How to eliminate gray screen?

After my machine returns from "sleep", I get a white screen and I have to use my mouse to blacken it in order to visualize the gray screen that asks for password to access. I have set my privacy and security settings so that no password is needed, but it does not seem to work. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,
Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
1. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
2. Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

how to eliminate confirm screen popup every time?

You get an alert about resending POST data if you go back to a page that was previously requested from the server by submitting form data via a POST form.
The only way that Firefox can make sure to get the same page is by resending that POST form.
Firefox doesn't know what that form data means, so Firefox asks for confirmation before resending that form data as such an action can cause you to repeat an action and buy another item or post a message another time.
The only way to prevent that pop-up is not to use the Back button, but to open links from a page that was requested from a server by sending a POST form in a new tab (window) with a middle-click or a Ctrl + left-click.
Then you can close that tab or window to go back.

• How to eliminate gray rectangles?

Hello everybody,
When I erase in Photoshop part of a drawing, gray rectancles appear. How can I eliminate them? In other words: every time I erase something, text or drawings, those gray rectangles appear. Is there a way to erase something leaving that part just white, so there I can write or draw whatever is needed?
By the way I'm using Mac.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I have already seen where the layer is but I don't know how to convert the layer to a background layer or to add a white layer under that layer.
Thanks

• How to eliminate login screen

I would like to just open my laptop and start using it without having to loging everytime I open it if it's still running.
I have it started up, but I'll close it during the day, not turn it off just close the machine. But everytime I open it, it prompts me to log in. I get that I should log in the first time I start it up, but if it's just sleeping and I need to wake it up, I don't like to log in again.
So yeah, how does one eliminate the login screen?
Thank you.

Thank you guys. I actually did both and both helped. macjack's answer allowed the stuff to still run in the background, but I still had to log in, whereas CT's eliminated the login screen altogether.
Thank you for the help.

• How to eliminate split screen after browser restore?

FF 29.0.1 running on OSX 10.8. From time to time, starting FF (after killing it) and restoring all sessions, results in each tabbed window displayed in a split screen. The upper portion is is about 4" high, followed by a seam, then the actual site. Resizing can completely eliminate the useful portion - unable to shrink beyond the seam.
Opening a new tab results in a split screen; opening a new window displays normally.
The problem only occurs after restoring tabs - never when FF is closed normally.
Suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi nxtr, your Safe Mode test strongly suggests that one of your extensions is creating the gap.
If you haven't recently checked for extension updates, you can do that from the Add-ons page. Either:
* Command+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, above the list, click the "gear" button and Check for Updates.
If they are already up-to-date, you could try selectively disabling the nonessential ones. Hopefully the problem is caused by one of those.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

While that makes for a gray over the lines, it still does not form a box.

Hello Mokhtary123 and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
It will help us diagnose your problem to know the exact model, size, year built, RAM installed and OS you're running.
But basically your system can't find the boot disk. Usually this is a symptom of a dead/dying/corrupted hard drive;

• I downloaded a book on iBook and when I opened it all I got was a gray screen and I can't go back to my library. Help! How do I get rid of the gray screen and go back to my library?

I downloaded a book on iBook but when I tried to open it all I got was a empty gray screen. I can't do anything. How do I go back to my library? There are no icons, nothing.... Help

If tapping the book doesn't give a button at the top left to go back to your Library, then try closing the iBooks app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with iBooks 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

• I can't log in to my computer- when it turns on it has a white/gray screen with a flashing folder with a question mark in it. What does this mean and how can I get it to stop to log in?

Hi
I dropped my macbook yesterday and it turned itself off. When I tried to turn it back on all I got was a white/gray screen with a flash folder with a ? in the middle of it? What does this mean and how do I get it to stop so I can log onto my laptop?

Deev
Normally the question mark on the gray screen means it can't find the operating system. Have you tried booting up from the installation DVD? Do that, and when you come to the screen where it wants to begin a system installation you'll notice in the menubar where it say's utilites. Click on that and choose disk utility. from there choose your disk and try to verify and repair the disk. If you can you may want to also try and new install of the system. I don't know how much critical data you have, but reinstalling is an option. did you purcahse you from an Apple store? If you did you may want them to look at it. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Joseph

I'm afraid that the iTunes Store checks the feed when it gets round to it: as you've found it's usually in the order of 1-2 days, and there is nothing you can do to alter that.
