Move the video between iPads using Dropbox or an App like Photo Transfer.

  • Archiving Digital Video Using iMovie

Simple question. I just want to save digital video from my digital camera to an external hard drive for archival purposes. I want to be able to access the video in the future without being locked in to any specific application. When I "import" my video using iMovie 4 it saves the video in a "project" as a .mov file. I believe .mov is a proprietary Apple format. I'd rather save the files as MPEG 4 files. Make sense? But I don't see any "save as" function in iMovie 4, or iMovie 8 for that matter. Advice? J

With proper storage tape will probably outlast any hard drive. It's cheap so you could make more than one back up.
Magnetic tape has been used for nearly 80 years. Most of those originals still perform but finding the playback devices is more difficult.
Your 150 GB drive will store about ten hours of video in its "source" (.dv) format.

  • Grabbing still shots from video using iMovie

Is it possible to grab stills from the iPod videos using iMovie?

I'm not familiar with that software, but I imagine it would be fine (depending on your needs).
For most people, it doesn't really matter which software you use on your computer. They'll all do basically the same thing.
You could also use Google's Picasa 3 software for PC. If you import and playback a video, you have an easy solution to pause, select a frame you like, and click a convenient "Take a Snapshot" button.
If you don't even want to use third party software, you could cheat (again), and just use Alt+PrtSc to copy an active window into your clipboard, then open paint, paste the captured image, use select/crop to remove the window border, and save. It's a quick, cheesy way to make an image file of just about anything. If you want to reuse this video still in another video somewhere, this of course would not be a good solution.
Go with Picasa (which is FREE), or probably your software as well.

  • How do I integrate music and video using iMovie?

I need a little help trying to accomplish the following using iMovie:
I want to record music and a short movie with my built-in iSight camera and mic.
Step 1: I want to record a song directly from iTunes (not through the microphone).
Step 2: I want to generate a video in which a person would sing (voiceover) the music recorded in step 1.
My difficulty (confusion) is that it appears I can only add music only AFTER the video has been recorded. This won't accomplish my goal - because I want the video to be recorded after the music has been laid down.
I am sure there is a way to do what I want. Would someone please give me a little direction? Thank you. Dale

    1) With the music playing on iTunes in the background, record your video using the iSight camera.
    2) Open the media browser in iMovie and drag in the music track that you want. Drag it and drop it to the first clip. You can "fine tune" the starting point later.
    3) Use the audio settings of iMovie to set the audio for the video track to zero. You will only be able to hear the iTunes track.
    4) Drag the blue box (green box?) that represents the iTunes track and drag it forward or backward until you synch up with the video.

  • Import Edited Video Into iMovie 8.0.5

I have an edited movie that I created on a previous version of iMovie. I saved the movie to mini DV tape. I want to import the movie in its edited version to iMovie 8.0.5. When I import it, it puts the clips out of order, esp transitions and titles. It seems that there must be some timecode in the DV somewhere that iMovie 8.0.5 is using to reorder the fully edited video. The question is then: How do you import a fully edited movie into iMovie without it reordering it into clips. If there is no option to import the clip, then I will have to re-edit the entire movie -- a true waste of time. Please help. Robert.

Hello, Robert, and Welcome to the Discussions,
iMovie 9 (v 8.x) cannot import an earlier version of iMovie and keep its edits. You will get the clips, edited clips, photos, but no effects or titles, and all the transitions will be converted to cross-dissolves.
If you still have the previous iMovie version used to create that movie, you can export it as Quick Time Full Quality and import that QT movie into iMovie 09.

  • Cant edit video in iMovie because of format....

I have not been able to edit video from a band performance that was this past weekend. It works fine on my Moms computer, which is running Windows Vista, but I can't play it on my Mac. The video files are in .MOD, but I do not know how to convert it over to edit the performance. Is there any way that I can convert it, such as a program I can run it through? Any help would be appreciated
    Rance

Before converting the movie try this:
    1) Create a root folder called Mp_Root on an external drive, USB stick, SD card... (probably works with a disk image as well, though I haven't tried it)
    2) Inside this folder create another folder called 101PNV01
    3) Copy your .mod files inside the 101PNV01 folder and change the extensions to .mpg
    4) Restart iMovie. It will now detect the external drive as a camera and allow to import all the clips using the date created/modified info as timestamps for perfect cataloguing.
iMovie does NOT re-encode the movie files, you retain full quality. It simply puts them in a .mov container and creates the thumbnails.

