How to embed password at ePayslip PDF

Peoplesoft ePay is generate payslip in pdf for Global Payroll.
Our company plan to roll up SSO and for security concern would like to embeded password/standard hints anwers at the ePayslip PDF.
Just wonder, anybody have idea how to embed different password/standard hints anwers for each employees' pdf Payslip?

One option is to use Java (for instance itextpdf.com) to manipulate the PDF files metadata.

  • How to embed fonts in a pdf file

I have a pdf that has some fonts not embedded. I think that distiller might be able to embed the fonts when I print the pdf file, but it is inconvenient and may not always work. Is there a direct way to embed the fonts in Acrobat? Thanks!

I have the somthing like the following in Ctrl-D Fonts. They can not be embedded using the method above. I guess it is because the fonts in the original pdf are not available in the system. But how to embed the substitutes in the pdf file.
    Helvetica
        Type: Type 1
        Encoding: Custom
        Actual Font: Helvetica
        Actual Font Type: TrueType

  • How do I password-protect a PDF document that doesn't let me change the security settings?

I want to password-protect my PDF document (so when I email it, it can only be opened/read by intended recipients as it contains confidential/sensitive information) but when I go into document security, I'm unable to change the Security Method (which is currently set to 'No Security' - not by me).  There's a 'show details' icon but it's grey so I can't click on it.  What can I do to protect this document from being opened by non-intended recipients?

Ah, yes, I'm using Adobe Reader!  That makes sense.  Thanks so much for your reply.  At the moment, I scan Word documents into my computer and they're automatically converted to PDFs.  If I had Adobe Acrobat on my computer, and scanned in documents, would they open in Reader automatically or could I open them in Acrobat and therefore add password protection?

  • How to embed font into generated PDF?

    Hi,
I have an issue with cyrillic fonts in PDF-file, generated from smartform using the following mechanism:
    1. Run FM for smartform with ==> getotf = 'X'
    2. Perform CONVERT_OTF retrieving result into a XSTRING.
    3. Converting xstring content into a table using "cl_document_bcs=>xstring_to_solix).
    4. Creating mail to an external internet user with attached pdf ==> using "cl_document_bcs=>create_document..."
Smartform contains cyrillic content, based on HELVCYR (Helvetica cyrillic) font. Application server is based on Windows.
Everything worked well (for months!) for allmost all of the clients of our customer. Of course, some of clients have different OS-es (such as Linux, Mac OS, etc.), and then the problem starts - they doens't view properly the cyrillic content. English content (even numbers, etc.) are properly displayed. We found what fonts are used in the PDF, but my questions are:
    1. Is it possible to embed the font into generated PDF-content?
    2. If no, is it possible to generate PDF-content non-selectable (i.e. in some image mode) ?
If yes, how to do this?
Or is there any other way to workarround this issue - to be able to display mail with attached PDF-content with cyrillic on different OS-es? It would be better if it is possible without calling external converter...
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ivaylo Mutafchiev

    Hello Ivaylo Mutafchiev,
There is no way we can control the fonts in the created PDF / while creating the PDF using the class cl_document_bcs in your PDF creation logic.
You can try some other approach of creating PDF from the Smartforms OTF stream data .
Try using the follosing FM for the PDF creation and sending email:
    CONVERT_OTF_2_PDF
    CONVERT_OTF_AND_MAIL
    SO_OBJECT_SEND
CONVERT_OTF_AND_MAIL_NEW (Try this but this FM still uses  the class that you are using currently. But give it a try and see the results)
    Hope this answers your question.
    Thanks,
    Greetson

  • How to embed fonts in a PDF

I have a book which uses Garamond Light Italic and Helvetica light Oblique. Only 2 styles of 2 fonts.
The printer wants me to embed the entire font families with the PDF files.
My problem is that I don't know how.
All I know is that it will only embed the files being used in the document.
Should I include one letter of each style of each of the 2 fonts, so that the computer will know which fonts to embed?
Or, is it as simple as entering 100% in the Subset font below window?
I'm certain there must be a better and easier way.
Also, it there a way of verifying that the proper fonts have been embeded?
    Please, I need your advise.

