How to edit videos frame-by-frame and export in H264?

I wish to edit some videos and then export them in H264 so I can use them on a website.
I have tried to edit with iMovie 08 but can only edit second-by-second. I want to edit frame-by-frame ie to the millisecond. And it appears that iMovie 08 does not export in H264.
I have looked at iMovie 11 which has a Precision Editor which would work to edit as I want but for that I would have to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard which I don't want. It would export H264.
I also have QuickTime Player 7 Pro but that too seems to edit only by the second not by the frame; it does however seem to produce H264
How can I edit these videos precisely and produce H264? Is there another application which would work better (and doesn't cost a fortune).
Thanks for any ideas

I want to edit frame-by-frame ie to the millisecond.
Am a bit confused by what you say. iMovie and QT 7 Pro are both "frame" level editors. However, some forms of editing are, by their very nature, applied over a range of frames which may be a part of your problem. In addition, since "normal" movies have frames which are spaced apart in the 16 to 42 ms range, your requirement to be able to edit to the nearest millisecond would seem unreasonable and would probably be unsupported for playback purposes without skipping 90+ percent of the frames on most platforms.
And it appears that iMovie 08 does not export in H264.
All of the "Share" and/or "Export" options (except Final Cut XML...) either default to H.264 or allow export to H.264 (or X264 if installed) video compression.
How can I edit these videos precisely and produce H264? Is there another application which would work better (and doesn't cost a fortune).
Difficult to say since you have not given any indication as to what you mean by "editing" here. You could, for instance, edit normal movie clips in a normal manner and then use an application like the JES Deinterlacer to change the playback time reference to achieve an effective 1 millisecond/frame playback rate you seem to want to target even though your platform cannot play every frame during playback.

  • How to edit video frames in Premiere like in Photoshop?

Hi all!  So I have some videos I need to edit, and I am finally breaking into Premiere, might as well right, since I have CC, and I understand it is an awesome package.
I am learning as I go here, but as for right now, my main objective is to edit some info in the video.  What would be real useful is if Premiere had like Photoshop tools bult in, so frame by frame, or for multiple frames, I can crop out, brush or pencil something in, or paint over something.
Real example:  I have a video that has some phone numbers + promo codes across the bottom that is outdated and I need to change it.  It runs across the bottom for about 30 seconds.  What would be IDEAL is if I could select those 30 seconds, grab a paintbrush or outline the area with the selection rectangle, delete or paint it black, and then type in the new #'s.
I looked and couldnt find an option to do this.  So far what I have done is export the video into JPG stills, 1447 files for a 60 seconds video.  Now I dont have all kinds of hours to do this, but if desperate I will go frame by frame in PS and do that, but I am cringing at this solution.
There has to be something else... I know Premiere had some option to add subtitles but this is actual frame by frame graphic editing.
(Along similar lines, isnt this how old movies are converted to HD? They sharpen and edit frame by frame from the old crappy res to HD res?)
    Thanks guys............

    Thanks for your response!
    1. Luckily as for the tel/promo code, they are on a back footer bg so thats easy then... but I am a noob at Premiere, whats the easiest way to "select" the desired frame set/duration? My instinctive method would be to put that red marker at the beginning and then **** click to the end, LOL... but I would need to micormange the duration to the exact frame so.....
    2. There is a section at the very beginning where some overlaid text is fading away and I would love to get that out as well, but it IS on an iragnic background of a guy approaching a house so..... I know this may seem like a lot of work, but if absolutely necessary, is there a way, well I'm sure there is, but how do you clone out that text for like 20-30-50 frames and import them back into Premiere to export as a video file?  When you export as JPG/TIFF sequence files, edit each one, can you simply re-import them to Premiere and it will process into an AVI or whatever?
    Thanks!

  • Isolate single frame and export as a still?

Any pointer to a workflow to take a single frame from video clip in  PPRO  and export it into a format for printing a still photo?

Don't feel too bad. Exporting a Still was not always so easy, and in early versions of CS4, was a real pita. Luckily, Adobe listened to the Feature Requests, and instituted the general method used in its "little brother" program, PrElements, which had that (or very similar) icon for many versions.
Good luck, and glad that Ann pointed you to the right spot.

how to edit xml file particular value. and how to send xml file over ip address 192.168.2.10 device using ftp through Ethernet

    Hello
For using FTP function in LabVIEW, I recommend you to check this document: FTP Basics
Also, take a look at FTP Browser.vi, which is available at the Example Finder.
To edit a XML file, try to use VIs in XML palette. Maybe Write to XML.vi helps you.
Post your current VI if possible.

iMovie exports in h.264 by default. All the presets are h.264 (except Tiny).
If you need to adjust the h.264 in some way, then SHARE.EXPORT USING QUICKTIME.
To edit to the nearest frame, Go to iMovie/Preferences and select Display Time Codes.

  • How to edit video to audio with a sub-frame precision?

As all of my other posts I must begin by stating that this is not an RTFM issue. I have read the manuals and searched the web and this forum already.
Also I beg you to read this question first before answering some nonsense. Ok, off the soapbox now.
I am having issue synching video to audio.
I am editing a music video at the moment at 23.976 fps. There is a master sound track (48/16) to which all of the video must be synched.
I have not found a way of changing the position of a video clips in the timeline relative of the master audio track with a higher than a frame precision in order to obtain a perfect lip-sync.
I am aware of the fact that one should enable "display audio units" in the timeline in order to shift an audio track relative the video with the sub frame precision, which is very useful when doing dialogue replacement to a video. For the video I am still not able to do so. Is it at all possible? Is there a workaround?
How do they achieve a perfect lipsync when they make professional music videos?
    Thank you!

