How to eliminate SQL command in Spool output?
Hi,
I'm trying to Spool an output to a txtfile without the SQL command being at the top of the page. I've tried a number of ways, but I'm having no luck.Any Ideas?
Sorry for the long msg, but maybe if some saw what I'm trying to do it would be helpful.
Many thanks,
James
Also does anyone know if its possible to import straight into Excel from PL/SQL?
The following is the Script I'm running:

You cannot change anything in your SQL query so as to exclude those lines.
Those lines pertain to the client you are using viz. SQL*Plus and do not have anything to do with the SQL language per se.
You could put all those SQL*Plus commands in a script file and run that script file from SQL*Plus, as shown below:

test@ORA10G> -- show contents of the script: c:\test.sql
test@ORA10G> host type c:\test.sql

How to pass SQL command parameter using OpenDocument
Hi !
I have a dynamic List of values configured in Business View manager, used across multiple reports.
The data source for this LOV is a SQL Command which accepts a static parameter named stringParam. I need to pass this static parameter in the URL using OpenDocument command. How can I do this?
I tried
http://bobjdev/businessobjects/enterprise115/InfoView/scripts/opendocument.aspx?spath=[ReportFolder]&sDocName=WebReport.rpt&stype=rpt&lsSstringParam=ABC
but it still prompts me to select the parameter. I need to avoid this prompt.
Any help, please.Hi,
I would recommend to take a look at the documentation in order to identify the correct syntax for your URL

How to execute Sql command behind the submit button?
Hello Dear,
i design a Visual JFS page with 1 text box, 1 dropdown list, 1 date picker and 1 submit button. i have a database connected to my project with hibernate framework. now i want that whatever i change to textbox, dropdown list & date picker, when i press the submit button the information will insert to my database table. could any one help me with sample code or steps or procedure to accumplish my want?
Regards,
Taibur RahmanHi,
1) In baking bean you write one method in that you call Dao method or whatever persistence logic.
2) In html or xhtml on submit button u add one attribute i.e action=#{BeanName.actionInsert}
Since you are using visual JSF, simply double click on button, it'll automatically create action method in backing bean and their you write persistence logic.
Thankyou

Hello,
I'm using dbms_metadata.getddl to generate a script to recreate a bunch of indexes for a schema. The SELECT command below works fine but I'm getting the SQL COMMAND and SPOOL OFF output in my spooled file.
Is there a way to turn something off so I DO NOT get the spool garbage at the beginning and end of my spool file? I swear I've done this before but I'm pulling my hair out trying to remember how.
Here's the command I'm running:
set pagesize 0
set long 90000
set feedback 0
set echo off
set heading off
set termout off
set verify off
set serveroutput 0ff
spool cr_indx.sql
SELECT DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('INDEX',u.index_name) || ';'
FROM USER_INDEXES u where table_owner='SFUSER' and index_name not like 'SYS%';
spool off;
I'm getting this at the top of my spool file (my SQL command):
SQL> SELECT DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('INDEX',u.index_name) || ';' FROM USER_INDEXES u where table_owner='SFUSER' and index_name not like 'SYS%';
and this at the bottom of my spool file:
SQL> spool offHi,
Put all these into a file name it some thing like test.sql
set pagesize 0
set long 90000
set feedback 0
set echo off
set heading off
set termout off
set verify off
set serveroutput 0ff
spool cr_indx.sql
SELECT DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('INDEX',u.index_name) || ';'
FROM USER_INDEXES u where table_owner='SFUSER' and index_name not like 'SYS%';
spool off;
and execute it
sql>@test.sql
then you will not get spool off and sql command.
Thanks,

Passing Parameter from Main report to SQL command-based subreport
I am trying to cut down the run time of my reports and have recently figured out how to write SQL commands to limit the data by filtering prior to being pulled into the reports. However, many of my reports rely on multiple sub reports, which can cause a dramatic 'drag' on the report.
I am trying to filter the SQL command used in my sub report by passing the group parameter, which is selected by the user in the main report, to the sub report's SQL command. Without this parameter, the sub report has to sort through a lot more data than it would with this parameter, making the run time extremely slow.
Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this?
Thanks for any help you can provide,

