How to edit image mask in Gallery widget

When I place an image into the Gallery widget the image receives a mask.
I am trying to edit this mask, but it doens't do any thing. I only can move the image inside of the mask, I can't edit the size of the mask.
Does anyone know how this is be done in iBooks Author (I know this feature from other Apple software like Pages or iWeb).
Or does anyone have the same problem?
Thanks

  • How to edit a mask in numbers 3.1

In the previous Numbers you could mask a photo with the choice of several shapes, then choose "make editable" to rearrange the points to create the final shape needed.  In the new Numbers, make editable is greyed out and the points all move together.  Any idea of how to select individual points to create a custom shape?

    Insert an image.
    Select it
On the menu, choose Format/Image/Mask with Shape and choose which shape to use
The shape will have black squares around it that can be dragged around to adjust the shape. You can rotate it using the Format sidebar.
You can use the controls Wayne showed and can drag the image around to adjust the image within the shape.
If you want to edit it again later, double click on it. I notice a bug where the outline of the shape does not appear when I try to edit it. With the shape selected (the black squares), I turn on borders then turn it back off and the shape appears so you can see what you are doing.
Here I masked with a polygon then squished the polygon a little:

  • How do you resize the Picture Gallery Widget? (below 279 pt)

The Picture Gallery widget works very nicely on a book, but it's way too big for my book design. I want a smaller image in the corner of the book. Something you tap on to open the picture gallery.
I can get rid of the title, the caption and the background and shrink the widget a bit, but then you go to the "metrics" section in the Inspector, and the widget will not go below a certain width or height (a potential disaster for the overall design of your book).
Bookry's widgets will not cut it either. What is the option then? Do I need to hand-code my own picture gallery widget? Good Lord..

The arrows don't show up on the iPad, they are only to aid navigation within iBA. You can use boxes in the background to frame your galleries (as the background is off). I believe it's also possible to change the colour of the dots beneath the gallery too, although I forget how to do that right now.
About Apple's rigid UX – I agree that it can be frustrating. Apple intended iBA to be used by everyone, and the sort of design options and customisability we might want may confuse the less experienced user. Apple also wanted the UI for every book to be the same – from the point of view of the new user, once you've used one iBA ebook (or iBook, I'm not sure what Apple want us to call it), you can use them all. Otherwise end users would to get used to a slightly different UI on each book, which kind of works against the idea that ideally UI should be intuitive enough to be invisible. I can see the point in that. I have created a 'How to use' section in every iBA file I've made. It get's old quickly.
Oh, and (you probably know this, but…) you can choose your own custom icon for audio. It's limited, as it's only a placeholder image that allows you to play an audio file, there's no ability to pause the audio or stop it once you choose the view as thumbnail choice. Something I'd like to see changed.
Here's a link to Apple feedback page for iBA. Feel free to hammer it with your suggestions.

    Hi Mike
Select the trigger and go to options ( little blue circle ) , in Editing enable "Show Lightbox parts while editing" and "Show All in Design Mode".
As if both options are enabled then you can see the content and then modify it.

  • Adobe muse - how to upload images in photo gallery in the admin console?

Question from Adobe Muse beginner - I can't figure out how images can be uploaded in a slideshow/photo gallery in the admin console? I can edit or delete images but not upload additional images?

    Hi,
May I know which admin console are you talking about.
You are talking about Business Catalyst or Adobe Muse?
Please provide the steps to access the admin console via Muse.

  • How to edit graphic in muse menu widget

I want to change the muse menu widget from the grey rectangle to a custom graphic. I have tried making the button see through by removing  the ill color and pasting the graphic into the background. This only affects the first button.
Is there a way to affect this change to each automatically generated navigational button?

You need a tick in edit all together and then look at the states panel… odds are you have a different format for one of the states.
Example of a normal manu bar = Map | Tafe nsw
Example of a manu bar with image background = http://chec-garry3.businesscatalyst.com/Muse_testing.html
You can then adjust the states to fit your design… best to have at least some difference between them so people know what to press but that’s up to you.

  • How to display image info in Gallery?

Forgive me if this is an elementary question but I'm a
Javascript newbie. I want to display the name of each image as it
appears in the Gallery demo, having first entered it in the XML
file. At the moment I'm just trying to display the path as a test.
    I add the following:
    <div spry:region="dsPhotos">{@path}</div>
and it displays the filename of the first file but fails to
update after that. Thinking that I should start by identifying the
    current row I try:
    <div
    spry:region="dsPhotos">{dsPhotos.getCurrentRow();}</div>
which just gives 'undefined'. Clearly I'm missing some basic
    concept.
    Thanks for your help
    - Jon

    Hi Jon,
adding this to my test web worked just fine:
    <div spry:detailregion="dsPhotos"> <p
    align="center">{@path}</div>
It updates nicely when I change picture. It works fine as
long as the path is entered in the photos.xml file.
Test it yourself and compare with
    http://spry.touam.se if you like.