I'd like to import my camera video to a hard drive attached to a Mac Pro. Has anyone been successful doing this? Please help?

If you use iMovie, you need to import it into iMovie.
What storage does your camera have? SD card? That's easy: plug it into Mac and then drag the footage from the SD card to the external drive.

  • How to embedd video using adobe 9 pro, and making it compatible to earlier versions?

Many companies lag in updating the latest version of adobe reader for their field employees. I am dealing with a company now that has field computer with version Adobe reader 6.
    Using adobe 9.3 Professional.
How can I embed a video (video format - mpeg, wmp, mov, etccc)  into the document and be able to run this adobe file in reader 6 or above and it be able to run.
I would like to send the file with the video embedded directly into the file, and would we fine with adobe popping a new window to play the video using Windows media player.
The problem that I am seeing is there seems to be a path that gets defined when you embed a video file.
The idea here is to create a portable file that can go out to the field, with this defined path from the orginating computer seems to be assigned to the file and thus crashing the abilty to run the video, when place on other computers.
    Any advise?

You won't find any specifics about future versions of Adobe software on these forums, those involved in the programs all operate under an NDA.
Speaking in general terms the user interface for the Acrobat Family was defined back in version X after a lot of consultation with the target customer groups (enterprise knowledge workers), so it's not surprising that Adobe have stuck with it ever since. Major UI changes scare big enterprises as they get hit with a huge bill for retraining their staff.

  • How to edit registry using recovery console or dos

    Hello everybody!
Due to some reason (virus) the value of  - "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon - Shell " was changed so I repaired it with Explorer.exe. But  due to some spelling mistake now I can log in in Win Xp. When the user log in screen appears and I choose the account its automatically logOff and return to the User Log in screen.
Now I have to repair the spelling mistake in registry key.
Please inform How can I do this. I can't log in so I can't use "Regedit". Can it is possible to edit the registry using recovery console?
    Thanks & regards
    nitin

    Step 1
Type "cd %systemroot%/system32/" into the command prompt to go to the folder that contains the Registry Editor.
    Step 2
Type "reg" into the command prompt to display a list of parameters and instructions on how to edit the system registry.
    Step 3
Type "reg [parameter] /?", replacing "[parameter]" with one of the listed parameters, into the command prompt to list all available functions that can be used with that parameter.
    Step 4
Type "reg [parameter] [function]" into the command line, but replace "[parameter]" with one of the listed parameters (query, add, delete, copy, etc.) and "[function]" with a function listed above, along with any additional options
for each function. For example, to delete a registry key, type "reg delete [rootkey]\[keyname]", replacing the "[rootkey]\[keyname]" text with the location of the registry key.
    Step 5
Save a registry key by typing "reg save [rootkey]\[keyname] [filename].hiv", where the "[rootkey]" and "[keyname]" text are the location and name of the registry file and "[filename]" is the name of the file to which
    you are saving the key.
    Step 6
Restore a registry key by typing "reg restore [rootkey]\[keyname] [filename].hiv", where the "[rootkey]" and "[keyname]" text are the location and key name that you want to restore and "[filename]" is the name of the
    file containing the saved key.
    Step 7
Import a "REG" file by typing "reg import [filename].reg". To export a registry key to a "REG" file, type "reg export [rootkey]\[keyname] [filename].hiv", where the "[rootkey]" and "[keyname]" text
are the location and key name that you want to export and "[filename]" is the name of the "REG" file you are exporting.

  • Can I "re-synch" audio to video using iMovie?

I purchased a Pinnacle Video Transfer gadget to convert VHS tapes to DVD. I just converted a 4 cassette series using what I consider the exact same procedures for each cassette and 2 converted almost perfect, but for the other 2, the audio is completely out of synch with the video. Can I use iMovie to fix the files? Somehow I think it should be a simple procedure, but I can't figure it out.

make your 'video' (still, title, whatever) as long as your audio track