I don't believe you can pass a CR parameter to a Command object.
I suggest replacing all of the Command Objects with a Stored Procedure so all of the data filtering is done server side. DB servers are much more proficient at collecting the data and filtering than CR will ever be. It will also allow you to replace subreports to also speed up your report processing. All depends on your layout of course but something to look at.
Thank you

hello,
i am using cr 2011 and am trying to learn how to create sql commands. this is my first attempt.
i created an sql command (select distinct region from customer) using the add command to report dialog box.
i then created a parameter field on the command parameter dialog box.
i was expecting to see this parameter field in the field explorer like the other parameter fields that i've created using the create new parameter dialog box, but i didn't.
i ran the report, but the parameter field (for the sql command) did not pop up.
is this parameter field suppose to work like the other parameter fields?
i can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. i thought i followed the directions in the help file.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
tracyHi Tracy,
Th reason you're not being prompted for the parameter and the reason you don't see it in the Field Explorer is because you actually haven't 'used' it in the command object.
By creating a parameter at the command level, you're actually passing values to the SQL query. Something like this:
select name, id from Emp where dept = {?Parameter_Name}
...where {?Parameter_Name} is the name of the Parameter you create at the command level.
Now, you might ask how do I put it in the command object? After you create the parameter, place the cursor at the command line where you wish to pass values. For eg: In my example I expect users to enter values for Department. So, I place the cursor after *where dept = * and then double-click on the parameter name and it automatically comes in there. Or you can even type it the way I did.
Hope this helps!

Hello, How do I tell sql+ to spool output file from windows to Unix server?
Hello, How do I tell sql+ to spool output file from windows to Unix server?
I am new to SQL+ and just learned how to spool the file. But file is saved in my local windows enviroment and since it's 2GB in size...I want to spool it directly to another remote unix server.
Pls answer in detail... I have been to most of the thread and didn't see relevant answer to above question.
Am I suppose to develope some script which FTP the spool file directly to the server I want to
or
i Have to use UTL_FILE Package ?
Thanks for replyYou may not be able to...
SQL*Plus can only spool to the local machine. If you have mapped a directory on the Unix server from your Windows machine, you can specify that directory in your SPOOL command.
You could telnet to the Unix server, run SQL*Plus there, and spool the file to a local (Unix) directory.
If the Unix server is also the Oracle database server, you could use the UTL_FILE package rather than using SQL*Plus to spool a file.
If the Unix server is also an FTP server, you could also FTP the file from your local machine to the server.
Of course, I would tend to re-examine a requirement to regularly generate a 2 GB text file. It seems likely that there is a better way...

How do i get a output in CSV of a SQL query executed via SQL Command prompt
Hi All,
I have a question with reference to SQL command prompt. I have a sql query which runs properly and gives proper execution in SQL Management console in GUI.
This report is used to pull the free disk space report of our servers
As i want to schedule it as a report so i want to script it to run via SQL command prompt. I made the script and it works fine if i enter it in SQL command prompt. When i try to extract the output to a CSV File it fails. Below is the details of the command
i am using to query to pull the data. Can anyone help me in getting the output of this query in SQL command prompt.
sqlcmd -W -s , -S Servers FQDN
use operationsmanager
Go
Query:"select Path, InstanceName, SampleValue
from PerformanceDataAllView pdv with (NOLOCK)
inner join PerformanceCounterView pcv on pdv.performancesourceinternalid = pcv.performancesourceinternalid
inner join BaseManagedEntity bme on pcv.ManagedEntityId = bme.BaseManagedEntityId
where SampleValue < '20' and CounterName='% Free Space' and TimeSampled > '2014-08-06 11:00:00.00'
order by countername, timesampled" -s "," -o "C:\DataSqlCmd.csv"
Go
When i enter the command without the quotes when the query is starting and ending and also without the output command (-s "," -o "C:\DataSqlCmd.csv") it is working and shows the output in the command prompt. Below is the screen shot for
your reference.
Due to security reasons i have to erase the server names:
But when i add the line to extract the output ( -s "," -o "C:\DataSqlCmd.csv") It gives me this error:
The exact command would be:
sqlcmd -W -s , -S CINMLVSCOM01.e2klab.ge.com
use operationsmanager
Go
"select Path, InstanceName, SampleValue
from PerformanceDataAllView pdv with (NOLOCK)
inner join PerformanceCounterView pcv on pdv.performancesourceinternalid = pcv.performancesourceinternalid
inner join BaseManagedEntity bme on pcv.ManagedEntityId = bme.BaseManagedEntityId
where SampleValue < '20' and CounterName='% Free Space' and TimeSampled > '2014-08-06 11:00:00.00'
order by countername, timesampled" -s "," -o "C:\DataSqlCmd.csv" -h-1
Go
saying the syntax is not correct or some thing as per the below screenshot.
Can any one please help. Below is just the query whi i use to get the output in SQL management studio.
Can any one make a command for the below quer so i can directly execute and test for getting the output.
select Path, InstanceName, SampleValue
from PerformanceDataAllView pdv with (NOLOCK)
inner join PerformanceCounterView pcv on pdv.performancesourceinternalid = pcv.performancesourceinternalid
inner join BaseManagedEntity bme on pcv.ManagedEntityId = bme.BaseManagedEntityId
where SampleValue < '20' and CounterName='% Free Space' and TimeSampled > '2014-08-06 11:00:00.00'
order by countername, timesampled
Gautam.75801Can you try the below query?
