How to eliminate Eudora msg that appears in Mac Mail?

We use MacMail but my wife has a folder of old Eudora mail on the HD. I selected Offline and it's no  longer used for sending or receiving. Yet when we try to send someone a URL from a web site using the "Mail Link to This Page" in Safari we always get a small screen saying: "Export from Macintosh HD ...(long list)...Eudora Settings?  Choose OK to export from this settings file or check "Different" to choose a different one."
I have no idea what different one would be chosen - couldn't find a Mail settings folder. How to get rid of this?

In Mail > Preferences > General, what is the default email reader? If it's not Mail, change it to Mail and try again.

  • How to eliminate special characters that appear in extracted data files

    Dear all,
    I need your help please,
I have data files that are extracted via programs from a database db1. Those datafiles appear to have special character in the last record, so the last record in the datafile is entered in the database db2 via sql loader import and it appears in the table as a special character like a square.
What could I do in the control file to skip the last record in the datafile that contains this special character?
    regards

is it last row in the file or last field in each row (record)?
*1. if last field in each row* then it looks like you are running import on unix box and it's dos file. Unix file have end-of-line LF, dos have CRLF
    a. in sql loader add the records terminator to INFILE clause http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28319/ldr_concepts.htm#sthref718 it's been I while since I used SQL Loader, I believe it would look like this
    INFILE '/myfile.csv' "str '\r\n'"
    b. in external table (this is not your case and you can ignore this comment) you can use RECORDS DELIMITED BY clause like this RECORDS DELIMITED BY '\r\n'
*2. if it is very last row* in the file, then you can use WHEN clause to filter that row
    a. SQLLDR http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/SQL*Loader_FAQ#Can_one_selectively_load_only_the_records_that_one_needs.3F
    b. external table uses LOAD WHEN clause http://jiri.wordpress.com/2009/03/09/oracle-external-tables-by-examples-%E2%80%A6-part-2-reading-file-with-header-and-footer/

  • How to set password login window appear for 'Mac Mail' app?

This is possible, when we remove the email password from my keychain using account preference. But some of our client wants login window password which is different from email password.
    Is this possible??

no. but if you protect your iPhone with a password, I don't think you need a separate one just for your email.

Looks like you have a video card driver problem causing the color management shaders to return bad results.
You can either set the GPU mode to Basic, or update the video card drivers from the GPU maker's website.

    Try

ALso, http://www.doogs-tutorials.com/encore%202.html has some material that might state it is for 2.0, but is equally valid in CS3.

  • How do you create a rule to forward/redirect emails to another account (eg: gmail) BUT, I DO NOT want emails to then appear in Mac Mail inbox?

I cannot close down my primary email account as it's attached to my current modem.
So it will have to remain open BUT I don't any emails going to this address.
I have created a gmail account and want any emails redirected to this account but wanted to ensure they don't also appear in the original Mac Mail Inbox.
    Any suggestions?

Changing the password as you describe only changes the password that your Mac sends to the mail server(s), not the password that the mail server(s) expect(s).
If the email account is "attached to [your] modem," it is supplied by your ISP (Internet Service Provider), and you must change the expected password through your ISP. Depending on your ISP, this may involve calling them on the phone, visiting a web site, or even using a special app. It may also require proof of your right to administer your email account.
After you have changed what your ISP's mail server(s) expect(s), you will need to change the password(s) your system sends in Account Information (for receiving) and Edit SMTP server list (for sending).

  • AUSST setup. How can I easily verify that the computers (macs) are updating from the AUSST server?

I have set up everything according the recipe. Watched Karl Gibson video about this probably five times.
    Server is working
Users have AdobeUpdate.Overwrites file in place
Everyone is getting updates (could not do that before by themselves).
How can I easily see that updates are downloaded from the AUSST server instead of directly from Adobe online?

I found this out on my own.
The answer is found (on a mac) in the /Applications/Utilities/Console
Look in the sidebar for Adobe Download
    DML.log
    Hope this helps someone.

