First time using Imovie and for the most part I'm doing relatively well.  I need to know how to stop a rather long audio track at a specific point and begin another that's more appropriate for the video.

never mind. i fixed it.

  • How to edit audit in iMovie 9

    I'm almost loosing it with this version of iMovie. (I was very happy with v6 until it would not import some mp4 files.)
    In v6 editing audio is a breeze, what with the audio tracks being displayed independantly, making it it easy to cut, lower/increase volume etc.
    How do I do the same thing in v9??? I can't find a way to display audio tracks in a similar way.
    It is literally driving me nuts! Searching solutions on the web have not been helpful at all.
    Thank you.

  • How to edit video using iMovie?

    Hi,
    I am new to iMovie. I am not familiar with its key tools. Can any one please tell me how to edit a video using the software? I need to put a video on Youtube displaying features of my website http://www.fundoofun.com
    Thanks in advance.

    Move the video between iPads using Dropbox or an App like Photo Transfer.

  • How to add audio to iMovie on the iphone?

    The speak recorder on the iphone is ok to record audio. But how do I get those recordings into imovie on iphone? Its the latest imovie (2.0?) on iOS7 on iphone 5.
    Thanks for any help
    Erland

    Thanks for looking into this. I am probably unclear here...
    What I hope to do is to get audio recording fra the that speach recorder app that comes with iOS. The recordings can only be exported through mail, messages and dropped with Airdrop.
    Hmm maybe with itunes in some way.
    I would like to use speach recorder and then import that audio into imovie, not the audio effects that are with imovie.

  • How to edit audio without disturbing video

    Hi:
    I have working with FCP 6 on another office Mac and got 7 for my iMac. On the other machine, I could edit audio (cutting, trimming, deleting, etc) without disturbing the video clip tied to it. However, now I cannot. If I highlight the audio track, I also highlight the video track. Any cutting or trimming I doto audio results in a trim or cut of the video.
    How do I make it a default that these two tracks should be treated separately?
    Any help would be really great.
    Thanks.

    This looks like it will work. However, is there anything in settings to, by default, only select the one audio or video track that I want to edit rather than selecting the audio or video tied to it too?
    Thanks

  • How to edit audio settings in CS3

    I don't want to use Adobe Media Encoder. I'm using classic Export>Movie tab. I need to edit audio bitrate, but I can only edit Sample rate which is  in Hz.
    I need it to be 128kbps
    Additional settings cannot be clicked, since I have a small number of encoders.

    Lossless means that no visual information is lost during the compression stage.  The entire visual image can be exactly reconstructed.  Uncompressed is one such method of achieving this.
    I do not use the Xvid codec, so I can't comment on the quality of external encoders.  VideoHelp.com is a very good resource for this kind of thing, however.  I'd do some research over there.

  • Moving edited audio from iMovie to iDVD?

    I'm running iMovie HD 5.0.2 and iDVD 5.0.1. I've been taking some old programs off my Tivo, editing out commercials and burning them to DVD.
    Everything has been running pretty well (though, of course, there are thousands of features of the programs which I'm not using and of which I'm probably unaware), but I recently had a problem that I can't figure out.
    I did search through these discussions and found the answer to a problem I had: I couldn't figure out why several edited twenty-five to thirty second clips created from longer ones (copy and paste), when pasted into iDVD drop zones only played from the beginning of the original seven minute clip. Then, as I said, I found that I needed to Share them in iMovie HD as QT files and then use the Import function of iDVD. This worked fine.
    However, I can't figure out how to do the same thing with audio only. When I edit the audio to a shortened 25-30 second sound clip which I want to drag into iDVD for a menu soundtrack, it takes the entire seven minute long audio track.
    So, if I need to do a Share, how do I extract just the audio. Whenever I try it, it takes the whole thing. Dragging and Dropping does the same.
    Is this even possible in iMovie HD? Can it be used to edit and then save an audio clip as an aiff or mp3 file?
    Would someone know what I'm doing wrong?
    Thank you.

    When you share, select Quicktime, then choose 'expert settings'. Then from that menu choose 'audio only to aiff'.

  • How to remove audio in iMovie

    I've just started using this new version of iMovie. I did pretty well with the older version, but nothing I learned there seems to work with this one. I can't figure out how to manipulate the original audio. I want to only having it playing in parts and have music overlayed. If I can't do that, I would like to completely remove the recorded audio and just have music. Is there a simple way to do this?

    Two quick Videos you should watch.
    1) This one from iMovie 08 covers the basics.
    2) this one shows the new features in iMovie 11. Choose the one that says All New Audio Editing.
    There are two ways to have the audio muted in parts. 1) Select the frames you want to mute (by dragging) so that the yellow border is around them. Then right-click/Split Clip. Then set the Volume slider to zero., using the Audio Tab of the Clip Inspector.
    2) Use the rubber banding as shown in Video #2.

  • How to remove audio from iMovie

    I recorded a video on my Sony camera and now after watching the clip there was something I said on that clip that I do not want the other person to know about it once I burn the clip to a DVD disc.   Is there anyway to do this and how?   If there is may you please provide step by step instructions on how to do it.
    Thank you.

