How to edit citations in Word

Hi everyone!
I am working with word and trying to edit the format from my citation but don't know how to do it.
I am using format IEEE, which means that my citations look like: [1] [2] [3] etc I found out how to manage to get two citations together in brackets: [1,2].
The PROBLEM is that if I have such case: [1, 2, 3, 4],
I would like to get look like this [1-4] but I dont know how to do it...  or even if gets more complicated like this: [1,
6, 7, 8], to get something like this: [1, 6-8].
Does anyone know how I can do it? prob I have to do it directly from the code right? " CITATION AJe13 \l 1031 " but I don't know
either how this code works...
Thank you very much for your help! :-)

how to edit a converted Word Document from a PDF file

    Hi Edit Converted Word Doc,
What's happening when you try to edit the file? Have you tried triple-clicking in the text block that you want to edit?
Please let us know what sort of trouble you're running into. It would also be helpful to know how the PDF file was created, and what version of Word you're using.

  • How To Edit Excel or Word Files Using iPhone?

I am trying to do SIMPLE edits of Excel or Word files...
in my emails I can view them, but not able to edit them...
    -Glenn

Not necessarily. The problem is that the SDK forbids saving data to the iPhone itself. That means, if you write a letter, say, and save it, you can only save it via the internet to either a server (like iDisk) which you can then access on your desktop, or through a program like Google Documents.
Until Apple permits saving files to your iPhone itself for direct sync (which is currently forbidden) you need to use 3rd party workarounds. I have no idea what Dataviz is working on, nor whether it will be approved once they do complete a program, nor how you will have to save data.
WIthout being able to save data for sync directly through your iPhone itself rather than the internet, it really makes editing on the iPhone end of the deal pretty worthless for a lot of is.
I use OmniFocus for my To-Do lists, for example. It does not sync directly with the desktop version, but you have to sync your desktop with the server (in my case iDisk) and the iPhone with the Server -- it keeps both my iPhone and Desktop in sync, but ONLY works because data is stored on iDisk as the "library" so to speak....if I were to be in an area without data access, I would not be able to keep up-to-date to-do lists.

  • How to edit the T9 word suggestion list

    HI all,
I hope someone can help here..  I'm using the N97 with original firmware (no update available yet). When I'm using T9 text input from the dialpad and type 86 which should give 'to' I get 'vo' instead which is not even a word as far as I know, to make matters worse if I press * to get the next word it give 'vo' again, so now each time I type 'to' in a message it take 4 keypresses.
My question is, is there an editable T9 word list file where I can remove this problem? it was not on the N95 which I've used for 2 years so it's really anoying.
    Thanks & regards

    Hi,
I don't know much about T9 on N97. But currently I'm using Nokia 5800xm and not much different compare to N97 (i think).
In 5800xm, I can spell (pesonalize) what ever word I want on the T9 predictive, but I can never delete any suggestion word that I don't want to be listed in it. Nokia 5800xm doesn't have this feature compare to Sonyericsson W810i that I recently used. The T9 prediction feature was great and I don't have to spell all the word I want, it will predict the word out I can choose it right away. I hope Nokia can overcome to this feature.
Better still in 5800xm, it'll list the most frequent used word in the first selection of the word. Saying that, if you use the word "to" frequently, the it will memorize it and you don't have to press the "*" 4 times as before when ever you keypad "8" and "6" simultaneously.
I hope this will help you.

  • How to edit word documents once converted

Can someone please advise how to edit a document I have converted into word from PDF.
    Many thanks

Not sure what you mean. Are you asking how to use WORD? It also depends if you used the layout or the flow conversion process. With the layout, you get a bunch of text boxes. Almost nothing is in the standard flow of WORD. If you use the flow version, you sometimes get some strange sequencing of items. You might try both. If you have a graphic, then you either have to edit the graphic in a graphics package or do OCR in Acrobat before you do the conversion.

  • How to edit text in MS Word HEADER using bookmarks?

