How to edit Theme Backgrounds in Keynote?

Stuck with a little conundrum:
I'm trying to edit the background of the Crayon Line theme (but it is the same for other themes) - More specifically I'm trying to move the actual black and red horizontal crayon line. The problem I have is that I haven't found a way to select it.
It is not part of the actual background image, because the line stays after you change the background 'image fill' (inspector > slide > appearance > background) to none.
Any ideas?

Go to the View Menu and then Show Master slides. Then one the master slide you can delete, move or change the line. You will have to do it for every master that you use.

How do I edit the color of the red background in the Informal Newsletter template? I've been able to edit sections within but the background red section appears to remain locked. Any help is much appreciated!

You are in Pages '09, always useful to know.
Click on the red background > Menu > Arrange > Unlock
It is an image fill, you will have to replace the image with something else.

• How to change texture backgrounds in Keynote text box

I want to know if its possible to change the texture background image of a text box, keeping the background textured but in a different color.
Sequence:
Create a text box
Add text
In the inspector select "image fill"
The result is a textured background in a particular color.
Thinking I might be able to replace the image with another textured image but of a different color I click on "Choose" and a dialog opens that is located at the "pictures" folder in the home folder.
This makes sense but I wonder if there is a group of textured images somewhere to use as backgrounds?
And if so where are they located?
I've searched around and can't find same.
Perhaps the textured background is unique to the theme.
Thanks

Most of the textures are unique to the theme BUT try this:
1. Put a chart on your slide
2. Click on the Chart Colors button in the Chart Inspector
3. See if any of the chart options match what you're looking for and hit Apply All in the chart colors window
4. Click once on one of the bars in the chart to select it
5. Choose Copy Style from the format menu
6. Click on your text box and choose Paste Style from the format menu
7. Go to the Graphic Inspector and change the fill type from Image Fill to Tinted Image fill
8. Play around with the color/transparency settings for the Tinted image function by clicking on the box that looks like it's sliced in half diagonally.
no idea if that's what you're looking for, but you can come up with some fun fills I think.

• How to edit asp tag in CS5

Greetings,
Sorry, very new to asp.
I'm trying to edit the asp tags seen under the ASP:DataList section.
Not only can I not seem to open the tags, but when I view the page source on the web, I see what must be the text from the asp tags.
When I view the page source in Firefox firebug, I see a section having to do with aspnetForm. Is there a way to edit this aspnet form appart from dreamweaver?

Hi Murray,
Thanks for your help...Here's my challenge please go to the page http://www.dli.com/executives.aspx
There is text under Erik that says '15 plus' that needs to be changed to 20.
But the site is aspx files and I'm not sure where to go to access this text.
In the executives.aspx file, the above mentioned text (15 plus) is not find-able. In this file, it appears that the text would live here

<uc1:ExecutiveControl ID="ExecutiveControl1" runat="server" />

but I'm not sure what this is referring to or how one would use it to edit said text.
The above .aspx file refers to a source page...
<%@ Register src="controls/ExecutiveControl.ascx"...%>
In the ExecutiveControl.ascx file, see asp tags, but don't see how to edit them
I have both of these files mentioned above, but don't know how to access the needed text.
Much Thanks!

• Editing theme pages

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to edit theme pages.
t's hard to explain.. take a look at my blog,
http://web.mac.com/sharonabaja
the far left side has a light orange stripe down the side. I can't find anywhere how to select it to either delete it or change color.
Also, what I want to do with photos, is like on blogspot. You put in your photos, they display small until you click on them and then they will view large.
http://sharonabaja.blogspot.com/
I started this blog on blogspot, but now I am moving it to mac. com.
Any ideas?
thanks, Sharona

Blog template can display images in Blog Summary and Blog Entry.
Images in blog entry can be hyperlinked to larger images, like here.
http://test.cyclosaurus.com/Blog/Blog/Entries/2008/6/29Travels_through_theeast.html
Images in blog summary can not be linked in iweb, but this can be done. Blog summary widget has to be redefined with javascript and add to blog summary page with HTML Snippet:
http://test.cyclosaurus.com/Blog/Blog/Blog.html
click on the flowers picture.

• Looking inside of DNG Camera Profiles and editing them

For those interested in the insides of DNG Camera profiles, and how to edit them, I've written dcpTool.
dcpTool is a compiler/decompiler for DNG camera profiles (.dcp files). dcpTool can decompile binary format DCP files into an XML format for editing with a text editor or whatever, and then compile the XML format file back into a binary DCP file, as well as extract embedded profiles from DNG files. It runs on Windows and OS X command lines, and is based on V1.2 of the DNG SDK.
See here: http://dcptool.sourceforge.net/
Health warning: dcpTool is a command line utility - if you're not comfortable with command line stuff, dcpTool probably won't be of any interest to you.

Very cool, thanks for the info.

Hi
Is there anyway to edit themes (background colors for example) for books?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, you can't change the background color of pages with iPhoto 5. That option was introduced with iPhoto 7 in iLife 08.

• How to edit #TEMPLATE_CSS# of a theme in APEX 4.2?

