How to eject boot disk from mac mini

I have a 1.66/duo mac mini on 10.4.11. I trying to upgrade to 1.5.4, but the installation procedure said that it was impossible on this computer. Now I cant eject de 10.5.4 installation disc

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
After you get the disk out of your computer, is the disk a grey disk from another Apple system? If yes, you won't be able to use it to upgrade, as you need a black retail disk. The grey disks are locked to the systems they are manufactured for and identified on the label.

how to eject a disk from an extern drive? I burned a few disc and it worked then I put another blank disc and now I cannot make it eject or burn...Please help

I usually 'right click' or 'control click' on the external drive's icon that is located on the desktop, and choose 'eject' from the dropdown menu. My external drive also has a physical eject button located on the front of the drive.

The simplest method would be to drag & drop the files you want to move to the external drive using the Finder. Just open both the source and destination locations in separate Finder windows.

  • How do change boot disk from single user mode?

My G5 hangs when booting at the blue screen while "Loading printing services...". Attempting to boot into safe mode only hangs at the grey gear screen. It will, however, successfully boot into single user mode. I've run fsck but no change in bootability. I have another disk in the machine that has Tiger on it. How do I change the boot disk from the single user prompt?

You can hold c and boot off the installer disk and select disk utility repair disk/permissions
or you can hold option to boot off Mac OS X on another drive, like a clone and run Data Rescue to recvoer your files.
It does sound bad, you can try going through these

But I think you'll need a fresh install, hopefully you have been backing up/cloning to a external drive.

Sync with your computer. Identify pictures via the Pictures tab in iTunes. Use iPhoto or put the photos you want to sync into a folder, then select that folder to sync from.

  • How to transfer iTunes library from Mac Mini to New Macbook Pro?

I have my wife's iPad and iPhone synced to our Mac Mini.  I purchased a new Macbook Pro for her.  I want to have her iPhone and iPad now sync to the Macbook Pro and not lose any apps or data along the way.  Both machines are running iTunes 11.2.1.  I have read other tutorials about transfering but they are off old versions of iTunes.  The new iTunes doesn't allow you to right click the device and "Transfer Purchases" manually any more.  I have home share turned on and have already transfered all the music to the new Macbook.
Can someone write up a quick step by step that would allow me to sync to her new Pro without losing her app data and contacts?
I also manually sync devices on all machines instead of auto sync on plugin.
    Thanks.

I think the method for transferring libraries hasn't changed since the very first version of iTunes.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • HT4889 Trying to migrate from Mac-mini Tiger to Mac-mini Lion and Migration Assistant cannot find my Firewire, 400 to 800, "T" disk although it show up in the new Mac's computer folder. Help

Trying to migrate from Mac-mini Tiger to Mac-mini Lion and Migration Assistant cannot find my Firewire, 400 to 800, "T" disk although it shows up in the new Mac's computer folder. It seems that Mac-mini Tiger is as it should be and the firewire cable is OK.  Something about the Migration Assistant is being missed, but I have no idea what it is.
    Help

Addendum: I read on a post here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=420169) about removing some kext files in order to trick OSX into thinking that there were no FireWire ports.
I followed the instructions and removed from /System/Library/Extensions/ the following files:
    IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext
    IOFireWireAVC.kext
    IOFireWireFamily.kext
    IOFireWireIP.kext
    IOFireWireSBP2.kext
I restarted and BAM...Snow Leopard booted crazy fast and the mouse and keyboard worked instantly.
The System Profiler says "No FireWire ports were found."
So this tells me that the FW port is probably the culprit and is messing up the installation.
So how do I hack the Mountain Lion installer and tell it to ignore the FW port, which is obviously quite dead? Or is there something I can do to the Base system that is similar?

  • Can I move the OS X boot disk from a core 2 duo mini to a new i5 mini and have it boot and run normally? Some info suggests I can.

I have a 2.53ghz core 2 duo mac mini. I just purchased an i5 2.5ghz mac mini (with amd 6630m graphics).
Can I simply ermove the OS X boot disk from the core 2 duo mini and put it into the i5 mini and have the it boot up and run fine?
Some info I read suggests I can do this and it should be no problem and will work fine.
    I am running 10.9.3 of OS X.
    Thanks.

    - I would connect the two via FireWire
    - Boot the new one Target Disk Mode
    - Boot the old one in Recovery
OS X: About OS X Recovery
and then uses disk utility to restore the HD on the new computer from the starup disk of the old one.
You could also boot the old one normally, download SuperDuper and the clone the old one's startup disk to the new one.

Reboot your Mac, as soon as you hear the chime press the option/alt key and hold it until the boot manager appears, select OSX to boot from.