I've been using the ActiveX calls to edit text in Word docs for a while. I assumed there was no trick to doing it in the header of a Word doc, but there seems to be no way to get into the header via LabView ActiveX calls.
Regretably, Word also makes this tricky. I found these VBA hints:
    Bookmark, Go to Bookmark:
(This method does not work with bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
    Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToBookmark, Name:="Name"
    Bookmark, Select a Bookmark:
(This method works when using bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
    ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("BookmarkName").Select
Bookmark, Insert Text Using Range (Change Content of Range):
(This method works when using bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
    ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("BookmarkName").Range.Text="Text"
Bookmark, Insert Text Using Range (Add After Range):
(This method works when using bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
    ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("BookmarkName").Range.InsertAfter _
       "Text"
I have been using the first one and I was hoping one of the last three would be simple to implement, but there does not seem to be a way to do any of them via LabView.
I do not have the reports tool kit, but I have seen nothing to indicate that it is possble with that either.
So, is it possible to edit the headed of a MS Word doc?

I'm also not happy about word and LabVIEW and I hope that there will be much more improvement with the open document format... right know I have to use a word document template .
However, here is a code I use to fill bookmarks even in the header. I found that somehow the bookmark vanish after manipulation and you have to add it again.
    Hope that it help ....

  • How to Edit Word Document in Oracle ADF Application - Apache POI

    Hi All
I was wondering if there is a way to edit and save word documents in Oracle ADF without loosing the Formatting.
I was able to edit and save the word document however the Formatting was lost.
Please let me know if there are any pointers or open source Java APIs that we can use to achieve this.

    Refer the Text Formatting section
Apache POI - HWPF - Java API to Handle Microsoft Word Files
HWPF Reads in a Word document with minimum formatting (no lists, tables, footnotes, endnotes, headers, footers)
Apache POI - HWPF - Java API to Handle Microsoft Word Files
The _cbt field in class HWPFDocumentCore contains formatting information.
    HWPFDocumentCore (POI API Documentation)
For more advanced text extraction needs, including Rich Text extraction (such as formatting and styling), along with XML and HTML output, Apache POI works closely with Apache Tika to deliver POI-powered Tika Parsers for all the project supported file formats.

    Use Apache Tikka for formatting.

  • How can I sort the words in a document into an alphabetical list?

How can I sort the words in a document into an alphabetical list? Thanks!

    writer888 wrote:

Copy the words to the Mac's clipboard (Edit menu> Copy)
    Paste into TextEdit
Next open the Edit > Find > Find window in Text Edit.
Highlight a space between two words and Edit menu > copy, paste into the Find field
Next create a return in the middle of your text and copy that and paste into the Replace field
    Click Replace All.
Now Edit > Select All and Edit > Copy
Open a Spreadsheet program with Sort ability and paste into the second column cell from the top
place a "a" into the top column cell, select the entire colum
    Sort desending order
Now if you need it out of spreadsheet format, then your going to need to copy just the data cells (not the entire column to avoid problems) and Paste "Special" as unformatted text into a word processing program
If you need to get rid of the Returns, do the opposite you did in Text Edit, replace the Returns with Spaces
A chore, but it's rare one needs to sort words into alaphabetical order.
FYI, I used TextEdit and the free LibreOffice (Spreadsheet and Word Processing) for the above effects.

  • Can't figure out how to edit a Draft e-mail message--simple, right? Wrong.

OK, sorry if this is too basic and belongs in the Getting Started folder, but I couldn't find the problem here or in that location.
I thought I could figure out how to edit a message in the Drafts folder. I tried; it didn't work. I looked online, found a tutorial, which showed that I was indeed trying to do the right thing the right way. So why doesn't it work????
    Here's what happens.
I start an e-mail message, click Cancel, then save as a Draft. That works fine. But then...
From the Home screen, I tap Mail.
On the Mailboxes screen, I tap Drafts (there's a number on the right -- 2 -- which disagrees with the number of messages actually seen -- 1 -- at the next step; I don't know if that's an important detail or not).
I see the draft message I want to edit. I tap it.
I tap Edit. According to the tutorial, the message is supposed to open up for me to edit further. But it doesn't. Instead...
The two lines representing the message (Recipient and first few words) move a bit to the right, and the Edit button changes to Cancel.
A dull red Delete button and a blue-gray Move button show up at the bottom. But the first line of the draft message, which has (accurately) shown up under the boldface "(No Recipient)" line, stays where it is -- showing as part of an entry in the list but not as something I can edit. I don't see the complete message, and I can't edit anything, even though I think I have just entered an Edit mode.
I click those two lines, and a red checkmark appears on the left, and the dull buttons at the bottom become brighter red and brighter blue-gray.
Tapping, double-tapping, tap-and-holding... all just toggle that checkmark on and off.
THIS MUST BE REALLY SIMPLE... HOW DO I EDIT THE TEXT OF THE DRAFT MESSAGE????