  • Would appreciate details on how to edit image data

This question is closely related to the one in the "                                       Cos level APIs to extract image data " thread.
A proprietary program upon which I have no control generates images like this:

I have found the CosObj location where the images are stored:

That's all I have so far.

    > The pictures you posted don't really tell us anything.
I have 3 more data points.
    (a) The mysterious application that generates my PDF files is actually Adobe's own virtual printer. When they are done with their design (inside a 3rd. party engineering software), my users select "Print" and then "Adobe PDF".

  • How to edit images on local drive and then archive to external?

I have a Drobo that I use to archive my permanent lightroom archive and image files. Currently, everything lightroom resides on this external drive. But the Drobo is no where near as fast as my internal hard drive as far as read/write and seek speed. I was wondering if there is a fairly easy way for me to work with my most recent import of images off of my internal hard drive and then "move" the images to the drobo once my post-processing is complete. I'm thinking storing the catalog on my internal drive would make sense as well and then use lightroom's built in catalog backup feature to backup the catalog file to the external drive. Any suggestions for those of you out there using Drobos or other large external storage devices on some type of "best practice" would be great. I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere in the forum; I searched but I couldn't find anything.

You can do exactly that, I do it all the times. Import your photos to an internal drive, work on them, and once you're done with the major work, move the photos or folder(s) from within LR to your drobo. LR will keep track of where your photos are if you move them from within LR.
I even sometimes move an image to a tomporary directory on a local drive from my NAS storage before opening it in PSE, since the building of a large TIFF takes forever on my NAS. I then move it back after finishing my work.

I think that's a good way of handling it.
Please also be aware of the fact that the most important performance topics are access times to
    Catalog
    Previews
    ACR cache (!!)
Access time to the raw file itself is actually not the most important issue.

  • IBooks Author: How do you get the inset margins applied to the caption text of gallery widgets to preview correctly?

Currently the inset margins I set for caption text in the gallery widget reset to zero when previewed on different iPads. BUT the inset margins preview correctly if the gallery caption is set to "same caption for all images" in the gallery widget interaction panel. How does one fix this in iBooks Author? • Edit the tag of a widget

Is there someone out there who knows how to edit the tag of a widget?
Apparently there was a description in the release notes of ver 2.0.E.2
on how to do this. The only problem is that I don't have this any more.
According to tn 10585, this is a possible way of getting around the
implementation exception where "more than one widget has the same tag
during the merge". I would really like to hear from someone who had
    success at fixing this.

  • How do I save an edited image back to my iPhoto gallery?

How do I save an edited image from Elements back into my iPhoto gallery?

    You have two options:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor, send the photo from iphoto, work on it in PSE and save it without changing the name or format (you don't want to see the Save As window) and iphoto will remember your original + last saved version, although you'll have to lose the edits to see the original again. This doesn't work for raw files and you will probably need to set the Editor preferences>saving files>on first save to save over existing to get it to work for other formats.
    2. Export the photo to the desktop, use file>open in PSE, make all the changes you want, save the file in any format with any name you like, then import the edited photo to iphoto as a new file.

  • Lumia 1020 Gallery Widget - How to Delete Sample P...

I've got the Nokia photo gallery widget pinned to the home screen of my phone.  When the Black update installed, new sample photos were also installed and these sample photos show up on the gallery widget in the image preview.  I was able to delete some of these photos from within the Nokia Camera app but some are still showing up in the widget on the home screen.  I'm unable to find these photos on the phone so am unable to delete them.  I don't want these sample images on the phone.  How can I delete these sample images?
Second question is in regard to the ordering of images in the gallery app.  I have the images named in the following manner: Image01, Image02, Image03.... I did this so that when the images were transferred to another device, they would show up in the proper order in the gallery and so that when they were shown to people, they would show in the proper order.  When I transfer the images to any of my Android devices, they are properly ordered in any of the gallery apps I use.  When transferring the images to my Windows Phone, they are not properly ordered.  They show up in some random order that I'm unable to figure out.  Perhaps it's date-based and based on the date the images were captured in the image EXIF, I'm not sure.  Is there any way to get the images to appear in the proper, image name-based order?
    Thank you.

@ceroberts75 - If so, that's both unfortunate and completely inconsistent with computing convention. And very bad programming.
    @farby - It's been 4 days.
I did find a solution to the home screen tile problem. Going into the gallery, pressing ... and choosing Shuffle background seems to get rid of the sample photos and uses my onw pictures that are stored on the phone.
    Thanks.

I found this article that shows the folder we are looking for is here --
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iBooksX/Data/Documents/AEAnnotation/
    per http://mjtsai.com/blog/2013/11/06/the-problem-with-ibooks/ and http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/beyond-highlighting-how-to-get-the-most- from-your-annotations--cms-20013
So I opened the files in TextWrangler to search for a word I know I highlighted in a particular book.  That helped me identify the correct file for the book I am concerned with.  I did a Time Machine restore of the file and got my notes back the way they were.
