How to edit content in sample.portal

I am a newbie at Weblogic Workshop 8.1. I am trying to edit the content (in Portal
Administration) of the sample.portal. I use the weblogic user (which I suppose
has all the rights and privileges needed). I cannot see any content to be edited
at all. Is the sampleportal protected in someway ? I have created my own administrator
account with the the rights needed, but still no result ...

How to Edit document names in iBook

Some documents that I import to iBook have names that are meaningless to me, e.g. Qymmbf-Nz.pdf. How can I edit them to something I can relate to?

Also, there is no Devices section until I connect my iPad.
I have found a work-around. I connected my iPad, re-downloaded the Documents in question from the web (all PDFs) renamed them to my liking, deleted the documents in my iTunes-Devices-iPad list, dragged the renamed documents into the that same window and they immediately synced with the iPad. All is well. But surely this should not have to be the procedure.

How to find document for WebSphere Portal Server and OIM Integration?

I have used wwsec_api.person_info to get the user details and i am able to display in the html format. now i want to edit the values like address, phone number, emp no, date of birth an so on. it is required to use wwsec_api.modify_portal_user. the question is how to use this perticular procedure?

Since the data you want to access resides in OID, you should be using OID APIs to modify them.

How to edit an online order that I placed using guest check out

I stupidly hit guest check out when placing an online order, and despite using an email address that was registered to my apple account the order is not associated with my account. So now there is a problem with the payment because my bank asked me to confirm such a large transaction, and apple wants me to update the payment info which immediately takes me to an apple account log in screen which since I used guest check out logging in just brings me to a screen that says this account doesn't have access to this order. So I can't edit the order that apple is requesting me to order because I used guest check out. I don't want to cancel the order because it will delay receiving my phone by nearly a month!!! AAAAGGGHHH!!! Any suggestions??

Try calling the phone number in guest checkout in this article. I'd expect a delay.

Editing office documents online after Integrating them from Windows

Hello all,
After following these instructions http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/ed/b334ea02a2704388d1d2fc3e4298ad/content.htm to integrate our windows system into the portal, I'd like users to have the ability to edit documents online. I've seen it happen in other situation in BI where the portal is calling "Office Web Components" right inside your IE session, so users don't have to download/upload etc.. And then after editing your spreadsheet/document you're just hitting the save button.
Is there such possibility? Is it only possible with manual developing..?

Dont get confused with local and online editing.
The link I sent has both informations, but the information that you need for your usecase is only Online Editing.
OnlineEditing: Is done Online in the portal. You can edit documents with the MIME type text/* directly in the portal (online).
Local Editing: You edit locally on the client PC.
So all the activeX things are only for Local Editing, which is not relavent for your usec case.
So the only option for you is to do custom development to implement OnlineEditing for office documents.

Seeking a document management and file sharing solution for an online client portal

Late last year our developers created a Member’s Portal for a client’s website (built with WordPress) enabling Members to have a secure area for a discussion forum and crucially, secure
document storage and access, and file-sharing. The WordPress plugin chosen for the Portal was WP-Client.
We have a problem though and I wonder if you or anyone can help?
Basically, the solution was supposed to be like Dropbox or Google Drive but within the Portal but with slight differences. The problem is that the current solution we have isn’t like either
and has various flaws which make it unpopular with most members. It uses free software called kcfinder – see
http://kcfinder.sunhater.com/ as the basis for the file management systems.
So we are seeking to change the file management system. This system must do the following:
It’s got to be intuitive e.g. the action open or download must be ‘typical’ (it is not so in kcfinder you have to right click to download for instance
You must be able open an Office document (especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint) online in situ within the portal. Currently in kcfinder you have to download it.
You must be able to edit it online. Currently you have to download it, open it, edit it, re-upload it and overwrite it.
The client uses Sharepoint (I think that’s part of MS Office 365) and wants to be able to I think drag docs from there straight into the Portal file management system (I think at the moment they have to download a file from Sharepoint to their hard drive
and then upload to kcfinder.
We are currently investigating using a WP plugin for Google Drive

However having loaded the plugin, the developer has found that two issues remain that so far defeat us:
Firstly, and this seems to be applicable to using Google Drive outside the portal as well as in it - you can’t edit Word docs online in Google Drive without creating a Google Doc. This means we get duplicate docs which we don’t want – and they’re in
the wrong format. We want Word and no duplication. The members/users don’t have time to delete and change the format back to Word. I guess the same applies to other Office docs.
Second, apparently you can’t create a new folder in Google Drive in the portal.
So my question for this forum is really what can you suggest, either as a fix to the Google Drive solution or is there a totally different plugin or set up we can use? Ideally it should
be Office-based or friendly since most of our users use Microsoft Office.
The other proviso is that it must be affordable. We/client cannot afford the $10 per user per month that some systems charge. The attractiveness of the Google option is not only the wide
use of Google Docs (notwithstanding the fact that you can't open Word in GD instead it creates a duplicate in GD) but the fact that the plugin is cheap.

Tap the PDF document that is displayed in your web browser. This makes the toolbar appear.

How to edit linked text in an Indesign long document without it effecting the whole document

I want to work out how to edit text in indesign without the rest scrolling
I have a large 200 page book. The text was supplied in Word and I have placed the whole document automatically and now I am going through each page doing my magic with pics, stylesheets etc.
When the client comes back with edits, I am concerned that deleted or adding in text will scroll the text to the next chapter, etc etc. This will be a nightmare. Not sure how to unlink say 5 pages or so that are in each chapter so I can edit easily without the whole document being effected.
Apologies I am probably not explaining myself all that well.

You can split the threaded story into separate stories anywhere in the thread. At the chapter breaks seems logical. There are many users who'll assert all sorts of right/wrong at you when it comes to threading text. For my purposes, I set up long documents much the way you propose; threading articles, stories, or chapters discreetly; rarely would I ever thread an entire long document as one. It's a preference, not a rule. Each way has benefits and pitfalls.

If you want to share a document with all portal users, the best way is to put it on the Public Documents. For this, go to Content Administration > KM Content > root > documents > Public Documents then select Folder > New > Upload.
You can also create a public room, and put your documents there. By this way, documents will be accessible by all portal users. Hope this will be helpful for you.

Since you posted under iMac PPC forum, which is for iMacs that can't run any operating system newer than August 28, 2009, I can't say specifically what the capabilities of your version of Preview are. Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac. If you have an Intel, you do not have a PPC. If you have a G5, G4 or G3, you posted to the right forum, and just need to find the version of Preview you have in Applications folder.

Why do you need to print the filled-in form to a PDF file? You just save it; it's already a PDF file!

Apparently, you must own the full Adobe Acrobat package. That will allow you to do all sorts of things with a PDF.
I think getting to the bottom of what works and what doesn't in a thread titled "How to edit a pdf document then save using Preview" is hardly doing a disservice. I appreciate your giving me the inclination to try a fill-in form using Preview again. I am quite pleased to learn that PDFView and Preview (in Tiger and Leopard) will allow you to enter data into a filled-in PDF form. Somehow I missed that. Often, it is a good idea to go back and re-try something even if you are sure you know the results. Sometimes things change underneath without your knowledge and sometime your knowledge expands to allow you to accomplish what had before been "impossible."
You can sigh all you want. But please, check your facts next time. And a bit more civility would be appreciated too. Sometimes people are wrong. That's life. The purpose of this discussion forum is not strictly to respond to questions without further elaboration. I am not here trying to make myself look smart. I am here because sometimes the questions posed are interesting and make me think. I often learn something new while trying to help someone else. That is exactly what happened in this thread.