Zero replies??? Wow, I guess this is a really uncommon problem.
Well, the Genius Bar fixed the problem. They confirmed that it WAS real, and they couldn't figure out how it had gotten that way. There must have been some internal list in an inconsistent state... or something.
The fix was to deactivate my MobileMe account on my iPhone -- just wipe it out. Then they re-activated it. Everything re-synched and the problem was gone.

  • How to edit custom and/or user dictionaries in OPPM v.9 (NOT P6)

    Hi All:
Thanx, Sachim for your help on my earlier question.
Now that I have poked around a little more, I realized that I haven't seen anything about how to EDIT the dictionary files once created. The "organizational custom dictionary" text file could just be edited with any text editor, but what about the other available OPPM dictionaries?
I've also noticed that if a User adds a word, it goes into his/her personal dictionary. That means that its not available to other Users. How does one clean them up of accidentally (or unintentionally) added mis-spelled words? Every other application I've ever used with a spell checker has that function somewhere, but I can't see it in OPPM. It would be great to be able, as an Administrator, to be able to "harvest" those added words, to share with the other users.
Anyone have any info on these issues? Thanx in advance.

if you are using 12.1.3/4 then you can do using "Define Parameter" screen to create LOV and attach to integrator.

  • How to edit linked text in an Indesign long document without it effecting the whole document

I want to work out how to edit text in indesign without the rest scrolling
I have a large 200 page book.  The text was supplied in Word and I have placed the whole document automatically and now I am going through each page doing my magic with pics, stylesheets etc.
When the client comes back with edits, I am concerned that deleted or adding in text will scroll the text to the next chapter, etc etc.  This will be a nightmare.  Not sure how to unlink say 5 pages or so that are in each chapter so I can edit easily without the whole document being effected.
Apologies I am probably not explaining myself all that well.

    lisalip wrote:
    john the link is broken
I can see there are scripts but I don't want each page separate rather each chapter (each chapter can go for 2 or 7 pages)
I am only 35 pages or so into the book and if I have to I can re place the text with some work, ie start again with the text pages.
seems sily though that I cannot split the threaded stories a few pages at a time.
    The link is now fixed.
You can split the threaded story into separate stories anywhere in the thread. At the chapter breaks seems logical. There are many users who'll assert all sorts of right/wrong at you when it comes to threading text. For my purposes, I set up long documents much the way you propose; threading articles, stories, or chapters discreetly; rarely would I ever thread an entire long document as one. It's a preference, not a rule. Each way has benefits and pitfalls.

  • I exported a pages document to word, but was not able to edit the new word document.

i exported a pages document to word, but was not able to edit the new word document.

I have a OSX IMAC Version 10.8.5.  I got pages at the same time I purchased this computer.  I use a document to write all my passwords. Seems like when I E-mail myself the document from pages, I have not been able to type in the document, it acts like it is locked. I checked all the "lock" and "unlock" fields, and none of them were locked.  I notice the document says PDF.  How do I correct this?  Seems like I've tried everything.  If you can help, that would be great!

  • How to edit xml link?

First a few words about my context:

In CS4 when I want to manually edit the xml link, the opened dialog prevent me (xml files are in gray) to select xml files, is it a well-known issue? How can I avoid it?

  • How to edit XML parsed data and save on iPhone app

    Hi,
How to edit and XML retrieved data that is displayed on an iPhone app and save again in the same XML file using iPhone SDK.
In other words I want to change the XML file data or edit and save.
    Thnx in advance.
    Regards
    Amit

    Hello amit,
No, not at all. Surely you will parse your XML file using the NSXMLParser class. OK! i think i get it now, do you wants to change/modify the value of any tag in the XML file? For that you will be required to parse your XML file using NSXMLParser class, and fill out some data structure (according to the the XML format) do some changes into your data structure, and then write your XML to the file (according to the edited data structure) using the method i told u earlier. This is what my preferred method is, and i am pretty much sure that it is not a bad way to do this at all.
Hope this clarifies some of your queries.
    Best regards,
    Obaid