LilyLC, All seems to have come to a conclusion this afternoon.
It seems that when I create individual pages, make PDFs of them and then merge them with PDF merge, what's happening is that the fonts are being embeded with each page. Apparently the RIP gets confused with all the fonts embeded and substitutes courier.
The printer recommends that I save the entire book as one document, and convert that document into one PDF file, thereby, embending the fonts once.
They guarantee that the book will print properly if I follow the above.
I had been reading through the printers vast instructions and noticed the paragraph relating to this problem, and they confirmed it.
They sent me a print out of the fonts embeded in my book and the 2 fonts were repeated for each page, 32 times.
I called Quark about a distiller (whatever that is) and the Custom and Roman encoding. Their answer was that none of it was Quark related. I would have to speak to Adobe.
I was made to understand that the only reason I would need a distiller is if I had postscript files to convert into PDFs. Since I was generating PDFs directly there was no need for the distiller.
I don't know how they print these books, other than the covers print RGB and the inside in CMYK. I always convert the CMYK photos.
I've been satisfied with the quality of their printing and the people, that's why I went through all the trouble to solve the problem.
I enjoy writing books for my 2 grandchildren. I've done 8 books in the past year.
You've been a big help, in that you persevered and explained in easy to understand language.
Again, thanks for all your help and to Limnos who made the original suggestion. I guess you can go back to enjoying the rest of the summer.
I will now make some reference notes for the future use.
If, by any chance this doesn't work out I'll will be posting back for additional help.

  • Hello ! How to embed or include a .pdf inside a keynote presentation?

    Hello Everyone !,
My favorite effects on Keynote 09 do not export correctly in ppt because many effects are not supported by ppt.
    So, my questions are :
1/I want to embbed a pdf inside a keynote presentaion. It seems it does not work,
and if I transform my keynote presentaion into a movie (.mov), how could I include a manual click on the embeeded pdf.?
2/ Although the resolution of my document letters in keynote presentaion look excellent, when converted into .mov, colors/definition becomes quite ugly. Hoe to solve this problem?
Thanks a million guys for any tips and tricks !!

The way I do it is:
Open the PDF in Preview. Click, "File > Save As..." and choose "PNG" as the format. Use the PNG image instead of .PDF for increased versatility.
Have a look at my tutorials on YouTube, I think anyone who works with the iWork package would benefit from them. Click here to have a look...

  • How do I password protect a pdf file - getting error messages?

I'm trying to protect a pdf file (i.e. a tax return printed to PDF) with password to open and password to modify. However I'm getting an error message in a pop up window saying..."The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save document with a different name, or in a different folder." I'm using WIN 8.1. and I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (student / teacher version). This is a standalone PC so I can't imaging someone else is using this file. Also I've tried renaming and saving to a different folder (from the folder the original file is saved). I've also looked at properties of the PDF file and its not tagged as read only. Please advise if I'm missing something. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for responding...I'm getting the same message that I got at first..."The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save document with a different name, or in a different folder."
The next day I emailed the file to my work PC and encrypted it with no problems. I have WIN 7 and am using Acrobat 8.0 there. So the problem seems to be with my new PC here at home (i.e. WIN 8.1 and Acrobat XI). Frustrating. I'm betting its some obscure setting in WIN or Acrobat, that is way over my head. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks again.

  • How can embed fonts into a PDF? Additionally, how can I make so that the PDF then opens with the embedded font?

I need to embed a standard font (such as Times New Roman) and make it so that the document opens with this font presented. I see information on embedding fonts, but nothing related to the second part of my question. Thanks.

The second part is automatic. If you manage to embed a font (for example with Preflight in Acrobat Pro), then a PDF viewer should use that. In some cases a locally installed font of the SAME NAME might take preference, which is only a difficulty if a private edited font is used.