  • How to edit audio file in iTunes, rename file

    I finally figured out how to join mulitple tracks I'd ripped from a CD into one file, but now there's space between each track as it plays. Is there a way for me to edit the spaces out?
    Where do I find the file for the new track? I need to upload it to a website.
    Also, I want to change the name of the now-combined track, which iTunes automatically named "Audio CD." Is there a way for me to do that? Can't find an option for that.
    Appreciate any help.

    Removing dead space once you've made a contiguous file is going to mean chopping it up again, and possibly a loss of quality as you re-encode the audio.
    Try again from the beginning using either MPEG Audio Scissors or Audacity.

  • How to edit audio contents? (sample editing)

    Hi, I have a problem in editing a recorded audio. Can anyone please help me with this one? The scenario is this...
    I get my audio data by reading right from the line using targetdataline read method. Then I store the data in byte arrays. I tried to edit the values of each byte (in the byte array) by converting it to its short value, then alter its value before storing the new value to the source byte address.. Am I doing the right thing in the conversion and editing process?
    My audio configuration is this:
    audio format = PCM_SIGNED
    sample rate = 8000
    sample size in bits = 8
    channels = mono
    big endian = false
    Well, I use this for my cryptographic process in a simple VOIP program. I was having a hard time getting the valid values of the recorded audio stored in the byte array. Can anyone enlighten me with this matter?

    I have a "Recorder Class" that simply gets the audio data from the line. Here's some part of my code on how I get my audio data.
    synchronized public void run() {
            while( !m_bQuitting ) { //m_bquitting is a bolean variable which tells if the recording thread must be stopped
                 byte bs[] = new byte[bytesize];
                    m_line.read( bs , 0 , bytesize );
                 if( m_bRecording ) {
                        byte[] audio = new byte[bs.length];
                        //loop that initializes the temporary byte array to be encrypted
                                    //this simple copies the contents of bs to audio byte array
                        for( int i = 0; i < audio.length && i < bs.length; i++ ){
                             audio[i] = bs;
                        if(rsa != null) {
                             /*encryption*/
                             for(int offset=0; offset < audio.length && offset < bs.length; offset++) {
                                  short sample = (short)(audio[offset] & 0xff); //convert byte to short
                                  short tmp = rsa.code(sample);
                                  audio[offset] = (byte)tmp;
                             /*end of encryption*/
              cs.writebyte( audio );
         }else if( onlyonce ){
              cs.writebyte( ("NT|").getBytes() );
              onlyonce = false;
    m_line.stop();
    m_line.close();
    My simple VOIP works well without the encryption process. My real problem here is how can I open/edit the data that is stored in the byte array. Simple conversion of each byte to its short value doesn't seem to solve my problem. My RSA works well on data structures integer, string, double, float, hex, biginteger and etc. I have read some articles that says that audio samples are stored depending on the size of the sample bits used, and in my case its 8 bits (-128 to 127). My perception here is that if each sample is stored in a byte, then there would be a corresponding hexadecimal value for that byte. Am I right?(Can anyone enlighten me with this one???) My plan here is to encrypt and decrypt the audio data byte per byte so I need to get the audio sample data of a recorded audio.
    PS:
    Sorry for my first post. :)

  • How to Edit Audio Properly

    Hi, I am trying to figure out how to trim /fade my sounds in Flash CS5 but it is a nightmare. So at frame 800 I want to start to fade the sound from 100% to 0% on frame 850, but whatever I try it just get's mucked up. Those little handles just keep duplicating when I try and drag them. Is there any way to delete the points and how do I get the left and right to be identical.
    Also, how do I fade the sound? I mean what is the best way to fade the sound so at frame 800 the sound starts to fade from 100% to 0% on frame 850?

    Instead of beating yourself up trying to edit the sound in Flash, why not use a real audio editor like Audacity:
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
    using your Flash doc frame rate and the time of the audio file, you could determine exactly where to start and end the fade using time in Audacity instead of frames in Flash.
    Very easy and quick!
    Best wishes,

  • How to optimize audio in Imovie w/GarageBand

    Help. I've shot something with a Canon T2 and imported it into Imovie. The picture quality is great but the sound is average. I purchased an H1 Recorder/mic to use as a mic but still the sound is average. I understand that I could use garageband to easily optimize the sound but am unable to bring an imovie sound file into garage band. Is there some way of doing this that I'm not seeing. When I try to import into garageband, the video files are dimmed and unselectable.
    Currently, I'm recording everything (sound and audio) with the camera and importing the whole thing into imovie. Should I make a seperate file with the H1 Handy Recorder and open that up in Garage Band then sync the optimized file with the Imovie File. If so, what sound file format would I need to use to be able to open something up in GarageBand.
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to edit dvd in imovie

    Hi,
    I am trying to transfer old home films to dvd.
    I first have to have them transfered to a mini dv, then they will put it onto a dvd.
    I would like to do basic editting - cut out some scenes, add fade in transitions, some text etc.
    How would I be able to put the dvd into imovie?
    Would imovie work for my project, or do I need a different editting program?
    Thanks so much for any suggestions!
    Diane

    Imovie is setup to work with mini dv cameras. Instead of having someone put it on dvd, why not get the mini dv tape, hook your camera (or one borrowed from a friend) up to your mac, and import the footage into imovie which will do all the editing you mention.
    Then you can burn to a dvd with idvd.