Dear Experts,
How to edit #TEMPLATE_CSS# of a theme in APEX 4.2?
Best Regards
Mahmoud

Mahmoud_Rabie wrote:
Dear Paul,
To be more specific, I have the following

in my page template.
As I know, #TEMPLATE_CSS# is substituted by content of the above file. No, it is not.
As described above, #TEMPLATE_CSS# is replaced by the contents of the template's File URLs and Inline CSS properties. This feature enables template-level customization of the CSS included in the page. Try it: change #TEMPLATE_CSS# in the template to:

#TEMPLATE_CSS#
Now add a style to the Inline CSS property:
body { background: black !important; }Run the page. View the page source in the browser and see what's happened to #TEMPLATE_CSS#...
The question is, can I (through APEX 4.2) update this content directly to do tasks like adding or updating classes of the CSS?
Not in the way you mean.
File URLs and Inline are empty (by default) and ready to be used to totally replace the content of #TEMPLATE_CSS#Yes, #TEMPLATE_CSS# is replaced by the contents of the File URLs and Inline template properties. This does not affect the inclusion of any other CSS information, whether using new CSS substitution strings, <link rel="stylesheet" ...> elements, or embedded <style> declarations.
Is the only solution to update/edit the CSS of a theme, to download the CSS then paste it in Inline field (under CSS section of the template)? No. If you want a custom theme the best way is:
1. Copy the theme CSS to an accessible location in the file system (the best way) or APEX repository (if you don't have file system access).
2. Create a new theme as a copy in APEX.
3. Change the <link rel="stylesheet" ...> theme references in the new theme page templates to point to the new CSS location.
4. Customize the CSS (tools like Coda that allow local and remote files to be modified are very helpful).

• How do I extract a theme background and set it as the desktop background?

Hi
I want to have the industrial theme background as the desktop background.
I have tried unpacking the keynote application but end up with Industrial_1920x1080.kth
How do I convert a kth file into a recognisable graphics file?
Thanks
AJ

If you mean that you want to use the Moroccan background in Pages, yes the same principle applies. the Keynote "package" is simply the Keynote application -- Control-Click on the Keynote icon in the Finder, then choose "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up menu. In the new Finder window that appears, follow the directions as outlined above. Be careful not to move or delete any files in the package.

• Editing iDVD 6 Theme Background

Hello,
I'm in the process of updating my promotional DVD with the iDVD 6 'Reflection' themes. All I want to do, is edit the background that comes with the theme (instead of creating a new one), so it includes my logo. I've found the themes in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD 6 folder, but can't open the files in Photoshop or Illustrator to edit, save, and use it as a custom background. Has anyone tried doing this? Can anyone give me a suggestion?
Thanks in advance!

Hello - I do not have iDVD 6 however I do have iDVD 5 and have a solution for that version you can try on the new one.
You need to find the iDVD program in your Applications folder, and then Control-click on it. When the popup menu appears, choose Show Package Contents.
You will then have a Contents folder. Insode this Contents folder you will find a Resources folder, and inside this folder you will find files for each of the themes. Again Control-click on the name of the theme you want to modify, and this will open the "guts" of each theme. You will then find various image files which you can then open and modify in Photoshop for your custom needs. Then just copy your modified file back into the theme file.
You might want to make a backup copy of the original unmodified file for future use. Also, this method also works to view the "guts" of Keynote themes. It will probably work on other applications as well.
Good luck.

• How do I get the codec for .mov files recorded on an ipad, so I can edit them in premiere El. 12?

I have .mov files recorded from an ipad with these specs:
AAC, Mono, 44.100 KHZ
H.264 320x568 (yes the ipad was used vertically, not horizontally)
29.96 fps
I want to edit them in premiere 12, but get this error message:
This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed.
What are my options? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.
As for orientation, there is a rotation feature in Premiere Elements 12....at the Timeline level, you can right click the clip and select Rotate 90 Left or Rotate 90 Right. So that may help.
This is what you may want to try and see what this looks like
1. Open Premiere Elements 12 to its Expert workspace
2. Go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
3. In the Change Settings dialog, change the project preset to NTSC DV Widescreen.
4. Before you exit that area, in the last dialog that you see (new project dialog), make sure you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on this Project".
5. Back in the Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders/ to bring your video into Project Assets from where you will drag it to Video Track 1. We can talk about edits if necessary.
6. Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset set for NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
7. Place your DVD 4.7 GB/120 min disc in the burner, in the burn dialog, have a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space". Hit Burn.
If you decide to take the Timeline to YouTube instead,
Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube, using Presets = Flash Video for YouTube (Widescreen)
Hit Next and follow the instructions.
(Upload to YouTube from within Premiere Elements 12 has limits of 2 GB and 15 minutes. Anything exceeding that, you need to export to file saved to the computer hard drive and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site where you might be able to get extended limits.
Please let us know if you are OK with the above information.
Thanks.
ATR
Add On...If you want to "decorate" the black borders in the Timeline content, drag the video to Video Track 2 and put a colored background on Video Track 1 directly below the Video Track 2 content.