  • How to embed interactive flash in PDF

I am trying to place an interactive Flash .swf file into a
PDF. I don't want it to just play through like a movie. I need
people to be able to click through it, and interact with it as if
it. There are, for example, 4 matching problems. So a person will
match for the question in problem 1, then click a button to see if
they got them right or wrong, then click next to go to the next
question. We've gotten it so that you can do all the interaction in
the PDF, but it first playes through all the questions and actions.
Basically it playes through it like a movie. Does anyone know how
to get it so it doesn't play through like a movie and instead is
just an interactive piece? Sorry that this is really
    confusing.

You can use SWLoader for that:

  • How to apply passwords to existing PDF files?

My MS-Access app creates about 1000 pdf files.  Each file is required to have a unique password and will be emailed as attachments via a VBA procedure in Outlook 2007.    Certificates are not feasible, despite my objections.  So I am looking at having to manually set the 'Open File' password for each file individually.  The files are created in an Access '97 VBA procedure (by sending the results of an Access Report to the Adobe PDF Printer).  Is there any way with VBA (either Access '97 or Outlook '07) to apply a unique security policy or otherwise set a unique 'Open File'  password for each of the files, either as they are being created and saved - or after the fact?
I can create an Action in PRO X and manually select all the files and set the passwords.  I can then encrypt and password-protect all the files at once - but they all get the same passwords - ok for 'Permissions', but not for 'Open'.  Can Action fileds be modified from VBA?  Or is there a way to creat an Action that can modify another Action?  For example, if there is an Action named "Apply Pswd" which will apply a predefined common set of passwords to all files selected, can there be an Action, named "Apply Unique Pswd" that will update the 'Open' password field in the "Apply Common Pswd" Action as well as the name of the individual file that is to have that password?  Sort of like passing parameters to a function.  i.e.:
    "Apply Unique Pswd":
    1. Get next .pdf file from directory.
    2. Get next password (whether caluclated or read from a list).
    3. Open the "Apply Common Pswd" Action.
    4. Change the 'Open' password and the name of the file to select (the 'Permissions' password does not change).
    5. Execute the "Apply Common Password" Action - which at this time is only affecting a single file.
    6. Verify the 'Open' password (or bypass the verify step, if possible).
    7. Loop through all files in the directory.
       or
    3.   Don't use Actions - save the .pdf file in such a way that the common 'Permissions' password and the current 'Open' password are applied to the appropriate file.
    3a. Goto 7.
I have also investigated Secure Envelopes in Outlook, but again, it appeas to be a manual procedure to apply unique passwords.
I would greatly appreciate any tips, suggestions, snippits, or ideas - or enlightenment that it is just not possible to create .pdf files with passwords in VBA nor to use VBA to set the passwords post-creation.

If that doesn't work it may be that you don't have Acrobat. This is not the free Adobe Reader but something fancier.

  • How to embed audio clips into pdf document

Hello I have a two-hour lecture I've transcribed. There are about 20 paragraphs. I want to embed the audio of the lecture into the pdf document so that when the reader clicks on a paragraph or on a button/control near the paragraph the audio for that particular paragraph starts up. An ideal version of this would be in pdf format and would allow the reader to click anywhere in the pdf and have the audio start from that point. I've never embedded audio before. I also have InDesign, Lightroom and Photoshop and can use them to embed audio before exporting to pdf.

The exact process will depend on the version of Acrobat you have. In AA7, I just selected TOOLS>Advanced Editing>Sound Tool and added a sound file to the document. There were options for AA5 and AA6 compatibility as well as for embedding the sound file in the PDF.
When you select the sound file, it asks if you want to play the file or accept the file as trusted for future requests. The file then played just fine. When I added the link, I was given a box to use to surround the area of interest on the page. You can set the border color and such (like make it invisible, though that might confuse folks).
I am not sure what more you want. It is possible to add audio to open when you open the page also as well as set timing for the page. That would provide a way for the person to essentially have a lecture presented on your system without having to intervene. For the playing of the pages and timing, you may ahve to have the file open in full-screen, not sure.