Actually, you can set markers on the audio clip between frames.  I rember this from Jacob Robenbergs book Premiere Pro 2.0 Studio Techniques.
You double click on the audio clip.  It opens in the Source monitor.  Then click on the fly-out menu and select SHOW AUDIO UNITS.
Now in the source monitor you can place a marker (to be used for syncing) anyhere within the frame.  Set a numbered marker.
Now you have a sync marker intraframe on the Audio.  You then sync this audio marker the Frame you need. Select both clips and choose syncronize.
So it is not sub video frame, it is sub Audio frame to the correct video frame start.
See below.  The audio sync marker is in the middle of the frame.  Hope this helps.

  • If I have a list of Vimeo videos on a webpage, how can I use just one video frame and have all videos play in that one frame?

I am creating a page with a list of Vimeo video links. I want to have only one video frame on the page. So no matter which video link a user clicks on, the chosen video needs to play in that one video frame on the page. How do I do this in Muse?
    Thanks.

You can use composition widget for this. Insert the video details in trigger container and then insert that corresponding vimeo video widget in that specific target container. So It would work like, users will click on different video buttons but the actual video will play on same frame which is actually a target container of composition.
The ID that we use for vimeo widget cannot be used for different videos on same time , because every video shares its own ID and url. But you can surely try the above.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • How to import video frames as layers in Photoshop?

How to import video as layers in PhotoshopCS3. When I press "Import Video Frames To Layers", an error message pops up: Could not complete the Video Frames to Layers command because the QuickTime version 7.1 or later is required." I've already installed and updated QuickTime Player, but this message persists. I'm currently running QuickTime version 7.7.5. Thank you for your help.

Thank you R_Kelky for your reply.
I'm running Windows 8.1. I do see the QuickTimeGlue.dll file as you stated.
I have actually found a solution to my question. Since QuickTime 7.7.5 might be too new, I tried installing QuickTime 7.1 and the message went away. But now I run into a new problem: only .avi and a few .mov files can be uploaded correctly. When I try to upload other common video formats like .mp4, .m4v, etc, then the layers just come out as black, white, and sometimes green layers. The preview window where I drag the range length of video I want to import as layers is also blank as black, white, or sometimes green. You have any ideas what's causing this? At times, I cant even see the preview, I just get a new error message: "Could not complete the Video Frames to Layers command because the file name was not valid."
    Thank you for your help.

  • How to Edit individual frames

I'd like to touch up a problem in about a couple of hundred or so frames in an iMovie HD project that is otherwise complete. If it was a still, I could easily copy an adjacent region and paste it over the bad pixels in the problem area. If I could edit individual frames, I could copy the area once, and paste it into each frame.
It doesn't seem possible in iMovie itself. I've tried downloading some third party software, including a plugin for iMovie, but none worked.
    What are the recommendations?
    Thank you

'BTV Pro' has a feature to "average" several frames together. "..To create a noise-free image, the frame averaging feature takes a number of frames from the video input and averages them together to produce a single image. This can significantly reduce, or even eliminate, the noise in the video signal. This works because the image is constant but the noise is quickly varying so over several frames it averages to zero.."
But perhaps the adjustment you want is more drastic. (..And I don't know if 'BTV Pro' is a 'Universal' app, so it may need to run in 'Rosetta' on a MacBook - thus making it a bit slower than usual..)
As for other "copy and paste" movie-editing programs; 'MediaEdit Pro' (..there's a free trial download..) lets you 'paint' on video frames, but I don't know if that lets you do subtle touch-ups ..read more about it on their website.

  • How to edit a frame. Please Help!!!

How can I edit a frame in After Effects.
Example: I want to take out a chair that I'm seating on from the frame, how do I do that?

    Rotoscope
Then you have to fill the hole.
You make the fill by creating a "clean plate" or by filming one at the time of production.
If you have no Idea what these terms mean then as Todd said in his fisrt post to the first time you asked this question, start with the basics.

  • How merge audio/video for easy cropping and editing

I'm trying to build a movie by importing my audio and video clips separately from Cinematize. (This is the only solution because Imovie has a bug and shows the movie file as distorted widescreen - and transitions don't work with a .dv file) I have about 5 different extracted imports - or 5 clips. That means 5 video.mov files and 5 .aiff files
The problem is this - I want to lock/merge the audio to the video FOR EACH CLIP - not to the play head. I want to end up with several merged audio/video clips for easy cropping. Is this possible? Otherwise how do I crop the video clips and keep the audio clips exactly in sync?

    Hi:
You can make your movie and export back to tape and then reimport to imovie, Then the audio will be on the actual video clips.

  • How to edit video & exprt in same original settings & lose no quality

I have always wondered how to do this.
How can i say, for example, caoture video in DV PAL, bring it into FCP, cut it up, and export it back to DV PAL in the same exact quality that it began. Is it as simple as choosing the same settings for sequence and render settings?
Also, if i did a screen capture and used the codec Sorenso Video 3, but then wanted to edit it in fcp, how would i edit it and export it so that no qaulity is lost?
I just want to know if exporting it in the same original settings effects the video, because i know that if you get a 192 bitrate mp3 track and export it using 192 bitrate setting, it recompresses the mp3 again. Is this the same for video.
If so, how do i got about changing contents in a video, but then export it at the same settings as the previous without losing quality
    Thank guys

    Doan
You already told me that dv is fine, does this go with all the other formats.
    Sure!
Also just something quickly of topic a bit. If i export say a .mov on the mac, and say in particular sorenso video 3, are these compatiable on a windows. Because i remeber one time when i capture my dv pal footage on fcp, i couldn't open it on a pc at all.
I found the following info in Sorenson Site. Look at the Playback requirements in the end of that page.
    HERE IS THE LINK
