editing. Then Export to Word and send that as your essay assignment. If you then receive a Word doc from your teacher/professor with comments, don't try to edit that. Simply note down the comments and then revise your Pages document. Save in Pages, then export to Word.
Your Pages documents are yours. The exported Word docs are what you submit to your teacher/professor.
When you become a professor, you can insist that your students all use Pages!
Plan B.
Instead of exporting as Word, export as PDF.

GuidedProcedure - how to move uploaded document into KM?

Hello Anyone,
could you please help me on how to get an uploaded Document into a specific Directory of the KnowledgeManagement?
Currently I am trying to create a Process (Guided Procedure) which lets a User upload a Document (Callable Object->Misc->File Input), create a Folder in the KM, store this uploaded Document into that folder and adapt some folder-rights, configure discussions, etc..
However, I can't find any programs/webdynpros/callableobjects which do these things? Any hints on standard, reusable "components" which may be used as Callable Objects to work with the KnowledgeManagementSystem?

Customize edit form in document library

I have a document library with several content types. There are some columns that I don't want all users to see (or edit) when they edit or upload documents, so I need to change the default edit form. For new documents I've modified the DIP, so that works
fine.
However, if I change the default edit page I lose the option to change content types. I don't mind having a different edit form for each content type (if someone can explain to me how to do it), but on upload they have to be able to choose which content
type to use.
I've currently got a copy of the default edit form where I've changed the <dataformwebpart> to <listformwebpart> so that I get the option to choose content types. But I can't figure out how to change which columns to display for each content
type.. Help?

What do you mean "I don't want all users to see (or edit) when they edit or upload documents"?
Do you mean these columns are automatically populated, which you don't want all users to see in the form page, but show them in library view?
You can consider to hide these columns for each content type from that particular library.

How to clear the open documents in case if document currency and local curr

Hi,
Can anyboday advise how to clear the open document of a particular vendor for a particular company code. Here the issue is that balace is netted to Zero in the document currency but not in the local currency. The document was posted in Currency CAD and the local currency is GBP.
When i check the FBL1N, there is it showing net balance is ZERO, but document is still in open
status. I tried using Transaction code F-44, but it is not allowing me.
Can anyboday advise how to perform this. Points will be awarded.

In the Company code global parameters(OBY6),select the check box "NO FOREX RATE DIFF.WHEN CLEARING IN LC"
and try clearing again.(You can have a F1 help on the check box to see what exactly it is).

The issue we're running into, is that when a user wants to download a document, the user is presented with the choice of opening or saving the downloaded document. That works OK, but what we'd really like to do is offer the user a chance to edit the downloaded document and then by saving the changes (such as by closing the window in which the downloaded document appears, after making edits), the modified document is "re-uploaded" to the database. What we have to do now is save the download document to the user's PC, then the user has to open the document and modify it, save it, and re-upload it to the database.
Any ideas on how we can save the users a few steps and upload the document directly after editing? Thanks.

Then the answer is no. The file needs to be saved down to CS5.5 or exported as IDML from CS6.