  • How do I change the hostname used when Mac Mail sends EHLO

    Hi All,
I work for a tech support group and one of our clients is experiencing some trouble sending emails. When they connect to their outbound mail server Mac Mail sends the EHLO command with a hostname like 01:23:45:67:89:ab.home
Another Mac on the network sends a hostname like 00:A0:C9:14:C8:29.home2
So they appear to be the a Mac address for the computers NIC followed by a generic location in this case .home, not sure if thats a generic Mac thing or something they chose to configure but because the hostname is not an ip address and contains ".(dot)home" the outbound mail server our client uses believes it to be a domain so then rejects it as an invalid domain when a lookup on it fails.
I've changed the hostname of one of the Macs using the command "cutil –-set HostName new_hostname"
This has changed the hostname when checking it by the hostname command in a Terminal but Mac Mail still persists in using the old hostname. We've tried rebooting the machine and rebooting the machine with the left shift key held down as I believe this does some kind of rebuild of configuration files, but still the old hostname is send when Mac Mail sends EHLO.
How can I force Mac Mail to pick up the new hostname or is there something else I need to do to change it?
thanks for any assistance you can provide,
    Martin

    Replying to myself:
You can sign out from the account in iBooks and then sign in to another one.
From the menu bar, choose:  Store->Sign Out
Then sign in again with the desired ID: Store->Sign In

  • How can i add an rss feed to mac mail?

I am trying to unclog my email and cancel many of the news related emails I get each day.   I would like to figure out the best way to still get news sent to me (without having to always remember to check 6-7 websites).  I used to use RSS feeds into my email program (was using outlook).  I cannot figure out how to add an rss feed to show up in mac mail as an email folder on the left hand side of the screen under the mailboxes.
    Thanks.

That functionality is not to be found in Apple Mail for Safari. Your best bet is the brilliant free RSS reader Vienna. Works very well, highly recommended.

  • How to restore old emails from Outlook to Mac Mail?

I have recently configured my email account (server type POP3) on Mail. It has retrieved my emails from last few weeks. However the older emails are missing. I was using Outlook and Mozilla thunderbird as email clients on Windows computer. I do have a backup of the data from windows computer on external hard drive. Can someone explain my how to I restore those old emails to the newly configued mac Mail account?

I had about 7500 emails, and they converted OK...took awhile because each one has to be converted, but it finished fine.
Although you can export from multiple Outlook folders, Mac Mail doesn't have a very slick importer for multiple mailboxes.  So, you'll need to export the mailboxes from Outlook (which will create 25 different files, each full of email), and then import each of those into Mail. In my case, Mail created a separate folder for each exported file, but the folders all descended from the root folder (not nested), so I had to create my own nesting.  This is more a limitation of the mbox standard that Apple uses than it is a limitation of Mac Mail itself, from what I read.
    Happy new year!

  • When using Time Machine to restore some Mac Mails, after clicking restore, a message shows "restoring 480 mesages.  They are supposed to appear on Mac Mail sidebar in a special folder.  They are not there and I have no idea where they are?  Would apprecia

I am having a problem with the Time Machine in restoring Mac Mail back to a certain date. Everything works fine, with Mac Mail the active application and entering Time Machine, and I have found the mail file after the location process is done, then I hit Restore and there is a messages "restoring 480 messages", but I cannot locate them anywhere. What is suppose to happen is that a special file should appear in the sidebar of Mac Mail in the section On My Mac.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    I use Mountain Lion.

Although you can restore messages from a Time Machine snapshot within the Mail application, it generally won't work with messages that were saved by an older version of Mail. In that case, you have to use an alternative method.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Inside that folder are subfolders representing your Mail accounts. The names refer to the email addresses you use. Decide which ones you want to restore messages from.
Enter Time Machine and scroll back to the snapshot you want. Select the account folders you want and then selectRestore ... to... from the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the snapshot window. Restore the folders to the Desktop, not to their original location.
From the Mail menu bar, select
    File ▹ Import Mailboxes...
Import from the mailboxes in the folders you restored to the Desktop. The imported messages will appear in a new mailbox. Move the ones you want to keep wherever you like and delete the rest. Then delete the folders on the Desktop.
